The pay is okay but commission based, you have supportive leaders and a team, coaches who will help you get sales, unlimited leads and training, but you have to put in a lot of hours dailing around 100 to 200, maybe 300 people a day to get at least 2 or 3 sales per week. God forbid you only get one sale or none at all. 

And the calls are so long, thanks to the wordy scripts that take a while to get to the point, which could be annoying to the client. Not to mention that the majority of the people you call are old and recycled leads, so they either won't be interested and tired of getting calls, already have policies, or don't even know what you're calling them for, so you'll have to try to keep them on the phone and convince them to buy insurance. 

And let's talk about the people who already have insurance. You have to review their existing policies to see if you should replace it or not, which will add more time to the call, and some people wouldn't even want you to review their policies. But rarely, there are only a few who don't have any insurance and would actually be interested in buying.

And as for the pay, you're not guaranteed to get paid for the work you put in because your checks depend more on the client than how many hours they recommend you spend on the phone. There will be clients who won't keep their policies because they can't afford it, they later don't qualify for the plan they signed up for and won't accept the counter offer, or whatever reason, and you end up not getting a commission from them. Also, there's a weekly fee of $59 deducted from your checks. 

So, imagine not getting a sell one week, or getting some sales and losing them or just not getting paid for them because your clients' information is wrong, there's banking issues, they cancel their policy shortly after signing up for it, etc., and still having to be charged a fee. That along with lost businesses lead to negative balance. And once you get too far into the negative balance, they fire you.

I had high hopes for this position however those were crushed during training. Didn’t even get the full weekend of training like promised and then once on the phones there was not a lot of encouragement and assistance. Your on a certain team, however all the teams are one team-weird. However some of the “trainers” don’t help when your on the phone and don’t jump onto your call to help out (esp on Saturdays) and then you make your goal of 200 calls a day-and the B leads are OLD! Like a year old. The people don’t remember requesting information, or swear that they never requested it, or do t totally understand what we are actually calling for. You are “assume” the sale on every call and Dodge all of their kickback (I’m not interested, stop calling me, etc) It’s all about making a sale-which is part of Sales however if someone refuses and doesn’t want the coverage you can’t make them buy it. They tell you that you can work your own hours as long as you make goal, etc however it’s impossible to make your goal of sales when you are calling old leads and get nothing but hang ups or disconnected #’s. The 6 figure income is Definitely not the case for all employees. And then they charge you $59 every week for the leads and so called support-so if you don’t make any sales your gonna be paying them for you to work there! Had high hopes to make a good income and that was shot down right from the start. And the more you ask for assistance and help the more it seems like you should already know everything. And getting back to goals-they say you can make your own hours but that is not true bc they frown upon you being done for the day at 5 or 6pm. They want you to live to work and have no life.  

I had almost given up on the insurance industry due to my past two experiences with other agencies.  These agencies said I would "commit" to three months of lead costs for a virtual guarantee and security in working my local area.  After all, I'm not interested in regularly going 2+ hours from my home or staying nights in hotels!  Well, at first it was fine but within a couple of months the leads were very hard to come by and some weeks I received NONE!  They did try to resolve this for me by offering me leads in another state...I needed to make a paycheck, so I considered it until I found out that I'd be the one paying for the hotel and all travel arrangements.  The last agency I worked with wanted me to recruit all of my friends before I sold a single policy and my manager taught me that paying the client's first premium was actually "helping the client out".  I thought I had just learned in licensing class that this was called "rebating" and it was illegal, but he assured me it was fine.  I'm not interested in working with an unethical company!  Then I applied to a job with Senior Life Services...and the insurance industry now appears to be what I thought it would be when I first got my state license-a place where I can hang my hat...work hard...pay my bills...save for retirement and sleep good at night knowing I helped seniors and represent a company that has, in my experience, uncompromising standards of ethics and sales performance.  It's been almost a year and I'm so glad I didn't give up on the insurance industry...I'm just two months from starting to get my renewals!

I usually don’t go out of my way to boast about my life but I consider myself to be very fortunate now that I am employed with Senior Life Services. I have been in the life insurance industry for 15 years now and in that time I have never been truly happy with any company until I started with SLS 9 months ago. 
What first sold me were the truly talented managers, who wanted me to succeed to my best ability. They would not let me fail and gave me all the right tools to succeed. My fellow agents are very encouraging as well. And due the positive atmosphere, I am now a manager myself and will continue to move up in the company that has so much forward mobility. 
The leads are also amazing. Not only are they free but you can receive as many as want, where you want (You can stay within 1 hour from home!).  The employees at the home office are incredibly helpful as well. They are there for you all of the time and will assist you in any way they can. 
Another awesome perk to SLS is the amazing incentives. In the last 9 months I have won an iPad, over $7,500 in cash, a flat screen and traveled to the Grand Cayman. 
However, these opportunities were not just handed to me. I worked extremely hard for them. But working hard for SLS isn’t the same as working for another agency; if you follow the system they give you, you see much more opportunities than you do with other companies. I am truly blessed to be a part of the SLS family.

This is a job no matter what is said. You may be 1099 but to even survive or make it you must commit your time which is about 12 hours a day. They start you at 50% commission with free leads with 20% in an account to protect you against hold backs. You don't have to pay for leads, E&O Insurance, and has someone to fully train you and support you.  Word to the wise when you leave that is it. You may get the 20% but any paid as earned are gone and commissions outside of advances are also gone. 

I would not suggest this for professional sales people unless they want training and look at the business you write to as training lumps. 

The cult like atmosphere may not appeal to many but it is supportive and you will write premium. Many agents come from background where they were not sales and/or made low wages. I tell you now those are the best people to go here. 

Unless you are into MLM you may never see the riches and I would suggest anyone who has a real life with real responsibilities to avoid this company and learn how to prospect/market. Buying leads can be a booby trap so be careful there. 

Do you research before you take any insurance job and ask the hard questions. The world has moved to telesales and zoom meetings so you should consider that when making your choice.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Well for me, in this day time it was keeping up with all the contests & pressures of feeling obligated, to having to be in these contest, whether I wanted to or not or felt like it or not. (So many of them)

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment is what you feel it is for you. For me, it was professional, but can be consuming with (time) since everything, is on Zoom everyday and throughout the day. 
Meetings in person Annually are nice professional as well. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It would start off with  Zoom Call, starting at 7:00 am my time, my regional would be energetic and positive and she would have us training on different subjects, like how do we go about getting referrals, how do we deal with Objections, etc...She was really Good! We would start off highlighting the agents for the day, although it would be the agents that sold the most the day before, so they would be recognize for the awesome, work they did the day before. They would go through their day of sales and share with us all on the Zoom Call how they got the sale and what were the key points doing the sale...etc Training, Training, ...Highlighting Agents...& What the goals were for the team and each agent for the week...

I have been in the life insurance business for about 10 years and I can finally say that I have found a home with Senior Life Services. I can go on and on and tell you how fantastic the leads are, how well you are compensated and how great the training is but what really sets SLS apart from most agencies is their kindness and consideration. 

SLS treats you like a real live human being, instead of just another agent in their large agency. You are an individual to everyone there and they all want to see you succeed because they realize that their success depends on your success and not the other way around. 

The home office really brings this notion of kindness and consideration home. The people that work there literally know every agents name by heart; they love to know how you are doing, how your family is doing and they care when something is wrong. When my father died, not only did I receive a call from the executives but also a card signed by the entire home office. I was also kept on string no questions asked and every time I called in to the office they asked how my family and I were. And to note that is one really cool thing about the agency, you never have to talk to an automated voice message – a human being always answers the phone!

From the first day of training to today, each and every day our work is to help people. The comraderie from management to make sure you are access is immeasurable to other companies I had worked for. Every team member and manager is personally responsible to give you the all the tools for success. The systematic presentation is true-tested by field agents whom are now managers and know what it takes to be a success. Each and every member can and will become management material from day one. Hard work is expected to start off but being frank, it gets a WHOLE lot easier after a few months.

I have worked where leads are "given" and ones you pay for? The leads that come from SLS are ones where the potential client SPECIFICALLY requested our information. Not only does that make it easier to approach, there are very little objections to overcome. The best is they are 100% free and are consistent around your area.

My experience at Senior Life Services has been tremendous. Overall, I would give my experience at 9 out of 10! The training, leads and support are especially strong. 

I have to admit, I was not sold on the commission structure at first; it seemed a bit low. However, I am now making twice as much money this year than last year when I had a bigger commission percentage. If you are wondering about the one point deduction, it is related to the market rather than the company. 

I love what I do at Senior Life Services and I love the company. Every person I meet is genuine and sincere. The managers are great. In fact, we have a training call with them every morning in order to pick up some great tactics and strategies. 

Working with Seniors can be a tad depressing, especially when you see cases of abandonment or abuse. Sometimes the neighborhoods they reside in can be rough, but I always leave my territory by sundown and have not had any problems. 

All in all, my experience at Senior Life Services is great. I would recommend working here to anyone. Not only do you help many families; but also, you can make a very good living.
