I would like to see that the CNA's are the reason why this organization has survived as long as it has CNA's are often not recognized or given the credit they deserve they work very hard long hours and most often are asked to do overtime for incentives and they quickly burn out and end up losing their jobs due to inconsistency with not being able to keep up with the workload after a while starts to take a toll on their personalities, their personal and professional relationships and their work performances. Management also works long hours and end often will cover when there is a lack of CNA's or nurses on the floor to provide resident care. HR, Admissions, MDS, Kitchen, Housekeeping and Maintenance are truly awesome as well. This company struggles to provide affordable laundry services in what I would say should be "High Priority" since 85% off of admissions are incontinent. The DON is a "ROTTEN APPLE" that is spoiling the integrity of what this company could be. If the ADON was the DON you would see a huge change in the operations and the quality of care and staff turn over rate would improve. Both, the DON and ADON are highly qualified to do their jobs however the DON is not well-rounded and has tunnel vision of how "she sees things" or how "she wants things to be" which is often very unrealistic and not for the best interest of the residents but merely her own. The Director of this facility is blinded by her Bipolar personality and self-centered approach to making decisions that should be discussed upon a team and not decided by one person. The Director needs to wake up and recognize the common denominator of the foundation of this facility crumbling is clearly because of the DON; which affects Management, Nursing and CNA staff... which affects the business, the quality measures and the options of families/residents who rehab or live here.  I also feel like there should be mandatory drug testing for everyone. This would help with getting rid of the "ROTTEN APPLES" in this place.

This place is run by an administrator who knows nothing and can never be found,  he wears an N95 mask all the time, but never sees residents or perform care.  He forbids all clerical, dietary and office staff from wearing the N95.  I say lead by example. Yeah right..  Then you have an ADNS so call acting DNS who is extremely rude to staff, does not communicate with staff. does not educate staff.  she is the most incompetent individual we have ever had,  Why she has not been fired is beyond us. This person is not what good health care is all about .  She will never come out of her office to help u or see any sick residents.  You have two of the worst leaders in the world, yet the company does nothing, we voice our opinions and complaints upon deaf ears,  Both do not help staff but are very rude to the staff.  they refuse to hold staff meetings during these very hard times.  they do not educate the staff or help the staff in any way,  There is no educating staff in regards to PPE is non-existing.  they take away our masks if we put it back in the plastic containers wrong (never mind the fact that putting a wet mask from breathing in a plastic container is wrong)  They also claim that they meet with the staff all the time which is another lie.  they both lie and they do not communicate with any of us,  they put our lives and the lives of our residents at risk, by refusing to test our clients.  we have less than 50 residents and half of them are positive we have had multiply deaths again because we did not do the right thing from the beginning.  I chose to remain here because I care about our residents, but I would strongly recommend those of you that can to take your love ones while u can.  I do not recommend this place  for employment or to place your love one.  We keep losing good staff.  Where is the justice,

Terrible work place. Every department head that is favored by the director of operations can do whatever they choose to and not get reprimanded. HR Director is backstabbing and conniving. She has no clue what she is doing and has absolutely no talent when it comes to human resources. She will push you out of your position so she can put her close friends and family into said position. She’ll call it what she wants, but most will call it nepotism. She gave a 30 year employee an ultimatum of being laid off or taking a job that usually teenagers are doing. She is the most unprofessional health care professional there is. The building has gone through 5 administrators in just about five years. They have been threatened by multiple hospitals in revoking their preferred provider-ship. Not to mention the few Directors of Nursing they have been through in that amount of time as well. They are so worried about money that they will overwork the two CNAs that they put on a 30-something bed unit ALONE. RN’s were unfairly made salary, instead of hourly, and the nursing staff are given tasks that they were not hired for. Like said before, anyone who was not hired by the director of operations are basically garbage in his eyes, and the ones that he does hire, well he’d consider them gods. In reality, it’s the other way around. HR director would’ve been fired by now if anyone else was in charge. It’s a shame that she is still able to hold the position she has rather than being jobless. I don’t recommend working here, OR placing a family member in this home. Although the nursing staff is wonderfully talented and amazing, they are extremely understaffed(not the nurses fault) and your family will not receive the “promised” care that’s talked about in their “wonderful” brochures.

I started off with Lighthouse Home Health Care as a personal care assistant and left a Home Health Aide. 

I enjoyed working as a personal care assistant (at a lower hourly rate) more than I did as a Home Health Aide (higher hourly wage) Mainly because as a personal care assistant my clients and cases had clearer direction and guidelines - Once I became a Home Health Aide I quickly learned how management ran things - the lack of communication, and not to mention the times I was shorted in pay (Mileage mainly).

Management/Schedulers/Other Staff seemed to not be the best with communication skills - I would get mixed emails regarding scheduling and other various things once I switched to the Home Health Aide side. It seemed that no one could really help the other out or communicate with staff properly. 

Essentially managers don't understand all the dedication and all the care that goes into clients (they're not the ones that are taking care of  the clients physical/psychological needs), I found that there was a huge inconsistency when it came to management and other various staff members - emails saying one thing - emails saying another.

I liked that the pay-rate was above average and the clients... And, that's about it. 

If you're looking for a job that treats you like you're a human being, that communicates openly with you and tries to provide you some sense of security- I would suggest not seeking employment with this company.

I was a Certified Nurse Aide whom cared for patients daily. I assisted some and gave total care to others. I helped with hygiene, feeding, bathing, rehabilitation, housekeeping, transportation and I also documented the care given.I loved working with my co workers and all the staff here. We were all there to care for people. There were very few that were just there for the money. My supervisors and management had great communication skills and treated me like they really appreciated and needed me. I was relied on heavily at this facility because I work fast and maintain an exceedingly excellent level of care. I always give exceptional care to everyone I care for. The only bad thing that I can say is the change in management at this facility caused many of us to leave and Its still an emotionally hard job to have. I am no longer able to deal with the sadness and grief that comes along with being a c.n.a. I love people I just can't handle losing people.

I worked in the Office at Lighthouse for many years. Once there was a change in the Director and the HR department the support for Home health side and Companion Care side dropped drastically. It was always a battle to get any support for the workers in the field, which was none. We would regularly bring issues to the upper management and it was brushed aside. More and more work would be piled upon us and no compensation or thank you was ever given. The communication from the upper management comes off as hostile especially when asking for any type of help from the HR department or the Director. I enjoyed working with my department with the people who surrounded me but the lack of leadership and in-compassion towards the field workers is preposterous. I have never seen so many interviews come into an office, or field workers come into an office and leave crying and hurt by how they were treated. This company needs to take care of its workers and realize they are the backbone of the company and stop supporting terrible management. Good luck to all who apply..

Start-up Home Care Agency for company owning several skilled nursing/rehabilitation facilities in Connecticut. The management was not familiar with Home Care. I was hired as Administrator and Clinical Supervisor. My immediate supervisor had no medical background but was very helpful, especially with the financial aspects of the position. Homecare consultants assisted frequently. I learned an enormous amount of information regarding start-up regulations, developing policies and procedures, state and federal regulations surrounding homecare, accreditation requirements, quality, and education of staff. It was a very small agency, with 3 nurses, 5 CNAs, Physical Therapy Supervisor, and other per diem therapists. An administrator was hired recently. The most difficult part of the job was "wearing so many hats". The most enjoyable part of the job was being successful in attaining state licensure and Medicare certification with accreditation following almost two years of
efforts and educating staff was very rewarding.

Lord Chamberlain is a great place for residents to live long term and for patient to have rehab services.The staff at Lord Chaberlain embrace the value of quality and services, but the pay does not value there employees. It is so sad that all the C.N.A. employees have a strong passion for helping others and take so much pride in what they do to end up with such low pay. I mean you have to take a class to be a C.N.A., pass it to receive a certificate to be a C.N.A. and a housekeeper does not.They are just hire. A housekeeper and a C.N.A. at Lord Chamberlain receive the exact same pay when they are new hires. How could this be? I left Lord Chamberlain for this reason. I should not be getting paid as a houkeeper. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong In being a housekeeper but I took a class. A class I must now pay for and I was just not making it with the low pay. So I found a job with way better pay and all is well now, but I would have enjoyed staying at Lord Chamberlain if they knew how to pay there staff properly.

typical day work day- Starts with obtaining from the nurse of the previous shift on any tasks that are needed to be done or followed up or any change of medications or status of the patients. Then coordinate with the CNA's on their tasks to be done for that shift. Obtain blood sugar readings of particular patients. Then start giving medications to patients for that shift. Encode and follow any new doctor's orders. Encode progress notes for patients. Then give report of the shift to the incoming nurse.
what you learned- Coordination and team participation between personnel. Training on IV infusion and proper medication administration.
hardest part of the job- giving medications on time for 18-24 patients on a two hour window.
enjoyable part- relationship with the patients and the staff

Where should I BEGIN. We have an administrator who can’t think for herself and has to go to her DNS for everything. We have a Director of nursing who things she’s the BIG KAHUNA but has her staff running away from this place this is why NO ONE wants to work here. If you are known by her then your JOB is safe if she doesn’t like you get ready to look for another JOB. We have a NEW HR Director that has ZERO clue what he’s doing. He is always in everyone’s business and never in his office. He’s the DEFINITION of A JOKE. If you would like your business to go around CHESHIRE HOUSE they made an excellent decision GIVING him the POSITION! We have the administrator, ADNS, DNS, HR walking around like THEY CAN DO NO WRONG. They will be running this place to the ground. THEY TREAT MANAGEMENT STAFF LIKE TRASH THAT IS WHY THEY LOST SO MANY GOOD PEOPLE. CORPORATE NEEDS TO CLEAN HOUSE!!!
