Signature Health pays GREAT compared to other places in the area. It’s nice to make a good salary and have good benefits. But the orientation is very long and drawn out. There are a lot of things here that don’t make sense. They could easily solve issues, but seem to want to do things a certain way. New counselors are requires to work 5 days in office and everyone has to share their office. Good luck because even if that person is only in their office one day a week, you’re in “their” office. Your name isn’t on the door, there’s no room for you to have your own stuff, and you often have to switch which office you’re sharing depending on the day. Supervisors don’t care because they have their own offices. You only vaguely get a say in your preferred population, so be prepared to take on a lot of different clients that you’re not comfortable with. There’s nothing in the break room for employees. There’s some coffee machines, fridges, and a microwave. Everything else has to be brought in by employees. Supervision isn’t always very helpful and often you need more than what you get. More time, more guidance, more support. At the beginning, there’s so much free time because they “slowly” build your caseload. I get it, but the build up is painfully slow and you have a whole lot of time to do nothing. They cater a lot to the clients, but don’t put much effort into their employees. Originally, they wanted counselors to fit 45 sessions into a week while maintaining a 40 hour work week. You do the math. Also, there is basically no penalty for clients not showing up or cancelling appointments, so they do it constantly. The company is trying to eliminate barriers to care for the clients, but it ends up creating barriers because clients who chronically do not show up end up taking time and energy away from clients waiting on the waitlist who want help and will show up for services. Employees definitely get burnt out. You’ll be pushed into stuff you don’t want to do. Clients you are uncomfortable with, groups you don’t have the knowledge or experience to run, etc. There’s a huge waitlist for case management as well, so you’ll end up becoming a case manager for your clients or just watch them slowly suffer. The company goes over the top for the clients, which is great, but lets their employees suffer. You’re expected to basically work 8 hours with no break. If you want a lunch break, you have to plan it out and put it in your schedule and you’ll have to work an extra hour. What kind of place doesn’t give you a lunch break? Co-workers are a hit or miss. Some locations have employees that get along while others are a bit of a mess. Company doesn’t do much in terms of creating a culture or encouraging employees to interact beyond the initial orientation. Company wants to get more clients in and off the waitlist, but the solution is NOT burning out the current employees and hiring new ones that there is no room for. They’re missing easier and healthier solutions.

I currently work at SH and it has been by far one of my favorite places I've worked. Work/Life balance is a bit difficult in this field in general and boundaries must be set. There is great room for advancement, which in turn helps with job security but it can lower the work/life balance because expectations seem to be much greater during off hours. Compensation is not the best for our field but it is a non-profit which is expected. Benefits are not too bad, I've heard other employees complaining but I appreciate being insured as I was not for many many years. Could benefits be better? Of course, we could mirror the Clinic, but then again we aren't one of the largest hospitals in NE OH. I believe management attempts to be as supportive as they can with their own job requirements and limitations set on them. Better communication between management and lower level staff would help run a smoother operation. Also more action towards the issues communicated would help with this too. The job culture seems to be different in every department at times. I do not believe there is enough time to get to know other staff due to the drive for productivity. I believe this plays a role in forming different work cultures in one environment, as well as breaks cohesiveness, workflow between departments and it makes it feel as if we do not promote self care within our work environment. I've passed a few individuals who I tend to question internally and repeatedly ask myself why they are in the field due to their behaviors but then I wonder if it could be due to our inability to set some self care time aside at work or time to communicate with our co-workers to promote positive and kind attitudes in the workforce. On the positive, those experiences are not as often and I encounter more positive individuals during my workday, which is uplifting in such an environment.

This place is taking away many things they advertised as benefits because of the poor financial choices they have made recently. Want tuition reimbursement? Nope, gone along with other benefits. It is now about slamming your schedule and all about productivity. But for some reason, they don’t want to get rid of positions that do nothing or if you are someone they don’t like, they team up against you to drive you out. I have seen this on a few sweet and innocent people and it’s sad. Drama runs the halls here and it is hard to avoid. What you say in private to a manager gets spread around to everyone. But really in the end of the day, what is the most disheartening is management. There are a few upper management folks who have to get involved in everything and they don’t value the employee or are willing to work with them. You have clear policies and they disregard what it says and you hear about others who get different answers. There is a policy for a reason and it needs to be followed. Management should not have the power to say what they want or have to make decisions so complicated by getting upper management involved. 

Great place to work! Supportive management, albeit very top-down in my area. Average to less than average medical coverage. No tuition benefits. As a federally qualified health center, student loans are eligible for repayment, which is amazing. Primary Care services at my site has committed, talented counselors providers and nurses.  Close knit, supportive, we try to keep cattiness to a minimum. I love the shared, seasoned & responsible work ethic our team has.  Signature Health provides comprehensive healthcare for mental health, addictions, infectious disease, primary care and womens health for patients & families who are insured through Medicare, Medicaid,  uninsured or undocumented. We are a well- funded and expanding agency. Turnover and burnout is a problem. The people we serve - many come from difficult circumstances and struggle to stay afloat. This is psychically & physically draining without consistent attention to your own self- care.  However, if you are passionate about equitable healthcare, leveling the playing field, and raising the overall health and wellness of underserved communities , I think it's worthwhile to take a serious look at our agency. 

Management does not value employees. The revenue cycle department is very much like high-school. You're "valued" as long as you don't speak up for yourself, but the moment you do you instantly feel the target on your back. Manager has had multiple complaints to HR since the beginning of employment but nothing has been done, instead almost all of the employees who made a complaint are no longer employed. If you don't understand something and reach out for answers, you either get ignored or talked down to but if you don't ask and make a mistake, you're immediately reprimanded. The culture in the office used to be great, but as of the past year and a half, there is no culture. Manager also discourages helping co-workers and reaching out to co-workers for help. It seems as if the people who made the revenue cycle department a real team where you felt valued are gone and the people there now couldn't care less. It is a shame to work for a company geared towards mental health but feel as if the mental health of employees doesn't matter at all

Working in the mental health field is very challenging. This job was a great way to gain good experience working with clients dealing with mental health/ co-depency related matters. Always had training opportunities to advance skills and stay up to date. Has opportunities for people to take on internships and practice for graduate degree programs. Very fullfilling to help your clients in so many ways. However.... Most upper management were blindsided to our (case managers) struggles and could care less. We were very overworked and case loads were pretty large and/or intense. Was expected to do so much more than we were afford to do. Favoritism was showed a lot. This was really devastating when the pandemic first hit. We were working more than anyone and was not appropriately appreciated for it. There also needs to be a very thin line between serving people in need and being a taxi service. Pay should be much better as well (for all case managers nationwide). Overall, I ended up being drained and changed my career choice all together.

It was a great company to work for in the beginning at that time is was  all about the patients now its all about the money. It at times feels like the blind leading the blind managers in charge of departments who have no experience in the healthcare field. Running the same test on patients 2 times in the same day then billing for both of the test. No lunch breaks. The running joke throughout the company is friends don't let friends work here. The company had a massive hire last year right before covid the very next week let all the new employees go. Company received all kinds of money to bring back employees from the state and government but never did. If you work for this company and you die tomorrow they will have your job posted that same day. Do your self a favor and stay away from here

I have never encountered a company that fosters such division among its employees, undermining teamwork and collaboration. It appears that only a “select” group in upper management is valued, while the integrity of leadership is questionable. Employees are often treated as if they are controlled by a few individuals at the top, leading to a lack of communication and engagement within the rest of the management structure, or any employee to be honest. This has created an unusual work environment, to say the least. Actually never saw anything like it in all of my professional years of working. I am relieved to have moved on. I am genuinely concerned about the implications of such practices on the mental health communities we serve.

This has been an excellent work environment. The CEO was 18 when he began this community counseling center and he is unique in his passion and compassion for the clients we serve. He is always working toward improving services for those we serve. His awareness of the needs of those of us who directly serve the consumers has been outstanding.

The most difficult part of the job for some can be balancing administrative/documentation and clinical skills.

The pro is I got to pick what hours I was scheduled to work. Another pro is I worked 5 hours a day 7 days a week. I got to pick my client which was my uncle. Con is the hourly pay wasn't enough. Another con is they didn't have direct deposit had to pick my check up.
