Sewell Automotive Companies

Sewell has many dealerships and I'm certain a handful of them would be a better place to work than the specific dealership I worked at. This is aimed exclusively at the Sewell dealership I worked at. The corporate team is excellent and they do truly invest in your success. At the end of the day, any sales position comes down to producing and closing deals. Management played favorites heavily and always pretended to have your best interests in mind, but that was hardly the case. The amount of drama and office politics that went on was downright unbearable. People would constantly attempt to drag your personal life into the office. Management put on a quite well-performed theatrical performance of caring and empathy; both towards their employees and customers. The whole dealership was enveloped with an aura of judgement and belittling. Management loved to make deals work for their favorite sales associates, but would let a deal fall apart over a miniscule amount for their less favorable ones. I've heard better things about the other dealerships and saw first-hand when selling vehicles out of them, that they truly do seem like a better place to work. Overall I did not enjoy working for Sewell, but to each their own.

Valet manager - nags on valets to work fast and be productive but yet he doesn't do anything and hold his weight, he also likes to nitpick on the valets over non important or non related job things. The supervisor doesn't show any respect to the other valets working if we get busy ( which is all the time ) and he has to help he gets upset and has an attitude since he has to help due to being short staffed. They also dont have no flexibility on scheduling unless you have school. They expect you to show up to regardless if you cant " I dont care what the excuse is I want you at work the time I scheduled you to come in. " - Supervisor 

The associates in service are very fun to work with besides the management.


Their are many people at this dealership that i will miss, no one in management is on that list. I worked at a few of their stores, and the same negative things came up at both about the management team, especially the GM, he is unprofessional and rude. The make you feel like your not important to them until they need you to do something they don't want to do. The last reviewer was correct, they will be very nice to you for the first couple of weeks, then they will call you or text you and ask where you are at because they are too last to come down and see that you are doing your job at your desk. There are so many other great dealerships with way better classes of people to work with. Skip this one and move on so your don't end up wasting your time.

I worked here for 4 years and had goals set to move up within the company. I was hired by old managers but on my first day on the job they had replaced both managers and hired new ones. Those managers were absolutely horrible and treated the little people with disrespect. I was hired to be a service valet but the new managers decided that I wasn’t cut to do that position so they threw me down in the car wash. I washed cars for 4 years straight and never moved up or was treated with respect. The managers and GMs don’t care about the car wash people at all because you’re not making them the money. I wasted 4 years of my life working for a company that doesn’t care about the employees. You could wash 20 cars in a row and stop to drink some water and they would come down and threaten to write you up for not working.

Sewell is an excellent place to work to gain corporate training, sales and service experience, or build a long-term career. The pay is extremely competitive, the management is transparent and trains you well, and the fast-pace environment of sales and service is challenging, but fun.

Working on Saturdays is by far the hardest part of the job, but the company takes good care of you and you will feel appreciated when you have performed your job well.

I would definitely go back to work there under the right circumstances. Having a family with small children and two working partners/spouses is very difficult at Sewell, but doable if you are willing to spend money on after-hours child care and be away from you family in the evenings and on weekends. You will be well-compensated for the sacrifice.

Sewell is great. They treat you well, they pay you well, they give you a free car, free gas and free insurance. You are given the training tools you need to succeed and if you are a go-getter it is hard to fail in this environment. The downside is that you work nights, weekends, and holidays. Taking you day-off during the week is frowned upon. For a young single person it's awesome making over $100k but when it's time to start a family you realize that time is worth more than money.

Sewell is a great place to work with a great culture and great people. It's easy to give them everything you have in terms of effort, and they'll take (and pay for) all of it. The continuing education is great for managers. But while management is well versed in coaching salespeople, they are not getting enough direction on how to be better managers. There is no feedback for GMs or VPs, and no corrective coaching. Hopefully you get a good one. If not, you're out of luck. Being a customer of Sewell is the best because they will spare no expense in terms of employee time or effort to make you happy. But if you work there being put second to the customer, always, tends to wear you down. It can be noble work, but it would be nice to treat employees as well as customers.

Working within Sewell has shown me what a proper workplace should feel like. Great managers and managing styles are in place here. Unfortunately due to personal reasons I left the Sewell family but on my way out it was clear that I was welcome if and whenever needed. Utmost respect from all parties. Within my time spent here, I was highly satisfied with the work life balance, ability to address any potential challenges efficiently with leaders, and a great compensation for my role. Truly felt like a valuable asset to the company name. Great place to work if you enjoy a high energy and high potential for growth environment. 

At Sewell you have the ability to join a team, all on board with the same basic tenants of customer service. The pay is above average, and it is your choice to work more to earn more. They have made great changes to address work/life balance, and I would now say Sewell offers great opportunities for advancement. For me, Sewell is the only place to work in Texas. They have been around for more than 100 years, and that means everything. They have learned, and they have grown. Excellent company!

If you are a car wash specialist for sewell beware of the service manager or the GM. They will be nice to you at first, then bs begins. They will both treat you like dirt because your not making them any money. If your not a salesmen or a service advisory don't even work there. Ill go around looking for work after all my stuff was done, then Ill get yelled at for NOT DOING ANYTHING which is not true. They were all playing with RC cars while Im getting yelled at for walking around. 

WORST PLACE I EVER WORKED FOR NEVER WILL I EVER  RECOMMEND FOR WORK OR SALES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
