A typical shift depends on which shift you work. For first shift (7am-3pm) it is very busy right off the bat starting with getting mostly everyone ready and out of bed before breakfast. There are some residents you have to either feed or assist with eating. After picking up trays you will complete a round making sure your residents are clean and change them if needed (roughly 12 resident per CNA). Then once more after lunch you complete a round to have everyone okay before you leave at 3pm but during you shift you also have to complete 1-3 showers depending on the day. Sometimes Physical therapist or Occupational therapist will help you by using their therapy time working with the resident to shower. Everyone is always busy doing everything they can for the residents which is very difficult sometimes when residents with dementia work against you. Some residents can also be incredible rude but what helps you through that are the other residents being kind, working with you while helping them, and constantly letting you know how they appreciate you. The most enjoyable part is when you finally connect with your residents, knowing what they like/don't like, and laughing with them about things. The workplace is intense majority of the time but anyone who works in healthcare understands we are all working hard and help each other in whatever ways we can throughout the day.

Funny the job posting have the starting pay as $11+. I worked at Camden Place very briefly last year and they did us dirty on pay. The CNA I came in with as well as myself were not given more than $9.50 an hour. My years experience 7 and the other lady's experience was 20 years. Staff at night often wait in the parking lot before shift started to see how much staff was coming in. If it didn't look good, they'd call out. I remember being only a few days employed and they were ready to put me out there saying to me.."Well how long you been a CNA"...it really doesn't matter how long I have been a CNA, considering every facility is different and have different policies. The facility is broken up into villages with about 30 something residents in each village. At night it should be at least 2 or 3 CNA's per village. Somehow I was alone to care for a whole village because of callouts. The nurses do not help you. I did my work to the best of my ability and then when my shift ended, I never returned to work for them. I refuse to work under those condition.s

This facility is not what it seems at all. When you first start it seems that everyone is a team and will have your back. Management will not stand behind employees even when they gave the direct order. As soon as there is a complaint, they will throw employees under the bus. No room for advancement as most all higher ups are related or close friends. Regularly understaffed and under apprieciated. And are usually not given the tools to do treatments or give appropriate care to residents. Most of this steams from management, who will quickly overlook numerous issues until brought to the attention of state or residents families, then the blame falls to lower employees. No incentive for weekends like with most facilities, and no incintive bonuses for working extra days/shifts. Benifits are not that great, they no longer offer short term disability, however they do offer a week PTO per 6 months which can be used as sick or vacation time.

No support from management, NONE. No interest from management in the residents and their well being and their concerns. Always short staffed on EVERY shift. Very frequent turnover in all departments that results in poor continuity in resident care and staff knowledge. Few staff in services. An atmosphere of mistrust between staff and management. Front office sweeps concerns from families/residents under the rug or puts the blame on staff, who are working short-staffed every shift. 1 CNA for 30+ residents on a village on 7-3 shift??? Other shifts and weekends are the same, if not worse. Sometimes, no one shows up. 1 treatment nurse for 130+ residents. With short staffing, skin breakdown and wound issues have increased. Erratic staffing contributes to this issues, as well. State at facility frequently becuz of frequent family/resident complaints. DON'T CONSIDER THIS PLACE for loved ones or to work.  I'll be surprised if this review is posted.

The  Company Culture ;  Sanstone Health and Rehabilitation Home Office cares about their employees wellbeing. The opportunities for growth and advancements. The Administrator  is outstanding, his  leadership 
and his organizational skills has improver the quality of staffing which make Camden a Great Place to work.  Most of all I enjoy being a Blessing to our Residents each day.

The staffing challenges sometimes but we always overcome them.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The Administration team is Awesome ,  we  collaborate daily and we work as a team .  Camden has a peaceful work environment and  we respect one another. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is challenging, very busy and it  can be stressful at times. But I smile, have lots of laughs and we work as a team to get us through the day.

too many new staff members are coming in and not receiving enough training, previous employees have left and we end up working short and working short with staff members that should still be orienting. benefits changed drastically. they offer a 401k but you are not eligible until you turn 21. many employees that were with blue ridge took pay cuts when sanstone took over even though we were told we would all be compensated to make up for our differentials they were taking away. some of the managers are fantastic to work with and under, others not so much. recently management has been coming up with their own policies such as needing to have a four week notice when sanstone is only a 2 week notice..just little things like that and make it stressful for those who are just trying to make ends meet

On afternoon and night shifts not enough staff to give adequate care let alone good care of residents. This facility rewards Lazy staff and reprimands those who truly care about the patients. The Management will believe demented residents over residents who have all their faculties . Investigation of complaints is a joke the appropriate questions are not asked nor is the appropriate people .
They will fire a good caring employee and let a lazy uncaring employee continue to work . They ignore warnings about potentially dangerous employees until there are repeated injuries of several residents and state is brought in  .Then they scramble and try to hide incidents .
The on site management is so disconnected and has such lack of communication as well as hostility it is counterproductive.

I've worked in long term care for over 20 years, and SanStone understands the needs of their residents and staff. They put the needs of the residents at the top of their list. The facilities they build are beautiful and the older facilities are renovated to give the residents a nicer place to live. Working in healthcare is a struggle, but corporate continues to add innovative ideas to create the best atmosphere for the residents and staff. Staff benefits are competitive with the industry. There are many fun, extras they provide for staff throughout the year. I am happy working for them, because I know they care about the residents and staff, and are always working to stand above and beyond the traditional long term care setting.

Their facilities are typically not in compliance so the State is there constantly. They are really good at hiring people for a particular job and then switching their job duties once they are hired. There’s no formal training or support; and corporate is quick to fire people to make themselves look better. Their corporate staff have no idea what they are doing and can’t answer any questions that you have because they have no idea what they are doing. They don’t give you an employee handbook so you don’t know any of their policies.Their reputation is so low that if they do anything outstanding, your expectations can be slightly raised. There's nothing good about this company-- run away!!!

I  feel  as  if  Hendersonville Health  and  rehabilitation   is   the best  nursing home  to  work   for  the  following  reasons.
 It  is a  clean  environment.
All   of  the  staff  show a  genuine  concern  over  the  resident's welfare,
The  nursing Staff are all  knowledgeable  and  caring and  work  well  with  each  other.
The Food  department does  it's  best  to meet  the  needs  of the  resident's.
Our Director  of Nurses and  the  ADON  are  the  Best  any where.  They have a high ethnical  standards and are  truly concerned about the   residents while at  the  facility.
Our  Administrative Departments have  high work ethics  and  high standards.
The  Physical Activity Department  is  the  best in  the   surrounding  counties.
In general   a very good  place  to  work  and  be a part  of.
