My supervising attorney has been incredibly supportive as has the managing partner and even the owner himself! All of the supervising attorneys are honest, kind and hard working, I cannot speak highly enough about them. Theres so many resources at your disposal to consult with the motions team, estates, real estate, workers compensation, disability, med mal, toxic torts, and of course personal injury in many states now!  Having so many team members is a great asset. 

Also, there is an abundance of clients because the firm is rightly getting past clients referring their friends and family, which to me emphasized job security! 

There are so many options at Sobo & Sobo to sustain your career long term as your interests change over time, which is another benefit. 

The first year there is a steep and challenging learning curve, it was for me since I came from defense side and I also learned a new states civil procedure. But have the perspective that there are normal bumps in the road that come with any learning curve. 

Perspective is everything and if you come in knowing we are dealing with clients going through a hardship, they are physically, emotionally and financially drained, it will help you realize we are doing important work, necessary work and we are there to help them as much as we can. Do your best and you will see the results! 

I am so grateful that the firm not only gave me this opportunity to learn something new but that they really supported me in my first year back to work. I had taken 2.5 years off to have kids and returning to work my youngest was only 6 months old. My first year there were so many personal challenges I had and everyone at the firm was very supportive and helped me to overcome this difficult time so that I could do what I love, being an attorney!

I just want to add that at firm events I have met staff including receptionists who have told me the same thing, that the firm worked with them to make it possible for them to navigate early years of motherhood and still work with the firm to help their family financially. 

You really feel like family here if that is what you are looking for! 

My experience working at Sobo & Sobo was deeply disappointing and unsustainable. The firm prioritizes revenue above employee well-being to an extreme degree. In my role, I was responsible for managing over 100 active cases with little to no attorney oversight, which created constant stress and serious concerns about workload support.

The firm aggressively expands by opening new offices, yet struggles to adequately support the staff already in place. Resources are stretched thin, compensation is cut, and expectations continue to rise without corresponding support.

The workplace culture tolerates toxic behavior as long as an employee is perceived to be profitable. Professionalism, accountability, and basic HR standards felt inconsistent at best. Employees who raised concerns were often ignored, while poor behavior was excused if revenue was involved.

Leadership frequently promotes a “help-first” mindset, but in practice, employees are thrown into overwhelming situations with little guidance and expected to figure it out alone.

I would not recommend this firm to anyone who values mentorship, ethical leadership, or a healthy work environment.

A typical day is fast-paced and involves managing multiple cases at different stages. This includes reviewing records, drafting documents, communicating with clients, and coordinating with team members. The variety keeps the work engaging and requires staying organized and adaptable throughout the day.

What I Have Learned:
I have strengthened my time management and organizational skills, along with my ability to handle a high volume of work efficiently. I’ve also improved my communication with clients and colleagues and developed greater confidence in navigating a deadline-driven environment.

Management:
Management is accessible and provides guidance when needed. Expectations are clearly communicated, which helps in staying aligned and focused on priorities.

Workplace Culture:
The workplace is collaborative, and team members are supportive of one another. There is a strong sense of teamwork, especially when working through challenges or time-sensitive matters.

The Hardest Part of the Job:
Balancing multiple priorities can be challenging at times, but it also encourages strong organization and problem-solving skills.

The Most Enjoyable Part of the Job:
The most rewarding aspect is achieving positive outcomes for clients and seeing cases through to resolution. Working alongside a supportive team also makes the experience more enjoyable.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best thing about working here is the people. Many of the attorneys and staff are hardworking, supportive, and genuinely good people . Unfortunately, the work environment makes it very difficult for them to succeed and they are not appreciated by management.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Attorneys are routinely assigned extremely high caseloads, often consisting of several hundred active files at one time. Managing court appearances, depositions, discovery obligations, and client communication across that many cases creates constant pressure and an unsustainable workload. The pace and volume of work can make it challenging to give each file the level of attention complex litigation typically requires.

Staff are also stretched very thin, which means attorneys and paralegals are often doing the work of multiple people. The result is an environment where everyone is trying to keep up with an overwhelming volume of work.

Compensation also does not reflect the expectations placed on employees. Raises have not kept pace with the cost of living, and the bonus structure is not competitive compared to many other personal injury firms. At the same time, workloads continue to increase.

Because of these factors, turnover is very high. Many talented attorneys and staff leave because the expectations and workload are simply not sustainable long term.

A typical day in the marketing department at Sobo & Sobo is fast-paced and collaborative, with a mix of strategy, creative work, and problem-solving. Each day brings new projects and opportunities to improve campaigns and support the team.

I’ve learned a lot about digital marketing, client communication, and how to manage multiple priorities efficiently. It’s a great environment for building both technical and strategic skills.

Management is supportive and encourages growth, while also trusting the team to take ownership of their work. They’re open to ideas and feedback, which makes a big difference.

The workplace culture is positive, team-oriented, and driven. Everyone is willing to help each other, and there’s a shared focus on delivering strong results.

I am coming up on four years in September working at Sobo & Sobo, LLP and I highly recommend this law firm for all would be job seekers. I was hired right out of law school with very little personal injury experience and have been able to learn and grow into my role as an attorney. 

The workplace culture is team focused. Speaking from an attorney's perspective, everyday there are team mates willing and able to lend a hand or provide additional insight on cases. Each case also has a supervising attorney that provides an additional level of support on files. 

My days are heavily focused on client contact. One of the main principles of the firm is to build trust and relationships with the clients by initiating dialogue and the mindset that 'the client's case is my case.' I feel that this mindset helps our firm stand out from many of the other personal injury firms in the area.

I also find that the workweeks are evenly balanced with office and court time. My weeks typically combine in office days with days of court appearances, depositions or other  litigation type work.

I have worked at Sobo and Sobo for several years as an attorney.  I can honestly say that coming to Sobo and Sobo is the best thing that has ever happened to me professionally.  I have been taught how to properly handle, analyze and evaluate the cases that I am assigned.  The company leadership leaves little to be desired.  The owner is a personable and available to every employee of the firm.  He treats everyone at the firm with respect and looks to bring the best out of everybody around him, both professionally and personally.  This is largely true of the entire management.  My direct supervisor has a wealth of knowledge and is happy to share it with all people.  Any lawyer who has been successful at Sobo and Sobo should very employable within the field.  

The negative of the firm is that the workload is immense.  There is simply no way to complete the job in 9-5 hours or even 9-10 hours.  It always feels like you are behind and chasing deadlines.  

This job has been challenging from the start. I began in September and, unfortunately, have experienced miscommunication and unfulfilled promises since the interview process. I was assured that I would have the opportunity to work closer to home by November, yet as of April, my situation remains unchanged.

Additionally, the management team lacks the necessary leadership skills to effectively support and guide employees. There are no standardized operational procedures in place, leading to inconsistent expectations. Rather than proactively managing the team, leadership only takes action when pressured by upper management.

I have attempted to address my concerns through meetings, but each discussion has been met with excuses and empty promises.

I believe that with a stronger management team—or at the very least, a structured process for employees to provide feedback on leadership—the office would operate far more efficiently.

A typical day involves managing a high volume of tasks & prioritizing deadlines. I have learned to navigate complex situations efficiently and professionally.  Management is supportive and provides guidance when needed.  The workplace culture is fast-paced and results-driven.  The hardest part of my job is  managing situations where clients express frustration or direct their stress to staff.  This requires a high level of emotional intelligence, patience, and the ability to remain calm and solution-focused under pressure. The most enjoyable part is the sense of accomplishment that comes from successfully handling complex tasks and contributing to positive outcomes.
