I have worked in the Rehab Department for about 6 years at Sholom. It's one of the few companies that employ their own Rehab staff versus using a third party Agency  for staffing. It's nice to be part of a regular staff, most of which have been there for many years because of how much they also enjoy it. Staff are respected, salary is very good, benefits are competitive, the atmosphere is friendly, opportunities for education and advancement. You feel part of a community and get to know the other staff well and work together to help give quality care and quality of life to patients. The facility is nice and constantly being updated to avoid any feeling of a "nursing home".  The Rehab Manager and Director of Rehab (as well as other Management in the company) have all been the BEST I have worked for! They are Therapists as well and understand, work together through challenges, don't micromanage, and set realistic expectations. Sholom is a really great place to work and you really do feel like you're making a difference, not just punching a clock. I HIGHLY recommend!

For the most part I enjoy working here, however.
There is good and bad.
Communication can be quite poor, among management and staff. I have voiced concerns many times and they mostly just get brushed off as you’re doing too much, or that’s not important. Like when we had a staff member partaking in certain illegal activities at work I was told you need multiple people to report something before anything can be done. 
A good thing though is that Jewish culture is respected and upheld.
And I enjoy the yearly group training they offer. It’s a nice refresher of the rules and regulations.
I will say that the pay for the work we put in just isn’t enough. It’s hard to justify staying because it’s very hard to afford working here. If they paid more they would keep higher quality staff. It’s been like a revolving door! Which can be hard because most days we are under staffed. But I guess if you like overtime this is the place for you, but be warned. Once they know you are willing to pick up shifts they will never stop asking you to come in early, stay late, or do doubles.

Sholom hires the most passionate, caring people  who actually do their job!!! They NEED TO FIRE FIRE THE INDIVIDUALS  WHO ARE LAZY AND DO NOT DO NOT DO THEIR JOBS.  IF THEIR ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT MEETING QUOTAS,  NUMBERS, OR OTHER BOTTOM LINE BUDGET #S IT IS NO REASON TO LET THEM GO IF THEY HAVE A GOOD HEART, KNOW THE residents,  in and out and are always there for the residents.   What is GOING ON OVER THERE?  Why is it that every week there are so many job openings on both campuses?  Too many things NEED to be fixed and it will take A LONG TIME to do all the things that are not right with the SHOLOM Organization. PLEASE wake up and recognize what needs to be fixed with all that is broken within your organization.  The ones that are most effected ARE THE RESIDENTS AND THE STAFF.  PLEASE START LISTENING TO BOTH GROUPS!!

What is the best part of working at the company?
i loved my job n care the residents . Seeing them always made my day happy . i made  some really good frnds too .

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
First  no  support from management for residents or aides , always short staffed  ,I'm really proud of the effort I put in for the residents, but it's hard knowing I couldn't do more, especially with the management letting someone go due to personal connections. that hurts more then anything even there was so many written documents they did not cared . 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
management does not care anything . if another person is there favorite person they will let that person do whatever they want even they say it's a rule .

The worst place that I have ever worked!  They terminate employees without any explanation and I do not know how they get by with it.  I hear that they force employees who are suddenly terminated to sign a form agreeing that they will not take any action against Sholom or they will not get the small severance that they offer.  
The executive management team shows little respect for the residents or their families.  The executive salaries are very high and the salaries of the hard working staff who care for the residents are low.  They spend money on redecorating the executive offices while some of the areas where the residents live are shabby.  
The most enjoyable part of the job is working with the residents.

I think that Sholom is a good company for residents to come to live or stay for transitional care but i think it is very hard for employees to advance in their careers. I think that the management within the organization treat their employees like garbage. employees being treated the way they are don't want to do their jobs, and that makes everyone else's jobs more difficult. I think that with a good management team the company can change to be a good place to work and a great working environment.

I worked at Sholom as a Social worker. Great benefits- they offer tuition reimbursement. The team cares about you and cares about the residents. I laugh with my coworkers a lot and feel that I am in an environment where I can thrive professionally. My coworkers are very experienced and offer amazing care. I would recommend this job to anyone who wants to do meaningful work with a great team and awesome residents :) 

I'm sure its a very different experience for people in different departments, but in my experience the department I'm in is extremely disorganized and there is very little communication. I think it's kinda the same problems as most places and it's just a matter of whether the people you're working with make your job tolerable or not. I enjoy my interactions with the residents. I think there are some really caring people who work here, but I have no faith in the administration. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The residents are the only part that made me stay, but even then they were so poorly taken care of and you could tell it took a while for it to get that way. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They are so disorganized, especially with scheduling. I do not recommend going on call, for some reason they forget that on call employees are also people with lives just like our part/full time counterparts.

I felt compelled to review after reading some of the older reviews about Management. Sholom has a GREAT management team, and the Administrator is awesome! The team works together collaboratively and the environment is very supportive. Sholom has worked hard to improve work place culture and it is a fun place to work. It's a hard job, but extremely rewarding. I have grown in my skillset and confidence working at Sholom, and I am very grateful for our team.
