Management is supportive at all times; they keep a happy workforce without hindering productivity. Some of the employees have been with the company since it was founded in 1983 and others for more than ten years.

I enjoy working with SLEA because it allows me to work in variety of settings (home visits/assessments, schools, clinic, head starts) and with a variety of patients (toddlers, children, teens, adults). Because of their "open door" policy, it is common to see therapists bouncing ideas off of each other and supporting each other. The schedulers and other office managers, supervisors, and employees try their best to be helpful. I definitely  have learned a lot working with SLEA. The hardest part of the job can sometimes be the caseload itself. If you work full time at the clinic you will most likely have clients back to back because of productivity standards (7 hours). If you work in the schools,therapists will report different experiences. However, I think it mostly depends on the school site and the SPED team. Good time management is crucial when managing big caseloads/IEPs, etc. Always making sure to communicate with your supervisors will be vital when having difficulties, as they will try their best to support you.

In one day, I could be providing services in a range of settings: Head Start, Online Tele-Therapy, High School, or in a Clinic Room Setting. There is driving involved, but I like the time to prepare for the new setting. The management team is very understanding of your needs and wants to becoming a better speech-language pathology assistant, (SLPA). My schedule was my choice. The hardest part of the job is being fully flexible when the bad days come: irritable clients, helicopter parents, but those days are far from none.The best part of the job is seeing the students/client excited to see you; wanting to improve, enjoying it, or witnessing the first time the child says that sound they've been working so hard on! I have learned so many skills: interpersonal communication skills with my supervisors and colleagues as well as new therapy skills with observational opportunities and hands-on CEU courses done right in the clinic offices! Also, I have met many SLPs from different backgrounds, origins, and overall hope that I can too step into that realm one day with the management in full support when I choose to do so.

A typical day at work consist of interacting with clients, correcting behaviors, reinforcing certain behaviors and engaging in academic activities. Some clients may need help accessing the restroom, being accompanied to the nurse and administered medication. I'm always in the field therefore, I do not work directly with management. I report weekly to the supervisor on the case just to give an overview of everything that takes place throughout the week. Being that I have worked in several schools throughout my career with this company, I have had the pleasure to meet and work side by side with lots of people from different backgrounds and culture. If I had to describe the hardest part of my job, it would be working with clients who are in the wrong placement and aren't flourishing because of the environment. Nonetheless, I love what I do. Helping people and creating everlasting memories that I know they appreciate will always give me great joy and push me to always show up for others.

Very good company , Working in the ABA field at my company has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I am proud to be part of a team that is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with autism and other developmental needs. The company provides strong training, supportive supervision, and a positive environment that encourages professional growth and compassionate care. Every day I learn new skills in behavior analysis while helping clients reach meaningful goals and become more independent. My coworkers are collaborative, kind, and always willing to support each other during challenging situations and busy schedules. I appreciate how the leadership values communication, ethical practice, and client-centered care in every aspect of the work. This makes it a great place to grow professionally while making a real difference in the community we serve. Overall I feel grateful for my role and the positive impact our ABA services bring to families daily every day.

Used to work here but don’t anymore as I found better support with a smaller company which has better training and direct support with a BCBA. A few things about slea: poor management, hardly ever in touch or trained with or by a BCbA, some staff have shown use of aggressive language to intimidate workers, this is a new one: known to offer incentives to boost reviews, known to prioritize staff members who do not speak up and disparage those who speak up/stand up for themselves especially regarding work hours, inconsistent and long work hours of looking to fulfill a 30hr+ work week, full time work/ 40 hrs is not guaranteed as they hire with the premise that you are a part time employee, extra materials known to be helpful for clients are at the expense of the worker and not covered by the company, poor training, no paid time off as in no full days pay for holidays when school is closed for those working 30+/PT, it’s a mix bag of skilled and unhelpful supervisors/trainers

I didn't have the best experience working at this organization. I really enjoyed working with my clients and their parents. Unfortunately, I cant say many nice things about the management, HR and the scheduling team. I felt they were not supportive and very unapproachable. Many times, hours were promised and never delivered.

I remember an incident where I was placed to cover a client with severe behavioral problems such as aggression, self-harm and harming other students in class. It was my first time working with a client with these types of symptoms. I did not have the experience nor the training. Scheduling did not inform me anything about the severity of the case and sent me to cover this client without any supervision. Mind you, the supervisor just did not show up to the appointment. This was one of the toughest days I've ever had working as a BII.

SLEA is overall a great company to work for. The benefits alone are unmatched at ANY other company I have seen. Absolutely amazing benefits. Pay is decent and fair. Paid holidays, sick time, and PTO. Employee-owned!! The company culture is good, the directors really make an effort to make everyone feel included and plan fun events. However, they will pack your schedule full!!! It is all about billable hours and money coming in, regardless of the quality of therapy. I have felt overwhelmed so many times at my job just by the number of clients and the amount of work, and I have heard the same from my fellow coworkers as well. The directors are very supportive though, and if you let them know you are burnt out they will do their best to help. 

SLEA is a good place to hone your clinical skills with a good variety caseload. That’s about where the benefit of working here ends. Work days are long with a lot of report writing, notes, scheduling, emailing, etc. SLEA doesn’t value its employees nearly as much as it wants to squeeze as much $ from a working therapist as possible. There is little in the way of support from management nor commending someone’s work. There is a lack of materials to use and the materials that are available are typically old and worn out. 
SLEA does reimburse for CEUs but it doesn’t offer applicable training to therapists to build new skills nor does it care much about creating a teamwork atmosphere.

Words can't describe how disappointed I was with this company.  A typical day would begin at 8 am and end at 6-7 pm.  What I've learned was that this company is all about money rather than helping families that need assistance and support.  The hardest part of the job is the paperwork.  You have so much paperwork that you have to take it home and complete it on your personal time without getting paid.  The most enjoyable part of the job is putting a smile on a client's face and know that you made a difference in someone's life.
