I began this position 3 weeks after being hired so there should not have been any issue with login information, security access, or training. I had 1 actual day of training and the next day my lead called in, so I was thrown onto the floor. Its a good thing I'm an incredibly fast learner or I would not have made it!  In one of the 3 different locations I was supposed to be flexible to working, I was not even given a door code to get into the building (I was left standing outside for 30 minutes in the dead of winter until another employee arrived to work and went in, letting me in the door) or a door code for the med room or the lab room. When I stopped working there, I still did not have any of these things! Some of the other CMA's, Nurse's and providers were wonderful people but the management and assistance with my job were terrible. I had personal emergencies with my children and provided documentation justifying the reasoning behind my need for absence and was still let go, even though numerous times other MA's just did not show up for work at all or called in on a regular basis. I was not upset about this because I was going to put in my 2 weeks anyway due to all the inconsistencies and the lack of compassion for others the management had.  There have been numerous complaints against the company itself to the union (I have spoke to the union representatives) as well as complaints against the management that runs the area. There are terrible office politics, the pay is not up to standard with other companies and people are often misused if they are kind hearted and will do the work others don't want to. Management rarely responded to me or would respond with answers that had nothing to do with what I actually requested answers to. I have no idea how urgent care still functions. 

**Review for Skagit Regional Clinic: ★☆☆☆☆**
I feel compelled to share my experience regarding the mismanagement at Skagit Regional Clinic. The way their facilities are run at the executive level is nothing short of disastrous. It is evident that doctors and medical professionals are placed in an impossible position: they are forced to choose between facing complaints for being late to appointments and rushing through patient examinations just to stay on schedule. This alarming practice not only undermines the quality of patient care but also puts undue stress on the medical staff.
The expectation of providing 15 hours of quality care in less than 10 hours is unrealistic, and it is only a matter of time before this pressure results in significant errors in patient care. I strongly caution anyone considering working at or receiving care from this clinic to think long and hard before making that decision. The system is fundamentally flawed, and the consequences for patients could be severe.

I really enjoyed the doctors and fellow medical assistant,  nurses, front office staff and everyone I worked with. Unfortunately the managers are spread thin and manage multiple clinics which leave certain clinics to fend for themselves. The clinic I worked for very rarely saw our manager and when we would reach out, it would take several days to get a response on an issue or not a response at all. Meanwhile, those things were waiting to hear back on are effecting patient care. I did leave due to the lack of support from management,  and when I put in my notice the attitude of manager changed drastically for some reason. I won't get into details, but I did not have prior issues other than lack of support and then suddenly was getting attitude when there was never really much communication prior. It felt like they were trying to get me to leave earlier than my 2 weeks in order to get out of paying out my time off I had built up. Proceed with caution on this place.

Working with friendly co—workers and good support across different disciplines. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Having to deal with the mandates of a tyrannical
Government that makes decisions about an individual’s healthcare with no sound science to back up their decisions and a management team that goes along with the charade for the purposes of making money rather than what is best for patients or employees. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Friendly and supportive across multiple disciplines. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
After parking a long way from the entrance, you are checked for cooties at the door. I would then go to my desk, pull up my schedule of patients and start clinic. Have lunch at noon and back to clinic by 12:30-12:45 and start the afternoon shift, usually ending by 4:30-5:00.

The pandemic has done a number on this organization's culture. If you look up the definition of toxic environment, you may just find Skagit Regional Health. Leadership did not cause this environment, but they do not seem interested in resolving it. 
The toxic stress has a trickle-down effect. Executives are condescending and rude toward their directors, who carry that behavior forward. To improve this culture, Executives must hold each other accountable for their interpersonal communication. in summary, most leaders treat each other like theyve killed each other's family pets. 
Directors leave and their duties are assigned to lower employees. When a promotion does occur, it's usually given to a person who prefers their work-life balance to lie heavily on the work side of the spectrum. This creates unrealistic expectations of the staff in general.  

Pay: we make less than all the other MAs in washington state. 

Management: all managers are spread thin, non clinical and run at least 4 departments. 

Intimidated out: I fought with a coworker who was also fighting with the RN, provider of my clinic and my manager said she was personally looking out for her. After weeks of fighting, I finally put my two weeks notice in. My manager retaliated by putting me on administrative leave. HR NEVER GOT BACK TO ME. This manager runs most of the clinics at Skagit and nothing has happened to her. 

This company will not protect you in any way, will underpay you so the CEO can make one million dollars while they cut providers pay. I know of a provider personally getting ready to leave due to bad behavior pratices. Do NOT come to Skagit Regional Clinics. 

I knew it was too good to be true when I accepted a job where the supervisor promised to train me. Unfortunately, I was let down because there is no work-life balance, way too much politics, a lot of microagressions, and I was micromanaged every single day.

I regret accepting the job offer, and should have waited till a better opportunity came along. My supervisor threatened me, made discriminating comments, and yelled at me in front of other members on my team. I can't wait to find a better job where I am treated with respect and where leadership actually cares about their employees instead of treat them like useless and disposable objects.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The trauma that you and your peers go through. You’ll for sure bond over chaotic  mess that administration and leadership put you through.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
You constantly feel like leadership is working against you. You make suggestions about changes that can help or improve the flow of clinic. Let’s just say it goes in one ear and out the other 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Your co worker will support you is best way that can. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Depending your day. Leadership will put you above your limit when you are short staff and won’t send or support. When you ask for more staff ,they inform you there is no budget.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Pay, benefits, retirement plan.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
SEVERLY micromanaged.  I can't tell you how many extremely talented people left because of this.  Superior employees beyond reproach.  There is ZERO benefit from performing well.  If you're a minute and I mean one minute late...it goes on record and you are disciplined.

stressful and even if you perform excellently you are not acknowledged

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Love my patients and my work.  Management makes it almost unbearable in all departments across the board.

A typical day here provides many challenges that are met in a supportive working environment. My direct leadership is top notch and addresses concerns in a timely considerate fashion. I spent my internship here which rolled into a FTE with great benefits, including a generous retirement plan and flexibility in my schedule. The workplace culture is challenging but fun and supportive. The hardest part of the job is seeing unavoidable adverse patient outcomes however the stellar work environment far outweighs this. I would highly recommend working here if you are looking for a great community of people to spend your working hours with.
