Safeguard Properties

Very disorganized, constant changes to procedures to accommodate the high volume but refuse to hire new employees as upper management believes the team is overstaffed, however, expect employees to work like robots and handle the job of 3 people. 

Very little respect by direct managers, they do not know how to approach employees, Ive witnessed managers yell at employees from across the floor, very unprofessional.  

Low pay for what they expect, no room for advancement. Its a dead end job for most people and or a temporary job. 

Their only priority is production NOT quality. 
They do not care about Customer Service although their motto is Customer Service = Resolution. That may have been the case when the company was smaller with less volume to handle, however, as they grown they refuse to make changes to adapt to the new work load and over work their staff. 
 
No Department  at this company takes ownership of anything, each department plays victim and blames other departments when something goes wrong. It is just a very poorly structured company. 

Within my department no team member was happy. No job is perfect but when your entire team is whispering and talking behind managements back about wishing they could get fired/ quit and or looking for other jobs and i do mean everyone that is saying a lot of about the culture of this company. There will always be those few employees that are unhappy but usually it's their own fault, however, an entire team shouldn't be unhappy. 


For the managers that do what they can to fight for their team and actually care, I suggest you take your talents somewhere where you are appreciated. I was fortunate enough to have an awesome team leads, unfortunately he had very little authority as upper management stepped in.

I dealt with a variety of reporting parties and many complained about how awful Safeguard is compared to other preservations companies and its a shame that  SG is taking  over the industry. However before I left i noticed several clients ended their service agreement with SG and have switched to other preservation companies. I do not blame them, each client expects special treatment and if they are paying SG they should be treated as a priority unfortunately so do another 160 clients, not to mention cities across the USA and neighbors also expect to be treated with priority and  there is not enough staff and or manpower to handle the volume SG is at right now. And as much as the employees that do care, they can only do so much and upper  management is doing nothing to help. 
 
  The company has grown so fast in the past year I don't think they have caught up with the growth and or can. For goodness sake, even their technology is outdated, not to mention the daily computer failures and tech supper can't do anything about it. In fact I've heard rumors that there is a high turn over rate within tech support as well, no department is safe.

Been a vendor for safeguard for about 3 years now, at first when learning the field, and the software/computer work, reading work orders, and learning allowables for certain banks and safeguard clients,  it was very very stressful, but I stuck with it, up till 6am- 12am many days/nights, in the field,  processing pictures and work orders on my computer and Learning how to take the right pictures in the field, etc..you have to be a fast learner, hard working, multi tasking kind of person to do this job..my issues with this company are as follows; the pay for the amount of work they require you to do is low, below market rate, you cant work alone so you need to complete alot of volume of work in order to pay your expenses, insurance's, gas, labor, equipment, etc. And have enough left for your profit.. Management is always friendly, but it's hard to get in contact with your regional manager when experiencing issues in the field, or issues with work orders being sent to you that have mistakes on them, I'm sure they are very busy, and stressed as well. They are also sometimes very finicky about work you completed for ex., you finish a work order and send it in, and they send it right back to you, after you followed the instructions to a tee, expecting you to return to the property for FREE, and complete work you already completed, I could understand why they would do this to vendors that dont care and are in and out of properties, but not the ones who actually are professionals,.Common sense training is needed in the main office for employees that are reviewing completed work orders, or if this type of training is being utilized in the system on purpose, than safeguard is going to lose many good vendors, the people who keep the company afloat. We as vendors know there is a lot of turnover rates in the vendors field of work, and that's why safeguard needs to take good care of the long term vendors that are out everyday, giving safeguard there all.. I wanted this to be as accurate as possible in case anybody from high management at Safeguard reads this and wants to make some good changes to this company., a little more common sense in the office, and few dollars more per work type/ allowable wouldnt hurt, it would increase quality, and motivation, and production, which means more money for everybody.

Don't be misguided by my header. It's a good first job if you are okay with being a monkey forever. I'm a team lead who has staff making DOLLARS more than I do with zero experience. Safeguard has a very high turnover rate because of the pay and the horrible benefits. I've learned so much about property preservation from this company and I'm glad I got the opportunity to be a team lead but trust me when I say no way do the other team leads agree with how things are carried out. Whether it be discipline, the incentive programs or the production/quality expectations. We have to act like we support it to try to maintain the moral but I've just about given up on that. We hire trash, they look like trash and they work like trash then they get mad for being treated like trash. Those are the people we keep! It's stupid. The people who want to do well and ask questions are seen as problems because no one takes the time to get them answers and they are the ones that are ultimately let go. 

I'm proud to say I've gone to the extremes to take care of my team and I have not had a single person quit or be terminated but I am the exception to the rule and I've yet to see any other lead or member of management take that kind of time. We are all extremely busy at safeguard because of how understaffed they keep it but it wouldn't be so understaffed if we just sacrificed those few reports that upper management never looks at anyways. 

I'm in trouble if not weekly then monthly because I don't do all the reports I'm supposed to. I stand up to my superiors time and time again reminding them that I am not a business analyst I am a team lead. I can't lead a team that I can't talk to or help because I'm too busy working reports! I don't know how often I've had to put my superiors in check over this. 

This review is a little all over the place. To sum it up, I am a team lead/supervisor/business analyst who makes less than the staff and it's an extremely production driven company that does not apply the same rules across all lines of business. Extremely frustrating company to work for.

Well I think everyone I went to training with was given a different job description of what they got hired for so who knows what you are getting hired for. Everything you learn in training....throw it out the window. The minute you are on the floor everything you were taught does not matter. QC is the boss and what they say goes. I was told Safeguard never fires anyone, that is a joke. They are quick to let you go if you do not hit your UPH's. You as an updater have to fix what everyone else screwed up on, in an order. Once your off of QC it seems no one cares about being correct it is all about your numbers. Some team leads are approachable where others could not believe you just asked them for help!  Everyday there is something new to do in an order which it makes it impossible to meet your numbers. Rules apply to some not everyone. Safeguard will hire anyone anyone. People with no experience and education hold a higher position than I do and I have a BS. It's a high school environment management does more gossiping than the updaters. I feel like they set you up for failure. You do not get raises when you are told you are suppose to. Some employees do not even have a UPH to meet. Maybe Safeguard should update their systems to be able to hold more and be more efficient. Working out of a DOS is ridiculous. If people were trained properly they wouldn't openly admit the company losses $30,000 a day. You are a zombie by midday. This job sucks the life out of you and you will have nightmares. If anyone likes this place it is because they are probably not an updater. Team leads, trainers and management walk around all day bullshitting and on the phone all day. Don't be sucked in to this ";great employment" there is no job security and now I'm on the hunt for a new job. Working in a hostile work environment is not ok. Everyday you come in and worry what has QC emailed you, what was your score and will you get written up today or tomorrow. Run this place is not worth it. I was so excited to find employment after it took so long to get a job now I wish i had taken something else. It is not even close to what thery say the work is. 

Privately held company poorly run due to the total detachment of the COO from the associates with severe lack of appreciation of human capitol.  "Everyone is replaceable" is regularly said with frequent and blatant statements like "If you don't like it, you can leave."  These may be factual concepts of all companies, but frequent public reminders of such make it the unwritten motto and mantra of senior management that looms over all aspects of associate morale. Because of this, attrition is rampant requiring the forced promotion of lesser skilled associates to back fill key positions.  With inexperienced associates being left to learn the position on their own with little to no training, the relationship with the clients that trust their assets to Safeguard is further strained. This creates question as to the financial stability and longevity of the company as a whole. How these simple concepts are continually perpetuated and ignored further reinforces the detachment of the management.

Favoritism and nepotism is the key for promotion and provides protection from repercussions due to professional and ethical atrocities that occur on a regular basis from the director level and above.  Abuse of corporate expense cards, inappropriate relationships with subordinates, and other questionable practices fall on deaf ears and are promptly dismissed with no reprisal.     

The multitude of similar reviews about this company are not just disgruntled employees but true and accurate statements. A position here may fill a void on a resume, but it is no career and I'm unaware of anyone retiring from Safeguard.  The instability and overall culture forces good people to leave and corrupt people to thrive until their purpose becomes exhausted.

I worked there as a property preservation specialist for 4 years and a convey specialist for 3 years before being laid off during one of the many mass layoffs.  The environment was a great environment at first.  Once the founder started passing the reigns to the current CEO, things were headed downhill.  Once the founder passed away, everything was in chaos all the time.  The pay was good for the area, especially if you only had a HS diploma or GED.  You can earn performance based bonuses monthly in certain departments.  At one point, I had earned a $750 per month bonus on the convey team for 14 months straight so that was nice, although the stress probably wasn't worth the extra money.  It was an extremely stressful place to work most of the time though with low morale and constant fear of layoffs.  The last year I worked there, it seemed as if nearly every Friday, groups of people would be missing because they were told Thursday evening to not return due to layoff.  Lots of favoritism and politics involved with both upper and lower management.  HR team is wonderful.  The amount of overtime was both a blessing and a curse though.  When I was interviewed, I was asked if I minded working some overtime to which I said no.  The interviewer said that from time to time, management may ask people to work overtime is why she was asking.  There was a period of 18 months straight while I was in property preservation in which we were required to work a minimum of 8 hours of overtime every week, sometimes up to a minimum of 16 hours of overtime per week.  Needless to say, the question should have been phrased, "do you mind being forced to lose any free time you would have for more than a year because management doesn't know how to do your job, yet thinks they know your job better than you?"

I was recently an employee for Safeguard and I have to admit I believe that there are a decent number of reviews here from HR promoting this company to be better than what it is.. But in writing this I hopefully will help some people out on the good and not so good things about working here. 

Safeguard is first and foremost a business and money is their goal. From the top down you are told from day one that you are in a production environment and you must produce to stay. Which is true, to a point. Like any normal job, there is some play depending on how well you are liked by management. 

Safeguard has been expanding quickly and therefore has bitten off a little bit more that they can chew and therefore expect overtime. Which is GREAT if you want to work it. Many times I had 55 hour mandatory weeks. Which is GREAT if you want to do the work, and take home the money. 

The work is tedious as you will be interacting with computer systems all day, but the environment is changing and I would encourage people to go check it out before saying no. It really all depends on what department you get into, because the management really makes or breaks your ability to find satisfaction from a job in this place. 

There is the typical gossip (which I dislike greatly) and then there is the new employee incentives. This is a slightly stressful business and therefore if you don't want stress for 12-15 a hour, then don't work here. 

I would also recommend the Mentor office, as the atmosphere is more laid back and it is by far more peaceful. I don't see them going anywhere anytime soon, as a business, there are just too many foreclosures still. 

Overall I would tell serious business pro's to go work someplace else. But the average worker who is in need of a stable job that is not too stressful and that can offer benefits and overtime.. then Safeguard is your place. This could be a stable job for someone for a longtime, but don't expect the world here.

I answer a high number of customer service calls from our clients (the banks), homeowners, neighbors, brokers, etc,. and help answer their questions, concerns, and requests.

I learned different customer service skills throughout my tenure at Safeguard and expanded my knowledge as I moved up the ladder within the company.

Some individuals in management are a joy to work with and work for. They help their subordinates, care about their success and get to know them outside of work a little bit. They bring out the best in them and also highly respect their team members. Most managers at Safeguard are NOT like this as they bring out the worst in their subordinates, they disrespect them, only approach them when something goes wrong and they do not value their team members. 

Work place culture is a fast paced environment based on production and quality standards. Not very many people are happy there and it is not a great environment to work in. Many people are negative and disrespectful. This is one of the reasons why I am looking to move on. I would like to work in a somewhat positive environment where people are respected and valued. 

The hardest part of the job is dealing with constant changes and some are changes that make no sense and are not explained to us well. Safeguard does not have a great communication model in place and there is much confusion daily in the office. It is very stressful.

The most enjoyable part of working in customer service is having the ability to help others and also work with some great people. My coworkers are very diligent like me and are fun to be around.

Wow Safeguard properties..... where do i start.  I am going to try to be objective about this and open minded but the fact of the matter is there just isn't very many good things to say about this company.  If you work your butt off and Safeguard sends you 1000 late orders you will be responsible for their due dates even if they are that day or the next day on 25-35 orders.  If the safeguard system crashes (which is a weekly occurrence) and you cant submit work, no problem you'll be responsible for the order that go late as a result.  You are given a "cap" or maximum number of open orders which is set by you and your regional so you never get overloaded on work.  BS! they will give you as many over your cap as they feel like.  Use of the mobile app is now required for 75% of all your orders.  The app takes 3 times as long as traditional submission and crashes OFTEN.  You can make "good" money here if you work your butt off. good money is defined as  $1,200-$1,500.00 per week working 10-12 hour days and after subtracting 3-4 tanks of gas a week.  But always make sure your score card is perfect cause if it dips from any of the above reasons rest assured you WILL be replaced by someone with a higher score than you and you will no longer receive orders.  Bottom line is there are lots of good preservation/inspection companies that are out there but Safeguard properties are not one of them.  Don't waste your time or your money working for them  Check out their competitors and work for them, while safeguard may be good for their clients they are definitely not good for their contractors.  

I am a free thinker, I love to read and research;a typical day at work would be the computer systems freezing up. When that happens I work on filing sensitive documents or reading newly posted procedureS. If the computer is working properly. I would collect the data I need to analyze. I would begin my day by first checking all emails and responding to them, following up on previous emails or voice mails. Afterwards, I will proceed with my main task of analyzing data sent to me on a spreadshett from managent. While completeting my daily tasks I've lean throughlness and how to be objective. Management are sticklers for quality and will point out each time you've overlooked something, but rearly give us an at-a-boy when you do well.

My co-workers are real pleasent to work with we have made our team of 12 into a mini family. We all care for each other and back each other up when one falls behind. They would say I am the comedian of the group. I try to keep it light and laugh while working. The hardest part of the job is the Q/C re-check we do on each vendor, because they often disagree with our findings, but we are told to be very hard when reviwing their work for accuracy. The most enjoyable part of the job is when we complete the work that is assigned to us for that month as a team by the end of the month and we are rewarded a pizza party.
