There is a complete lack of leadership at this plant. No one knows how to successfully work associates five days a week even though the maintenance of the machines ARE THE PROBLEM. Get experienced maintenance and tooling candidates that can get the job done, and hire candidates that will not stick a bandaid on it for two hours until the machine goes down again. They knowingly have issues with leadership but HR acts way to slow to get them out the door to get a candidate who actually works hard and can manage their team on the floor. They give temps the option to not work weekends but they don’t give the option to their own direct employees. Management gives employees empty promises or they state that this new policy is going to be rolled out but they don’t finalize or implement what they say they are going to do. Then, when management is confronted as to why policies aren’t being implemented, they blame it on corporate every time. No one wants to make an effort to lower turnover. The attendance policy is a complete joke. HR will fire certain people at the top attendance point limit, but they will keep others employed who are over the term limit on their points just to get parts out the door. You are just a body to them. The HR Manager sits behind a desk all day with the door shut. Constantly uses the excuse of “I am in a meeting.” The only time she comes out of her office is during Town Halls once a month and then blames corporate for why she doesn’t ever get anything done. Us floor employees have heard “It’s been passed on to corporate, it is out of our hands” from her every time we see her once a month and then we never see any result. HR doesn’t know people by their names, shifts, etc., nor gives them the time of day. The HR Manager doesn’t make an effort to get out on the floor and know her people. The one HR Generalist who just left the company was the only one that truly cared about anyone and anything. The plant manager tries to get that place running but has minimal support from his leadership team. The people on the floor are good, hard-working people. I have never met such kind-hearted individuals and I made some great friendships. The pay is great and the benefits are great, but you are just another body to these people. If you need the money and you don’t mind working literally everyday, then this place is the right fit for you. Just a heads up, they have worked 7 days a week for the last 3 years, some federal holidays off but not all. Just know that management will make your life harder. Don’t take anything they say to heart and always watch your back. Keep a paper trail and constantly be asking questions.

A furnace tech makes only marginally more than a normal production employee. They say anything to get you in the door. I left a higher paying job for the optunity to work a "regular shift with occasional overtime." Well that lasted about a week. I usally work 6-7days a week with half of the days being 12hrs. 7 days a week are more common than 6. 
The job itself is hard. Lots of things to learn to become good at the job. Lots of little things you pick up from workers that help get the job done. Everything is at a burning level of hot. Furnaces are malfunctioning or broke, but you are expected to keep up with production. Everyday some peice of equipment you are supposed to use for normal production is broken or malfunctioning. All machines in the plant leak.
The furnace workload is unrealistic. There isnt enough time in a work day to preform all the cleaning and preventive mantance the frunaces need. Production doesnt slow down for a cleaning. So people just lie and say it was done. The lack of mantinance eventially cause the furnances to go down. No or little discipline is given out over the issue due to constant shortage of furnace personnel and the fear of management that they will just quit.
Harder more dependable workers end up getting punished in the form of the person that has to clean out the clogged furnances.

Lack of furnace or any production personnel lead to mandated overtime. Furnace personnel have to be in the plant on non production days for machine furnace cleanings. Shortage of furnace personnel also leads you to skip or shorten your paid brake because no one of value is there to cover your job while you are on brake. Other departments of the plant have a group or team lead that cover brakes. Furnace dept dont have one.

Some supervisors don't seem to be knowledgeable of there employee job placement responsibilities, if they do know job placement then they reflect poor leadership skills as well. Never been with an industry that lacks quality control but this one certainly has none. I've witnessed parts taken off hold to make an expedite truck and before hold was removed would think there would be couple random parts inspected for hold issue, hold tags removed and not one part inspected. I have seen same operators doing the same thing for months. Thats you high turn over, holding a person back, they're bored and not challenged. you have some burnt out from over strenuous jobs that the same people do for a year and wonder about quality issues being slipped through and shipped.They don't apply themselves and why should they, no appreciation for trying so no one will notice if they don't. Completely understand environment attitude. Not energetic or positive. Unless drastic changes are made the turn over will continue. Your supervisors aren't there to make friendships there to do a job and surprised at some of the years experience I heard because its not at all what it should be and if you don't change the people or positions then you will have below average employees and expect the same results. Late shipment and quality issues.

The company should be renamed to Bad Management Company or BMC for short. Layer after layer of supervisors and leads walking around doing nothing except attending meetings and walks which adds nothing to the bottom line. Some actually harass the people doing the work slowing down repairs and procedures even more.Company misses budget targets by enormous amounts- plenty of money available to hire more management non contributors but no money available to people working for years without raises, not even cola. Company takes vacation earned away from people who quit or get fired-which happens a lot- not sure what they do with that stolen money, but whatever it is- working people dont see it. Paychecks sometimes come up short- never over-you will need to become a lawyer and prove their mistake rather than you question the amount. You might get a job and after you get started they will move you to a completely different job based on their current job opening need crisis of the moment, rather than utilizing your skillsets. Work environment is dirty, toxic and work schedule is filled with words like mandatory rather than voluntary overtime. You will make money but you will work without days off for long periods of time. Get used to being lied to about everything. The attendance policy is a boondogle of favoritism. What's good? End of the shift- that is good.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The pay is ok in some jobs. Some of the management are pretty nice.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No personal time off. Most have 2 weeks of vacation, but this year we have to use 2 of our days the week of Christmas, since we are off that week. (Unless they tell us we are behind and need to work). Also, not much technical training although you are expected to do technical Trouble shooting and light repairs. So, if we are sick or need to make an appt, we have to use our vacation. Since there are no sick days either. Most people come to work when they are sick . Also, they seem to terminate people pretty often with little to no warning. So, from day to day. It could be our last. No job security.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Overall everybody's pretty nice except a few who walk around with cameras. Trying to catch people doing stuff.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start off with daily assignment. Startup machine. Work pretty independently unless there are problems.Fill out paperwork and computer information. Shut down machine, clean up , go home.

I'm writing this as Indeed is blocking me from seeing all the reviews for another company until I write something. Here is your review. As far as pay goes the compensation is adequate if your single and don't have alot of debt. Work hours. 8-12 hrs a day. Don't bother making plans as more often than not o.t. will happen and more often than not it's required despite what they may tell you. I can say O was never forced to work weekends so their is something positive. Actual work culture you'll typically work on a line with 3 or 4 others. This can make the job better or harder depending on the "personalities" of your coworkers. Don't expect much help from others or management. You get paid days off and they offer basic healthcare benefits, etc. I'm cutting in this short as I don't have alot of time but bottom line is you'll often have to deal with the fallout of bad or lack of decision and judgment from the management. It's not the worst place to work but their are better jobs out there. This one just pays a little better due to being union. Don't get your hopes up the union is practically useless. There ya go that's the reviews.

I would only refer someone to this company for the referral bonus that is offered. I personally have a horrible experience with this company. Their point system is horrible and confusing. Don’t call in because it’s always a recording line and they don’t tell you how it works so you never do it right. There heat/air in not regulated, 110+ in the summer & 60-90 in the winter. No breaks other than the paid 30 minute lunch. Don’t spend too long or go to often to the bathroom or everyone will lose their minds and say you’re not preforming your job. The management says they care about employees, but yet terminate you even if you provide doctor notes. They say they will accommodate you, only to lie to your face. Machines are always broken or breaking down. Extreme amounts of overtime, generally 7 days a week. Some of the OT is voluntary but more than likely it will be mandatory.

This is a great job if you don’t have family, or any life outside of work. You’ll make a good chunk of change but you will love and breath for them.

This company is the worst i have ever worked for!!! The Management sucks and shows favoritism to certain individuals! Longevity and years of service doesn't mean nothing! there is no accountability or standards! Most of the equipment is old and outdated & Not properly maintained or serviced! The employees there are treated like "ditch diggers" as said by the HR manager in an employee meeting! No direction or structure in any aspect of scheduling or equipment repairs! They seem to reward or over look certain individuals that have no productive contribution towards improvement and safety! There seems to be no initiative to be proactive in any aspect, only reactive. And then there is no parts to repair machinery! Always on credit hold with vendors, expected to work 7 days a week, have to use vacation time to get days off to see family, but yet express they are a family oriented company! 

It is an enjoyable place to work.  Typical day at work is to go out in the plant thru out the production lines and see if any problems have occurred from the previous day.  There are always assigned projects that we would work on so if the time is allowing us, we do work on a projects, such as improvement on the production line.  
Management for the past two years have been significantly changed unfortunately in a negative way, bringing the moral of the place very low and making many people to quit from their jobs and moving in a different companies, all of that caused by a one person. 
All of my co-workers are a great deal of people and it is a pleasure to work with them without no exception.  The hardest part of the job is to deal with the one person who is trying to keep people under pressured and underestimated.  The most enjoyable part of the job is to go on the field inside the plant and just explore the machinery, because there are so many things that can be learned from the floor on our plant because of the different varieties of machinery.
