I was hired for a casual RN position. I was told that they would keep my patients close to my home location. They also said casual meant that I picked up the shifts I was available for. There was no minimum shift requirement. I was transparent about the fact that I had other obligations and although I started by picking up 30 hours per week this would change in the future. I started working here and was then told that casual staff are expected to drive everywhere, and I was given cases 60-90 minutes from my home. I reminded them that this was not what we agreed to. Leadership overall is very disorganized and nonexistent. There has been high turnover since I started. The manager is always in meetings. It is difficult to get the training you need here. I have been sent out to home situations that were unsafe or inappropriate for home care. Some are repeat clients for which they should have known better and/or warned me. I started to notice I would make myself available for shifts and they had no cases for me. They either didn’t tell me at all or I found out at the last minute. I just recently tried to pick up shifts, gave them a week’s notice of my availability and no cases. I was told they would not know until the afternoon before if they had cases for me. The last straw for me was when they demanded I commit to 8 shifts per month minimum or I could not stay with the company. I reminded them that they told me casual meant picking up the shifts I was available for, no minimum amount required, when they hired me. They said unless I was willing to do this I could not work for them anymore. They said the monthly cost of maintaining the tablet was not cost effective for keeping me on staff and that the company needs had changed so that casual staff have to work at least 8 shifts per month. These are 10 hour shifts. 6 points per day. I tried speaking to the administrator who hired me and made these agreements with me. She supported the manager. I ended up resigning. This is how they treat an experienced RN who is taking care of their patients during a pandemic. For a small coastal town that is always short healthcare professionals, it doesn’t seem like a smart business move. 

If you enjoy working on your own, receiving less pay, setting your own structure, maneuvering tedious redundancies throughout your work day, and you're VERY good at setting professional boundaries, then you'll thrive here.  It seems strange to say that loneliness is a thing here, considering the number of colleagues one communicates with regularly. That's because redundant communication is a requirement, but still often ignored. If you suggest improvements that require actual effort, you will not see any meaningful result. But if you don't mind the clutter and are able to just go with the flow, you'll do fine here. This place has some very nice people who want to do good things but are very limited by the lack of organization and terrible softwares. For now the agency's business strategy seems to be bluntly cranking up census without giving staff more tools, time, or assistance. Management consist of nice people with little to no training in actually managing people or work. Do not expect management to understand what an efficient workflow looks like and do not expect them to facilitate it. You do have the freedom to do what you want with the work they give you. They pretty much trust you, so there's no need for accountability.

Nurse Case Manager's are shown little respect.  Intake has no regard for nursing schedule and will place a Start of Care on nurses schedule at 3:45 PM for the very next day.  If nursing attempts to refuse a SOC management will assist Skilled Nursing in rearranging next days schedule so that the SOC can be completed at whatever cost.  This directly effects nursing care of patient, as supervisory visits will be asked to be pushed off, patient follow up with MD or family will be pushed off.  It makes it extremely difficult to show patients respect for their time when nursing schedules for the next day are not allowed to be considered set until after 4PM. Management is very kind and nice, however there is a disconnect between expectation and what the work actually entails. Management does not treat all staff the same, which makes it difficult when expectations are different even in the same position.  The team(RN, LPN, PT, OT, ST, MSS and HHA) is the best I have every worked with, and know that they care for their patients in a manner that is of highest possible quality.  In regards to nursing though, the RN turnover speaks for itself. Management will give several reasons for why there is RN turnover, however with the amount of turnover there is I have a hard time believeing this has gone unnoticed by Adminitration. There is something wrong and if it had been fixed, I would have never left.  The team was truly the best I have ever worked with.

This company has a relaxed, family like environment.  If they are not celebrating a holiday with a potluck lunch they are throwing a baby shower for staff or planning for the next Holiday party or summer bbq.  The support offered to all staff, office and clinical is beyond anywhere I have ever worked.  The majority of the clinical staff have been with the company for 3-4 + years and many verbalized they plan to stay until retirement and call this their "second home."  This company has a 4/5 star quality rating and has remained at 4 stars for over 3 years, a huge accomplishment that reflects directly from our patient health outcomes and satisfaction surveys!  The benefits are competitive with other agencies in the valley and they also offer annual tuition reimbursement for staff that want to further their education. The management works hard to allot everyone PTO and ensure their is adequate back up to prevent staff from feeling overwhelmed and burn out.  The leaders here strive to set high standards of care and integrate the latest best practice measures to promote optimal quality of care.  I recommended this agency to provide care for my friends and loved ones and would highly recommend them to anyone in our community.

I love working for Signature Healthcare. I work in the Federal Way Branch and the managers are fantastic. They are a smart, hard working bunch of women who are supportive and available whenever needed. I appreciate that they are hands off in the day to day, trusting my clinical judgements and my ability to perform my daily tasks without micromanagement. Corporate has a similar attitude: supportive when needed, hands-off otherwise making it's easy to forget that it's a big company. I am never asked to do anything unethical and my clinical opinions aren't questioned. 

My colleagues are great. Everyone is supportive and collegial.  Everyone enjoys helping their patients and providing functional in-home therapeutic and nursing care. 

The company is great with communication, with team meetings twice a week and staff meetings bimonthly. They also host regular activities to build camaraderie. 

It's a great company. I can see myself happy here for a long time.

Signature Home Health of Portland is an excellent place to work.  I spent a short time employed with this company but due to unfortunate circumstances had to move from the area otherwise would have retired there.  Management was experienced, understanding and encouraging.  The majority of the employees were friendly, helpful and experienced.  Expect to work hard but feel valued while providing care within a variety of arenas including, in-home, assisted living and nursing homes.  The most difficult part of this job is managing the work/home life balance (I have 4 kids at home) and documentation, it is tedious and abundant.  The best part of this job was the benefits/pay and the people I worked with, I didn't meet one I didn't like and who wasn't friendly and encouraging with a listening ear whenever it was warranted.  I highly recommend this company... especially if you are single ;) .

Poor management and poor compliance. This office in particular has a dictatorship manager, no training, and is completely legally out of compliance. They provide NO training or resources. For example, they advertise wound certified nursing care yet do not have a wound certified nurse on staff. They get “policies” off the internet, as they don’t actually have any. Very unprofessional staff who take home patient records, take 2 weeks to follow up with new referrals, lie (business office manager there has ZERO experience in home health and lies to give answers instead of seeking information). Lots of bullying has caused high turnover. Low staff means unsafe patient loads (case loads of 35+ for RN case managers consistently).

If you are a nurse and not working for Signature Home Care (Tigard/Salem, OR), then you are not in the right place. I have been a nurse in home care for over 17 years in multiple states and this was the best place I've worked for. Management was supportive, care team amazing in their support of each other and in their communication. They strove to give the best work-life balance possible, knowing that with good balance, excellent care can be provided. On those stressful days (let's admit they can't all be avoided) I knew I could reach out to my co-workers, managers or office team for support. We were able to truly work as a team for the best care possible. If it wasn't for having to return home (Michigan) to care for my mother, I would have stayed. 

Signature Home Care in Eugene, OR was a great employer! Before coming to work for them I had worked in a residential care facility and a different in-home care agency, but at Signature I received such great training. It was very informative and in-depth. The nurses and office staff were always so pleasant and I enjoyed working with them. They didn't just treat us like little worker bees, they cared about us as people too.

One of the best things about Signature is that there was always work available, which wasn't the case with the agency I had previously worked for, which hired too many caregivers and didn't have enough clients, so with them I often went months without any work. But that was never a problem with Signature. There was always work available. 

I'd definitely recommend this agency to anyone who wants to work as an in-home caregiver.

I'd give this job no stars if possible.

*They lie in the interview about what the job expectations really are. Don't let them fool you! You really have no idea what you're getting into with this joke of a company!
*Severe lack of training for anyone. They don't bother to train you. They just throw you out there. You better sink or float.
*Ineffective management bent on micro-managing to the point of over-working and over-burdening office staff and clinicians. They don't care about you. They care about themselves and how much work you can do for them.
*Staff demoralized and disrespected. They can't keep the good ones to save their lives.
*Management unappreciative of any staff and their hard work
*It's always about the numbers and the dollar signs, never about the patients or the staff.
