If you are somebody who is looking for annual raises, performance reviews, excellent benefits, a retirement plan where the company matches, decent or any paid time off/holiday pay, a supportive management team, proper training, etc... well this company is NOT for you!  You must be the supplemental income in your household in order to survive working here.

This company’s mission is incredibly admirable, and many of their employees still live by their core mission.  You get to help underprivileged children receive the dental care they need.  How awesome is that?  However, corporate greed and maximizing their profits has taken over this organization over the past few years.  It is all about production and quantity over quality.  

The corporate office needs to realize that their field team members and the peons in the office are the foundation of this company.  Too many chiefs and not enough Indians will make this company collapse.  

One star for this company, because I gained some valuable friendships from working here.

The mission is very nice,  in serving those children in need but if you want to know IF and WHERE you are working from one day to the next or even for an entire  week it WILL NOT HAPPEN.
Poor communication and organization from mgmt. understandably because it is primarily Medicaid based. 
Before you leave something consistent please consider the amt of days you must work to meet your personal/family needs as with this company there IS NO guarantee consistent work assignments (especially if you are the low seniority) . If you are not dependent on your income or looking to volunteer , its a great "feel good" job. Otherwise, not. And yes, they do and will "sell" you a line and once youre all snuggled in …they kept sayin it would change, got a new CEO etc...it just got old and frustrating.

I originally got hired into the company for a position I was really excited about.  After three weeks I was told it wasn't a good fit and I could leave the company that day, or go to another department.  I liked the mission of the company and I did not have another job so I decided to stay.  I lost one dollar in pay, my hours changed, but I got a good manager.  However, the manager got let go three months later and the new management was not qualified for the position and the job just was not the same.   I was really stressed out and disappointed at the same time.  Like I said, the mission of the company is great, but I just wanted to look for something else.

Diverse workplace, often I arrive around 7am. Typically, I'll greet colleagues upon my arrival, eat breakfast and began working. Between 8am-3pm, some days are busy, some are quiet, most are somewhere inbetween. Hardest part of the job was having to search for information that you weren't sure where or calling a different department and trying to find it. The most enjoyable was seeing how many kids who's insurance you've billed and how you were able to help them! So many kids need dental services and we get to help them! Has the opportunity to be a thriving corporation in the coming future!

DENTAL ASSISTANTS BEWARE!!! Smile Programs hired me full time.  Very few weeks did I ever work even 30 hours a week.  And have been several weeks working less than 15 hours a week.  Not a job for anyone that lives on a budget, or depends on their paycheck to make ends meet.  They only tell you that you will not work when the children are not in school (Christmas break, summer break, etc.)  They don't bother to tell you when hired that you will only actually work close to full-time hours for a few months.  And, at the same time, they continually advertise for hiring new assistants when they can't even keep the ones hired working!

They (mgmt) tries to make you feel comfortable and pressured at the same time. It is a real simple concept on what they so a degree is not really needed. Most co-workers were nice some not so much. The hardest part of the job was dealing with upper managment. They say it's about the kids and it's not. It's about seeing as many Medicaid kids so they can get more money and increase profits. Most enjoyable was making a friend from there.

This was a great experience for me.  I learned so much about working with kids and I can do sealants with my eyes closed now!!  The women I worked with were all focused on getting the job done in every aspect; making sure the kids got the best treatment, and doing it with efficiency!  Quick pace environment, everyone lends a helping hand, not for the lazy or uncooperative.  This job takes a team player who’s goal in mind is to get the job done.  

Lack of communication from management. Not truthful on hours. Everything is emails. Send an email 5pm or later to tell you if you work the next day and where . The months of January through March are slow so that really means little if any work . April and October and November to the holiday break are supposed to be the busy time.Who can support a family on that? The idea of the program is good but needs to be managed better.

This is a rewarding and fast paced job providing preventative and restorative care to underserved children in and around our community. Feel good about the quality work you provide to children with little to no access to care. Do you enjoy working with children? Do you enjoy new work environments and working with different people everyday? This may be the job for you. Help children have the best possible dental experiences!

Poor management from the corporate level to the team leads. 

Managers hire their friends and family and those of the employees for positions that they are under qualified for. They disregard the current long term employees that actually have college degrees and experience.
