What is the best part of working at the company?
they overwork you. you are a number and though the pay and benefits are great the expectations are so high a volume you're fired, burn out or quit. Highest turnover in 3 months Ive ever seen. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
too high volume youre moving as fast as you can show improvements praised for doing well then told its not good enough 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
manilpulative supervisors but good coaches and team mates. Superviosrs amd coaches are not consistant in comminication and invoved in politics not culture or morale

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
not enough time to think about learning unrealistic expectation adjusters ive worked with in other work comp companies the assistants required more time to learn the same level of claims processing Saif requires, stated by ajuster themselves. so getting praise for job well done thay exceeded expectations  npt sure why I was let go they wouod not say only thay is was an at will amd had that right. I jad no idea amd was told by both coaches thay I was doing well. When superviosr asked what more I needed I didnt think it was because I was doing anything wrong or not meeting a quota, I was told I was doing a good job.

Negatives:
Lots of claims, not a lot of adjusters. People come and go quite frequently; was hard to keep up with the workload. They hire a lot of new adjusters frequently but they don’t always last. 

Also, managers tend to get on your case regarding disabling (time loss) claims, especially the ones that take a long time for the injuries to heal. Although many tools and resources are given to us, some of those circumstances  aren’t always in your control as an adjuster. 

Positives:
Pay was very good though, compared to other insurance companies. I started out at 63k, coming in with 2 years of property experience and no workers comp experience. 

Company culture is good; most folks are very friendly and willing to help you/answer questions. The company also frequently gave gifts to employees randomly and also threw events at the office. 

Tldr: lots of claims, not a lot of adjusters, micromanaging managers. Great pay and good company culture.

Teammates really stick together and support each other. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Getting promoted out of certain positions is challenging at best. Once you’re in a niche position, it is difficult to transition out offer so many years. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The physical environment is new, modern, clean and open. Desks are sit/stand. Chairs are ergonomic.  The majority of the positions are work-from-home or at least partially WFH. The culture? It really depends on what department you work in and who the supervisor is in that department. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Time management and organizational skills are imperative at SAIF. Then be ready for phone interruptions. If you’re at your desk, you need to answer. It saves time in the long run anyhow.

A typical day for me would include meetings, resolving problems, coaching employees and performing the daily duties of the central scanning unit. SAIF has been my life and I consider it my second home. My co-workers are great to work with, providing support when I need it. The most difficult part of my job is managing people and writing performance reviews. I enjoy the people I work with and enjoy the challenge of meeting the deadlines faced each day to complete the work timely. I have learned how important it is to do a good job as it affects not only those within the corporation, but also outside customers. Customer service is the #1 priority in SAIF.

When I came to work for SAIF 7 years ago, I was excited to work for a company with a real sense of purpose and serving employers and injured workers throughout the state. But I was also sold by the above average pay structure and benefits. 6 months after I started, the pay structure was totally changed and I worked for several years making less than peers who came in after me. Other benefits have been taken away in the name of "industry standard". SAIF expects exemplary employees, but now also wants to give pay and benefits that may not align. I'm not saying there aren't good benefits, they are just not as good as they used to be. Management at SAIF is really hit or miss. There are some great supervisors, and some horrible supervisors. If you get into a department with a supportive knowledgeable supervisor it is a good place to work. 

SAIF is a company where you feel like part of the family from day one.  You will get the help and training you need to get up to speed in your new job.  You will get the tools you need to do the work and you will always have access to the resources you need to grow and advance in the company.  The work is important and the people who work at SAIF are exceptional.  SAIF is an extremely ethical company that truly cares about Oregon business and the dedicated workers who make our state a wonderful place to live.  SAIF not only provides top notch health insurance, retirement and other coverage, they provide wellness programs, employee participation in community service, celebration of diversity and many opportunities to help you find the perfect work/home balance.  It was tough to let go and retire because there is a reason why so many people spend 20 and 30 years with this company.

I really enjoyed my time working with SAIF.  If it wasn't for an out of state move I would have retired from this company.  The people, customers and our mission are fantastic.  Work is hard, restructuring has been constant and frustrating at times, however it is a mindset to either push through it and get the job done or complain and make work-life worse.  The pay could be a bit more competitive, however the benefits are outstanding and can't be beat. Management overall is competent and gives a listening ear.  If you're willing to work hard and be a go-getter, the company will recognize you and climbing the ladder is possible.  If you just expect opportunity to be handed to you, this isn't the place.  Work life balance is phenomenal as well as volunteer opportunities both in and outside company doors.  Great place to work.  Missing it.

I worked for SAIF for a long time.  Experienced many positive company improvements.  Communication with my direct supervisor to the division VP was outstanding. Most of the employees are extremely professional. 

The work, especially with customers, was stimulating and fulfilling. 

Negatives: old, archaic, unchangeable state regulations and rules created too much focus on production numbers and created artificial stress. Also interfered with top notch customer service.  

Management ignored future retirements several years ago. Unprepared.  Resulted in constant turnover of trainees. However, the new employees who stuck with it have greatly contributed. 

It is a great company with good benefits. There are a lot of people who truly do enjoy and love their job. However, there are those who do not have the best interpersonal skills. I found that a lot of the management were not as knowledgeable as I thought they would be. Some departments would take 30 min breaks while others would take 15 min breaks. Standards would not be consistent through out the company.

There are many changes and challenges facing SAIF and workdays were various in terms of what to expect. They were committed to the injured worker and making sure they offered the best customer service possible. The people that they employ at SAIF make the company. Management changes and decisions makers can make things difficult and that is a challenge that we worked around but this varied from department to department. The people make the job...
