120 miles to nearest tertiary facility in Bismarck North Dakota. A lot of endoscopy upper and lower and biliary tact disease.  Pluses included an MRI. Operating room did not have HD 5mm equipment. But affluent catholic hospital system able to obtain most disposables. Good benefits and retirement package. No prior staff surgeon had worked for the hospital. As such I was responsible for initial practice set up in eluding permissions and consents and billing. Problems with this job included conflict with clinic schedule and case management of surgical patients. Overall interaction with administration was good. There was some hostility in nursing coverage of the OR. The weather in North Dakota is an impediment to outdoor activities. The small religious town of 15 thousand did not have offer social activities. Single people should think twice about working in this remote North Dakota town.

Very busy, high volume, with continuos challenges which provide learning opportunities. I have grown not only clinically but intellectually as well. Teamwork is what keeps the department going, collaboration from co-workers have proven to be the success the department brings to the hospital, and the reason why we are able to accomplish the goals that are expected. The hardest part of the job is sometimes not feeling secure, with the high acuity of patients that come through are doors, some with the potential for violence and are abusive towards staff. The most enjoyable part of the job is the personal gratification the job brings to you, that we are blessed to be able to provide help to those who are in need.

I register patients in the Emergency Department and I also work at the information desk. The majority time I'm registering patients in the ED. The workplace culture is not bad everyone at St Josephs Hospital is great and we all work together. Which includes doctors, nurses and tech's. We get all types of incidents and injuries and honestly theirs nothing hard about the job. Yes, patients get mad, rude however, that's apart of the job and its understandable because a lot of patients are like that due to the pain they are in. The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing patients walk out with a smile on their face or with that sense of relief.

I have worked at St. Joseph's for over a decade. I am proud to come to work and work along side of a great team of technologists that are dedicated and compassionate. I have worked for my manager for quite some time now. She rose through the ranks and I worked with her as a technologist and then she was my Coordinator and Manager.She has a difficult job running such a large department and it cannot be easy. I have the most respect for her.

I get to work with rehab patients anything from stroke to MVA.
I have been able to learn a lot working for St. Joseph's Hospital, love all of my co-workers, management is ok they deal with what they are handed. Hardest part about working at St. Joseph's is the people that end up on hospice or do not make a full recovery. The most enjoyable part of my job is seeing patients that came in not being able to walk, walk out of the hospital at time of discharge

I worked in the SICU unit and loved this job the learning was outstanding and continuous.
My spouse became terminially ill and I was unable to maintain my schedule so I needed to leave my position.Contract perdiem was offered but was not something I could commit to.
Management was supportive but did not have the ability to alter my schedule d/t needs of the facility.

I was a secretary II at St Josephs hospital. I worked in the Radiology Department. I worked the front and back offices and every other Saturday the emergency room. I learned how to run reqs for different procedures in Radiology. My co-workers were very nice and pleasant as well. I loved it so much that i decided to go back to school to see if I could become a Radiology Technician. Currently I am finishing up my pre-reqs and looking forward to taking my clinicals soon.

Worked there for 11 years. After Covid came about and staffing became an issue, administration lost sight of us staff drowning with patient care. Burn out is an understatement, so many seasoned nurses left and it seemed like they didn’t do much of anything to hold on to us. It really is their loss, our manager was the best, our staff was family, we gave 110% every day. 

Great company! Staff is excellent and managers really care. Turnover is low except in ROI dept. Pot lucks are fun, people are friendly, work conditions are good and schedule is good and flexible.

st. josephs offers is a quality driven environment where organization is top notch every surgical item from sutures to OR beds was readily available upon request and easily excessable doctors are more focused on the procedures rather then instructing and teaching. staff is focused with many employees having a long tenure
