Staff and direct patient care providers have big hearts, but admin management has no understanding of compassionate interdisciplinary patient care. Running the business is important, but not at the expensive of the quality of care.  Management lacks vision and basic people leadership skills. Pay check to paycheck atmosphere, as this is their second attempt to build a hospice business. Go in with eyes wide open.

This is a shady company to work for and management doesn’t know how to empower employees or organize clinical practices.

Everything about the job including scheduling, supplies, staffing and culture.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic and not worth the risk of license.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Overloaded, overwhelming, uncertainty, no response from leadership timely. Inadequate staffing.

The leadership team is very responsive, and office staff is easy to work with. I have worked at many agencies, and this place has a special feel to it. There are so many people willing to help, and other clinicians are so experienced and passionate about what they do. 

The culture was great and was the main reason i am still here. But now that it has taken a complete shift it is not worth working here. You feel appreciated and reassured at first but over time you learn those were false promises. I thought i had the opportunity to grow more and more with this company but turns out i do not. 

Sequoia is understaffed and don’t provide training. Upper management doesn’t care about employees and burn out is extremely common. One core value is “customer second” but they don’t follow that. There is no room for growth. They will tell you what you want to hear in the interview than give you all sorts of tasks and assignments not related to your role. 

What I love about Sequoia is that leadership practices what they preach. They lean on their core values and are very supportive. This company is a breath of fresh air for those used to a more top down approach in healthcare.

I had a good experience overall and learned a lot during my time there. Working with patients and their families in the home environment was especially rewarding and helped me grow both personally and professionally. I met many great people from all walks of life. It was a valuable experience that gave me skills I can carry forward.

I worked part time/per diem so I could adjust my schedule to my needs. I saw patients in the morning and scheduled personal appts in afternoons. I covered weekends 2 times a month. I felt part of a good team.

Working at Sequoia Home Health was very inclusive and very relaxed, and amongst the employees you can feel a sense of trust and respect among everybody. The office staff are committed to their jobs, and there is clear communication between them and the higher-ups.

Every day I'm presented with challenges but am given the trust and support of my colleagues to carry out the necessary tasks. It's rewarding knowing my work will lead to better care for our patients.
