When I first began at sheetz as a salesperson I was happy with the environment overall. I had great employees I worked with on my shift and a few days off during the week to balance my life and relationships. However I quickly noticed how this job was beginning to takeover my life. Call outs were frequent and I could barely get a day off with out getting bombarded with calls asking me to come in and cover a shift. The stress of the job started to take a toll on me. The implementation of new rules made the MTO system not run as smoothly. It seems as if Sheetz is taking a  massive turn for the worse in an attempt to be this larger than life mega store/gas station/restaurant. The menu has become so extensive and complex that it completely defeats the fact that they pride themselves on being so convenient. Most customers get annoyed trying to order food and are completely overwhelmed with the rather confusing and misleading order points. 
 
Sheetz likes to push for orders to be put out under strict time limits, and have unrealistic expectations of employees and management. 

The MTO system works in low-mid volume situations but absolutely crumbles under high volume situations, which is what sheetz wants since they get more $$$ in the end and meet their goals for food sales. 

Sheetz is, IMHO, trying to do simply too much instead of remaining simple, convenient, and perfecting what was already working so well. As if the drive thru isn't a disaster enough, and there isn't enough options, they want to add frozen yogurt bar areas to the mix (think sweet frog) among other things like dispensable oatmeal. It seems like they just want to fit everything they possible can into their stores yet don't want to allocate the proper hours to run the place and keep it clean. It's Ludacris! 

Depending on your location, prepare for fast paced, stressful work, no breaks or very short ones unless you are a minor, and covering shifts (very high turnover rate due to employee dissatisfaction). Both locations I worked at were high volume stores and work became unbearable at times. This was mainly due to the fact that the scheduler program detonates a certain amount of hours that are allowed to be used by the store on a given week. However the hours never seem to be enough. What this translates to is under staffing and more stress put on the employees to do more. (This also means more money gained by the company since they aren't having to pay for those extra hours that are needed to properly run the store). I recently had stepped up to be a supervisor and things have only gotten worse. My location has a drive thru, and to be honest I will never understand why sheetz decided a drive thru would be a good idea. It's not convenient whatsoever ! All food is made to order, meaning it's not even started until someone orders, this increases order times and lowers customer satisfaction with the drive thru. I've been to other sheetz drive thrus and they are all so slow! It doesn't make sense. On top of that sheetz has made it so customers can order anything through the drive thru including cigarettes which just gets in the way and causes more trouble than anything.  

The one good thing about sheetz is it's benefits and if you have good coworkers to keep you sane, the days can go by fast. Also job security. Given the high turnover rate, sheetz seems to hold on closely to anyone who actually shows up and works. Other than that I would look elsewhere or atleast learn your location more before applying. I am looking for a job elsewhere and will be leaving very soon before things get any worse.

On the surface Sheetz pays well for the intended job, however they often understaff the employees and any sort of bonus is based solely on online customer reviews. Many of the customers aren't going to spend the time to go online when they don't even have the time to eat and gas up at two different places. not only that but they only reward for the highest reviews, and insist that we tell every customer about the review which takes more time to explain that most people plan on being in the actual store. no one wants to sit have ANOTHER online survey pushed on them, especially a place that's supposed to provide lightening quick service. they do not provide a shift differential even though the third shift is often just as busy as first or second and often have as little as 2 employees making it impossible to get a break. on the bright side your food will be 50% off IF you do get that break. also the turn over is so high your often stuck with someone that is supposed to be fully trained but actually has no idea what they are doing because they've made a handful of the food options once and then are thrown into the shift. its a very fast paced environment so it takes some time to actually get to a speed where you can be left with the few people they schedule in a single shift. 
on the bright side if you can get past the hazing from the long term employees, there is a real sense of comradery among the employees as a result of the strenuous shifts and often unreasonable expectations. they do provide healthcare for employees that work full time but its nearly impossible to get full time hours unless you are in some level of management. another positive is if there is a new food item coming out (which there often is resulting in an enormous menu that's hard to keep up with and familiarize with) you get to try one item for free to prove to the management team that you are capable of reading the instructions on the screen in the kitchen. oh boy. 
ultimately I learned a lot in my time with sheetz. I learned time management skills, I learned how to communicate in stressful situations in a professional manner and how to convey my challenges to other employees to achieve our common goals. I learned the importance of working with a team and also the benefits of working independently. I was able to discover and hone my appreciation for working directly with the customer which proved to be my favorite part of the job. often you find yourself helping people in very simple ways but if done with the correct skill the gratitude you receive is surprisingly rewarding. it was a long ride with sheetz but in the end I learned a lot and I earned every single penny they begrudgingly gave me. I pity the employees whos lives will be effected when the company itself becomes its own demise.

I work 3rd shift (overnight). They cross train, so sometimes I’m on Register or Kitchen Duty. As a 3rd shift employee, we don’t get any respect for the hard work we do on a nightly basis. We have to clean the whole store, ring up customers, work a drive-thru as well, clean restrooms, sanitize for COVID-19, all while being fast paced for only 3 people working. We only get 4 people on our shift when we’re training. On 3rd shift, we usually can’t keep employees bc they see how quickly how much work we have to endure while the other shifts complain about us. It’s really taxing on someone’s mental health and the ability to perform well when you’re overworked. Sure, the pay is alright considering there are many other convenient stores/gas stations/ fast food places paying way less, but when you’re understaffed and fighting to get all your tasks done, while not getting any respect, it doesn’t feel like enough.
Kitchen duty for nights: you are responsible for cleaning the kitchen, doing dishes, taking care of outdated codes on foods, restocking supply for next shift and yourself, cleaning the back kitchen where dishes are done, preparing orders (many orders) all while listening to customers complain.
Register Duty: you are responsible for cleaning the whole sales floor, including restrooms, and behind the register/drive-thru (if you have one), cleaning the coffee machines, sweeping and mopping, stocking cups, lids, straws, bags, and various other things, stocking the ice, helping the kitchen when orders are too much (when you can get away from the register), stocking the ready to eat section, and making sure things run smoothly for the next shift (first shift). 
Some nights are easier than others, but some nights you can’t get everything done, and when that happens — the other shifts will complain about you.
Usually when a company says they are like family, I’ve learned that it’s a red flag. Co-workers will be toxic, talk about you, won’t exactly help you out (because 9/10, they are also super busy). 
The bonuses we usually get are alright, but it’s competitive of course.
Also, health benefits don’t kick in until you’re there for 9 months (if you work more than 30+ hours a week, and working that much is never promised) (also, let’s say you do work at least 30+ hours a week and you qualify for the benefits, then you have a bad couple weeks of hours, they’ll still take the amount of your paycheck, so there can be some struggling depending on the amount of bills you have), 401k doesn’t start until you’re there for 3 months, and no one really takes Covid serious and if you call off because of any symptoms or whatever reason — be prepared for them talking bad about you. Good luck if you decide to work here. I hope you have a better experience than myself and others. 

I really enjoyed my time at Sheetz and would be open to working there again under the right circumstances. I appreciated the opportunity to develop my customer service and food preparation skills. However, there are several areas that could be improved, particularly at my store.

Being a 24/7 operation, staffing can be a significant challenge. Later and overnight shifts are often understaffed, making it difficult to keep up with the dinner and late-night rushes while completing tasks like food prep, cleaning, restocking, trash removal, and propane exchanges. On busy shifts, this workload can be overwhelming, and I sometimes felt that it was impossible to manage all responsibilities effectively.

Some potential solutions could include ensuring proper staffing levels, especially during peak hours, simplifying menu items or workstations to reduce complexity, and implementing set shift schedules to balance workloads more effectively. Based on my experience, having a minimum of 5 staff per shift (3–4 during slower periods) in addition to management could help maintain a smoother operation and reduce employee stress.

Overall, I valued my experience and the skills I developed at Sheetz, but I hope future improvements can address staffing and workload challenges to make the work environment more sustainable and supportive.

Sheetz is a good company, for the most part. I genuinely think they care about their employees, but the execution of showing it can be poor. Yes, they certainly pay better than some places (although, is money ALL that matters? No.) but that really just means you're desperately understaffed ALL THE TIME. Regardless of business needs, there are 3 people per shift (given sometimes a shift spills in to another, giving 4 people for a few hours every now and then). That includes management. Business has been picking up in recent years and the company has not found a way to create a better working environment (i.e., not be understaffed) to compensate. The feeling among people who have survived over a year is "oh well, this is just what we have to work with". Salespeople often complain about this, but management doesn't have much control (typically set at corporate). Other than that, I've generally had nice, relatable managers who do try to promote a positive environment. A good manager really makes a difference, but a lot of the ones they've been hiring seem to be unready to work in the store when they arrive (lack of training), although this issue does seem to be getting better. VERY high turnover rates and a lot of calling out, mainly because it can just be very overwhelming, really. Salespeople have been seeing a lot of their autonomy taken away recently, too (can no longer give discounts to other employees, cannot do returns, cannot give coupons to customers when an order is messed up). This really just creates a lot of inefficiencies in an already under-staffed store. Another thing is the sad life shift supervisors and manages must have... Managers/shifts are REQUIRED to work 40-hour weeks, NOT including the shifts they are required to cover if someone calls out on their shift/the upcoming shift and no one will cover. This leads a lot of shifts to be working 50+ hours a week, sometimes with no days off. That happens more often than it should. I think a solution to this would be to allow part-time shift supervisors... because why not? Seems stupid, to me. They do offer dental and vision insurance to part-time employees (16+ hours/week) and healthcare to full-time, which is a nice perk if someone plans to make a career out of Sheetz. Discounts are 50% off of Sheetz food on shift, 10% on everything else... 10% off everything when off the clock (not gas, age-restricted things). The typical shift is 8-hours, but honestly, some people are scheduled 10 hour shifts, too, which is just wrong. Weekly hours jump up and down, so it's hard to know from one week to the next what you'll be given, and managers sometimes show favoritism in this area.

I felt that once I reached third shift there were many tasks I was unfamiliar with. First and third have different shift tasks. Third shift 90% of the time seemed under staffed. Most nights I was the only person working the kitchen with limited help due to either limited training of the other employees, or the register was too busy to help in the kitchen. I rarely ever left when my shift was supposed to end. I usually had to stay over to do tasks like freezer pulls, or waste product. Third shift should really have three employees. I worked third shift for two to three months. Slow nights were few and far between I could count the amount of slow nights on one hand. So having three people for the entire shift isn’t unrealistic. Two weeks into working third shift I would go into work with anxiety about how horrible the night was going to be. I felt like too much was asked from me and that some of my co workers were out of touch of how difficult the shift really is. I quit not because of the pay I quit because of the stress. I could have been offered a $4 on the hour raise and I would not have taken it. My store had four different managers the time I was there. No other stores wanted to help when someone would call in (which was very frequent) due to the store being such a distance from other stores. Sheetz attendance system is very flawed I drove two hours to help a store out. The manager told me to hold off and clock in later. When the manager got back early from a meeting she told me I could leave. I had multiple points go against me for clocking in late and leaving early. This was ridiculous and no one “could” change it so the points stayed. This happened several other times I was told to come in later or come in early and leave early. A majority of the time this schedule changes were not changed in Kronos and I was told they would adjust the points off if I ever reached a certain amount. I felt the buck was passed a lot with this company. Time and customer satisfaction takes precedence over quality amongst other things. I would not recommend working for this company unless you want a part time job and some extra money. I had intentions of possibly having a career since I was hired into management with this company but I quickly learned that was not going to happen. Also there were a couple of nights I was not able to have a lunch break due to understaffing, and I also rarely got a restroom break from 2 am to 6 am. I am also hypoglycemic so my blood sugar could have been a concern. I was denied a lunch break by another supervisor on two different occasions.

I worked on Baltimore Street in Gettysburg, PA for a year. When I was first hired I had a great experience, I was trained properly on how to do my job, there was a lot of happiness and hospitality and the store worked very well together as a team. When I was first hired the Store/General manager was out on medical leave and there was a stand in manager. When the store manager came back a lot of things changed. There was a lot of hostility within the work place, the shifts were less hospitable between one another and the store manager was always trying to find someone to call into her office to yell at ( i mean yell literally). She was very unprofessional when she spoke to employees about their "performance issues" and had little respect for the work and home life separation. Working in a tourist town and being right off a major highway we got a lot of service and were constantly busy, because we were so busy and we were typically understaffed the employees (managers included) tried to be a little more lively and we would all make jokes ( none that were NSFW or inappropriate or rude) because of how stressful it was sometimes but she had a problem with people talking at all. She created a very hostile work environment to the point that we had a very very high turn over rate with sales associates leaves constantly, 3 supervisors leaving/dropping down, two managers leaving, and another manager who almost left. The distract manager was no help at all and simply ignored situations that were right in front of him. Because sheetz is a corporate run company and not franchise there were supposed to be mandatory team meetings every couple of months and people from other stores would replace everyone in the store so the entire store could go somewhere and discuss the progress of the store, goals and ect. Most stores did fun things like going bowling, have food, and stuff like that because the company gives each store a budget to plan the meeting/party. Sadly though on the last store meeting I was there for (I left early because of how disappointing it was) the manager had all of the employees meet at the store (even though people were already there from other stores t cover for us) and we all sat in the dining room (which is meant for customers) and they just talked to us and had employees walk around the sales floor and do work. It was pretty disappointing and in no way did it help the team bond.

Absolutely wonderful company to work for. Decent pay and great benefits. With that being said, there's always room for improvement. Certain managers and shift leads are super clicky, unfair and inconsistent. Without constant and proper oversight of all management and their varying methods of leadership and treatment of others. This causes lots of discourse at the store level among the associates. Complete and utter laziness from certain managers and associates. Some coworkers would hardly be expected to do much, while others including myself practically ran the store front and kitchen ourselves. Soo much so, that vendors and customers noticed and would make comments or assume I was the store manager. Also, depending upon what manger or shift lead is there for that shift, determines how you get treated, and who gets to walk around talking, while you literally work your hands to the bone...but are getting paid the same wage. The work is NEVER dispersed properly or fairly, and the best workers get the short end of the stick I can promise you. Very busy, high-volume stores where you will wait on and make orders for hundreds of people a day...if not more. Corporate seems to be more and more out of touch with what is truly expected out of their lowest paid employees. They are constantly expecting EMPLOYEES TO DO MORE AND MORE, but it is never dispersed fairly or properly. They also expect you to be faster than any cashier you have ever witnessed... without a proper scanner built in the counters. Most customers practically grocery shop there and are not purchasing just a couple items...so you have to pull each item across the counter and scan and bag it all yourself with a handheld scanner and not one built into the counter like a high-volume store needs. It would be easier on your body to work at a busy Walmart all day. They care more about the customer and their bottom line than their employees. Including when you're being harassed for no reason or stalked by some creep...EVEN WITH WITNESSES AND VIDEO PROOF! I would NOT advise this job to many, but ESPECIALLY females...they will not ban stalkers from the store even when they have aggressive tendencies and are a risk to employees personal health and wellbeing. After a normal shift you will hardly be able to move or walk because of the constant and consistent workload. 

When I started out at this company, I was in a Sheetz store that had a GREAT manager that both customers and workers adored! I was able to refine some of my customer service skills and other retail skills while I worked at Sheetz. But, he accepted a promotion and ended up leaving us and that's when things went downhill fast! 

Our next manager was a TASO (an in training manager) and wasn't bad. He treated everyone with respect and was a pleasure to work with. Once his internship was done, the next TASO arrived and he was a nightmare! He never followed anyone's availability, and when corporate decided to cut hours because we were in a "slow time," he cut them good, so bad I had to get another job part time because he wouldn't work with me in regards to hours and I needed money. This TASO also was not manager material that many long time workers at the store quit because they couldn't work under him. 

Once his internship was over, the next TASO arrived and she was a nut! She would sit in the manager's office and watch everyone on the store cameras work, or not working, and reprimand them in front of everyone. She also had a rule that you HAD to ask permission before leaving your assigned area (e.g. going to the restroom or getting a drink). 

Once her internship was over, the next manager came in and was only there for 3 months before getting promoted! During his time at the store, he was not a manager, he was a follower to the district manager. Whatever she said, he did - no matter what!

After all this turmoil of having a new manager in less than a month tops, the company's attendance policy is a joke! They don't care who they get rid of, yet, they claim their employees matter. They weigh attendance on a point system and once you have enough points, sick, injured or not, you're fired!

Finally, don't get injured on the job like I did because management at the store will NOT follow doctor's orders and force you to work when you physically can't. Because I was bullied by the store management so bad during my injury, I had to get an attorney involved to take legal action against this horrible company.

If you're looking for a new job, STAY AWAY FROM SHEETZ!!! They find ways to get rid of employees no matter your role, you'll be underpaid but given lots to do, you'll be bullied in more ways than one, and you'll be going to work miserable and leaving just as miserable if not angry and aggravated.

Sheetz is a good company to work for at a salesperson position or for upper management levels.  As a salesperson each employee provides an availability schedule that the manager uses to schedule them on a weekly basis so they never get scheduled outside of their availability unless asked under special circumstances.  The downside of the salesperson position is that hours are not guaranteed and quarterly bonuses are much smaller (between 50-100 dollars).  Upper management levels have set schedules and much bigger bonuses.  Middle management titles at the store level are called Shift Supervisors.  The plus side of this position is that you are guaranteed 40 hours per week.  The down side is the schedule.  Middle management works every weekend as part of their set schedule and is responsible for covering call offs, working on their days off and/or working 12 hour shifts.  If a weekend day is needed off (or any day for that matter) it must be requested off and if granted hours are short that pay unless one has vacation or personal hours accumulated and wishes to get paid for that day by that means.  Also their are 4 shift supervisors at each store and 2 of them are steady midnight shift and 1 of them is 2 midnight shifts that go into 3 afternoon shifts.  Bonuses are much smaller than upper management and not much more than a salesperson.  The hardest part of the job and the most enjoyable part of the job can be the same thing and that is dependent upon who you are working with that day and the different personalities and work ethics of the people you are scheduled to work with and manage for the day.  Some people are negative, provoking, and do not take direction for the betterment of the team and do not like their job or to work.  This can be the hardest part of the job.  The flip side to them would be the co-workers who like their job and they either know what to do without request or oblige to manager requests without hassle.  These type of co-workers have positive attitudes and are my most enjoyable part of the job.  I learned a lot at Sheetz so here is a brief summary:  managing and handling money, customer complaints, quality control, appearance of merchandise, cleanliness of store, ordering of products, inventory review, etc.
