I asked to be trained many times while I was at the SNF unit. I had never worked at a hospital before. Mostly with trach patients because I had never had one before. They would train me on ordinary days when my patient load didn't have a trach patient. And I also struggled with admissions.  Every time I was trained by someone. It was when I didnt have the admissions or trachs.  There was also a nurse manager who would give the easier new admits to nurses that were the same color as her. She never once asked if I needed help when she saw me staying over 2 and 3 hours after an admission. I was struggling with. No one showed me how to sign up for my shifts on the computer. So when I missed the deadline for the next month's work. I didn't get to work for a week. But that was my fault too. Even though no one showed me. I ran the whole 12 hours I was there. And yet other nurses and techs would be on their phone and walking around off the unit. Yet I wasn't a team player. I was wrote up after i had been there 6 weeks because i missed a day related to my son being in a car wreck and almost dying. He was airlifted from this hospital. And my bosses knew about this. But because i was in my first 90 days of employment  there was no consideration for that. Ive never thought reverse discrimination was a thing. But I stand corrected. One nurse manager made it very obvious to everyone tgat worked on that unit. That she favored people of her race over anyone else. I loved my patients and most of my fellow nurses. All I asked for was to be trained on the things I struggled with. Not be trained on the things I already knew. 

SRHS is about the patients. It's all about doing the best work and the best job we can do to take good care of the patients and guests. That being said, there is more celebration of management than the actual office staff.  Keeping in mind the volume of staff, it would be difficult to pinpoint single employees, there used to be a more focused effort on individuals. Also keeping in mind, SRHS is still recovering from previous mismanagement by previous Administration, the new Administration is doing the hard work of restoring the reputation of SRHS. SRHS brings the absolute best care to the patient. They make the most fervent effort to see that the visitors and family are accommodated while the patients are being cared for. I think that once the reputation of the actual quality of employment is more solid in the community again, there might be more of a relaxed atmosphere.

As a new nurse at Singing River Hospital's Behavioral Health Unit, I was immensely grateful for the supportive and welcoming environment I encountered. From my first day, the team's dedication to compassionate care was clearly evident. The interdisciplinary approach ensured each patient received holistic and individualized treatment, which was both inspiring and educational for me. The unit was well-equipped with resources that aided in providing top-notch care, and the emphasis on continuous learning and professional development was truly empowering. My colleagues were not just skilled healthcare professionals but also kind-hearted individuals who genuinely cared about the well-being of our patients and each other. Management was approachable and valued our input, fostering a culture of respect and teamwork. This positive atmosphere motivated me to give my best every day and made me proud to be part of such an exemplary team dedicated to improving mental health outcomes.

I loved working at Singing River in Pascagoula. However, Singing River Gulfport is not on the same page as the other SR facilities. Gulfport has not been a part of the system very long but long enough to be doing better at following policies and hiring competent management. 
Administration at Gulfport is a joke. They coddle and befriend nurse managers, who are complained about the most and are easily manipulated. It is telling when you walk into a nurse manager’s office, and one of the facility leaders is lying on the love seat with her feet propped up. The same two ganged up on a well-liked nurse -in a management position- forcing them to resign. When the leadership in the facility cannot be fair and neutral because they are friends with an incompetent nurse manager, one knows it is time to leave.


While the job itself and most general management isn't bad and I actually enjoyed working with all my peers. However, the mean girls club on dayshift and my particular PCC and PCM will single out those that others in the mean girls club dislike and go out of their way to drive you out. You're worthless to them and replaceable. If you're on nightshift just consider yourself a target and your days numbered cause "nightshift is lazy and doesn't do anything" Meanwhile I'm struggling to get all my charting done while dayshift nurses sit in the managers office talking it up and enjoying life. It's sad and I hope it changes soon so nurses won't be scared to work med surg and they get good learning opportunities.

The compensation and working with the patients and medical staff.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Management that should not have been the superviser who had no knowledge of regulations associated with nutritional needs and policies of DNV.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
toxic due to the dietary superviser who played favorites.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy and constantly making substitutions for lack of products to provide healing support since the person was always off and no one ordered these products in her absence, which should have been the dietary manager.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Getting to interact with the patients on a daily basis.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
When you don't have your management team supporting you on a daily basis.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Excellent work environment except when you need management to step in and they were never available. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Spent time with patients, interacting with patients and staff. Never time for a break because understaffed. Otherwise, patients were the reasons you wanted to go to work every day.

My time at OSH has been one of learning and growth. I really enjoy the unity among the staff members, and everyone is always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Work/life balance is easier to maintain than a regular 9-5, but the night shift can be difficult for those who aren’t used to it. The nights are usually very busy, with little downtime, and some patients can be difficult at times. However, the work we all do is rewarding and important to those we serve, and knowing that makes the tough days more bearable. The hustle and bustle of it all makes the time fly, which always beats boredom. I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking to make a difference in the live’s of others.

I’ve had great management and bad management at SRHS. Most recently, the team has given great support. My manager is very understanding of the events life can throw at you. Unfortunately, there is workplace drama, but that is something that occurs everywhere. We get scheduled time off for lunch (we didn’t at my old position on the med-surg floor). I believe I learned strength and confidence working for SRHS.

The job itself . Very busy fast pace. And some people you meet are awesome. It's about the patients and to make sure that they are satisfied.

When you have limited time to get the job done.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's a great place but working in evs it's very poor management. Very rude and disrespectful towards employees

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy and fast Paced. Trying ensure the best quality as possible.
