I love working for a faith based organization- the focus is on the mission and employees are valued by management. Many of the health care organizations in town don’t have the same focus on the mission and caring for the whole person - body, mind and spirit. Saint Agnes has been a long time employer in Fresno and has the backing of Trinity Health which provides support to our local organization. 
The most enjoyable part of my job is the connections I get to make every day with employees, patients, family members and outside entities. I get to make a difference one interaction at a time. 
I also really respect the fact that the senior leadership team, including the president, make an effort to round on us and have town halls, and can be seen at employee events. They truly care about the well being of all of us and hold well- being fairs during the year. 
The pace here is very fast paced and expectations are high. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but people should know the company expects a high level of service and engagement. Overall it is a great place to work! I would recommend Saint Agnes to others and it does support its workforce and works to make the environment enjoyable for all. 

When I was hired at St. Agnes, I truly believed that since it is a non-profit, religious, institution; that care of people would come first. There is nothing further from the truth. They follow the money. If there are only a few staff members scheduled because it a "light" day and a doctor start adding on excessive elective surgical cases; do you think that management will call in more staff to help with the "add on" cases? Or ask the Doctor to add these case on another day with adequate staffing? Never! They overwork the staff that has the misfortune of working that day. Worse than that they actually put patients at risk because in order to accommodate the add-ons we are forced to move patients out quicker. Many times before they are clinically able to go. This scenerio is happening more and more in nursing and they wonder why nurses are leaving the field and staff morale is poor. There is a basic lack of respect of nurses at this and many of the other facilities that I have worked for. We are expected to "grin and bear" the abuse.

The staff at this hospital are wonderful. There is a real sense of "team" approach to the level of care given to patients. I have never had so much support staff to help me complete my duties (scribe to do my charting, tech for fetching my supplies and dressing my pt's wounds, RN for discharging my pt's and giving meds, etc.). This gives me more time to focus on the patient and their problem. When I first started, everyone would come up to me and introduce themselves and let me know that if I needed anything to just let them know. Most of the staff has been there for 5-10 years. If someone has been there 2 years, they are considered "new." At the last hospital I was at, you were seniority if you had been there 2 years! It is very nice to work with a large group of people that are happy to come to work every day. This makes going to work much easier and enjoyable and it also puts our patients at ease. I have to commend the techs, nursing staff and scribes for their outstanding work ethic and always wanting to put the patients care first.

A typical work day was always the same walk in see and hear everyone just standing around talking about non-work related topics. Some of the good people would be working but for the most part just BS. I would begin my work duties for the job i was doing that day, after awhile i stayed to my self because of a lot of gossip and non-work related topics that were always going on. I do have to say I'm thankful for learning aseptic technique and working in the IV room that was my favorite job position. I don't have much to say about management they seemed like they were on you'r side but come to find out that was false. The culture there was if you were one of the suck ups you were looked over by management but if you spoke out or made waves that didn't go with the suck ups you were the one in the spot light and not in a good way. The hardest part of the job was dealing with the lack of management and the lack of holding all people accountable for their actions even if they were a suck up of just a hard worker. Id say the only thing that brought me joy was learning how to make IV's.

I’ve been at my position now over 1.5 year. I was very nervous but once I got it down I was pleased and excited to work. I had very little experience but the training was helpful from other colleagues. It’s a very fast pace environment, at times you don’t get a break. It is fulfilling! To help others in need! If you can get through the first 3 months you’ll do great! It’s mentally and physically exhausting position but you have to have a “get it done attitude”.

St Agnes is a clean hospital and they seem like they care about the patients. That’s about all the good I can say. I was hired as a cna on NOC shift and I did not last long. Unlike other hospitals the CNAs have to work 5 shifts 8 hours while the RNs and LVNs do 3 12s. This leaves very little work life balance. The CNAs have a clique culture. As a brand new CNA , the other CNAs on my shift aside from the one training me would not so much as look at me, or say one word like hi or welcome or even introduce themselves. It was extremely awkward considering I was told that eventually I’d have to start asking them for help. Nurses mostly do  not help and there is a lot to do with only 8 hrs. Also, the shift scheduling on my unit was handled by another CNA. I’ve never worked anywhere where a member of management was not handling the scheduling. 

I start my day verifying each therapist has a fair work load, I follow that up with every few hours checking on the staff, verifying the therapy is being delivered in a timely manor or addressing other issues that may arise. I care for and relieve the ICU therapist for breaks and lunch and relieving staff for critical care transports, standing by in the ED or a lab. Staff assistance are the most enjoyable part's of the day. One of the hardest parts of the job is staff evaluation, they all work hard and are so dedicated I wish i could give them all more. The best part of my department is the brotherhood and team spirit. This group always felt like a family to me and there wasn't anything I would not do for them. My direct manager had a difficult job as the go between, her passion was the staff but her job was management, this is why she left day to day business in my care for our team.

Working in an Emergency Department for 4 and half years was very enjoyable as well as educational. A typical day at work would be registered patients, documenting their demographic information, coding insurance properly, answering phone calls and extensive paperwork. I learned from a young age what it was like to work in a professional and health care environment to help me build my skills to be more responsible as well as mature. Management was always helpful and understanding to all employees, especially during stressful situations in having to deal with the demand of the job. I can not think of a hard part of the job because I learned to adapt to the environment and requirements rather quickly. The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to work in a diverse group of professionals consisting of doctors, nurses, technicians and security guards.
