Solutions Behavioral Healthcare Professionals

I’ve worked with Solutions for just under two years as a Behavioral Health Technician. The company itself really encourages personal growth, continued education, and “moving up rather than moving on”. There seems to be lots of opportunity to find the right fit for you within the company. Which is nice because it offers you the opportunity to change up jobs but still stay within the same company and under the same benefits. Great support from supervisors and the best team of people I’ve had the privilege to work with, which helps on the days that may be a little bit tougher, work wise. It’s the mental health/behavioral field. There’s going to be tough days. There’s going to be burnout.  On those days, I really relied on my team. I can say that 95% of the time, I felt that I had the support that I needed. The biggest downside that I can think of would be the PTO. I’ve understood it that what’s offered is pretty much average across the board. But, like I said, this is a high burnout field and putting up with behaviors on a daily basis, sometimes you just need a mental health day. Working six weeks to earn enough PTO for a full 8 hours off seems to be a bit excessive. Makes it hard to find a healthy work life balance, in my opinion, when you have to question if you can afford to use your PTO when you are feeling burnout out, or justify if you are “sick enough” to use your hard earned PTO that you’d maybe rather save for something fun. But, that’s a personal opinion and I know it is shared with many of my colleagues. Outside of that, the clients are great. You have to have a passion for the work you do in this field. If you’re in it for the money, best to look elsewhere. Not because the pay isn’t great—because it does pay well. But because it’s not for to the client, your team, or yourself. We are in the people business. We’re in this to serve people. If you have the mindset and the heart to help, and the fortitude to push through behaviors, I highly recommend you check this company out. 

Solutions is a company that I have worked at for multiple years, and there are many benefits from the company that I have not seen in other companies. Solutions will provide options for movement within the company, sometimes it is not vertical movement but lateral movement, which then opens up later to vertical movement. I know this because I started at the lowest rung of the company and have been able to work at many different positions in the company. I have also seen others work, move vertically and laterally within the company at many of our offices. 
Solutions attempts to be supportive and provide training to staff, while still maintaining a focus on the client. Solutions has a passion to attempt to help the client where they are at. This can cause some stress within the work place of finding the balance between the employees needs and the client's needs, but it is also a Non-profit mental health facility. The work at any non-profit mental health facility is going to inherently be taxing work because it is helping the under-served populations. 
Solutions runs into similar problems that any other company runs into, growth and the growing pains that come with it. Solutions will attempt to find a balance to manage the growth and do the most responsible thing to promote health in the company while attempting to stay mindful of the individual worker and their health. 
Solutions is an organization where you can find others to support you, challenge you, and overall if you are willing to change, become a better person while helping to make meaningful changes in peoples everyday lives. 
At the end of the day Solutions has some good and some bad, just like any other company but the good heavily outweighs the bad and I have been fortunate to be able to work in this organization.

I have been at Solutions for several years and have worked in two different locations. I started as a practicum student and very "green" still in school. Having Solutions accept me as a practicum student was the best career opportunity and over time I still find this to be true. I have always felt like those in positions above me have taken genuine interest in supporting my interests and goals and allowing me to integrate that into my work here. I have always been supported and been able to make connections with those I work with across offices. As a now licensed professional I have always felt supported but also respected as a professional, my co-workers and managers have allowed me independence yet the guidance I have needed without micro-managing. I also really have appreciated flexibility in my schedule and the opportunity to gain more PTO with years of service as a working parent. What I think has kept me at Solutions so many years is that I truly believe that the agency Executives do genuinely believe in the agency mission and have a wealth of clinical experience themselves. I would also say that their commitment to evidence-based intervention has also been a factor that has kept me here - our community needs more of that. Last, everyone is always interested in pay and I can genuinely say that pay at Solutions has always been competitive for me and seems to be the same for other motivated providers. 

Solutions can be a very challenging place to work. If you are not close friends with supervisors then good luck moving up in the company or feeling respected when you come to work each day. The managers of this company are very naive and do not support all employees equally. The managers could be described as rather immature, and play favorites with their friends who work below them as interventionists. 
When I worked with this company, there were many individuals who were afraid to fully speak their minds and share their ideas simply because they were not one of the "favorites" with the managers and supervisors and feared that their job would be in jeopardy for questioning the status quo. This is unfortunate because these thoughts could have brought about great changes and advancements in the company, but they will never be heard because of fear. 
However, if the individuals who were friends with the management would do and say inappropriate things in front of clients, who are young children in most cases, they were not disciplined. Instead, these immature workers were encouraged with laughs and praise from managers. This is disappointing to be part of in a work environment, and causes stress and tension. 
Overall, there were good and bad days at this company. The kids are incredible to work with, but this is overshadowed by the stressful environment created by immature adults. If you are looking for a professional work environment where everyone is treated equally and respected then I would strongly recommend looking somewhere else for employment.

Helping clients build their skill repertoire is the most rewarding aspect of the job, in addition to helping coworkers grow in their own skills as direct care staff. There are also opportunities to grow within the company,  but this seems contingent on advancing your education. Receiving direct feedback from sessions with clients in addition to monthly trainings helps staff grow as direct care staff in their skills. 
Training during the onboarding process is mediocre. New employees are scheduled to provide direct care with minimal training on how to perform the skills required to provide quality care and how to respond to escalated situations to keep themselves and clients safe. If you aren't a quick learner, the onboarding process will be difficult. 
Management isn't as experienced and educated in skills required to provide direct care, so staff lack support and understanding in that aspect from management.
Attendance policy seems more strict, but this could be due to the nature of the job of providing direct care. Because of the attendance policy, unplanned absences due to unexpected life situations (sick child, emergencies, sick days) may result in disciplinary action depending on the amount of occurrences.

I have been with Solutions for a while now and I have enjoyed most of my time here. Each day looks different depending on my schedule. I have a variety of clients and duties that I perform each day and no two days are the same. I appreciate the difference between all my clients and duties. I have had the opportunity to learn several new things while with Solutions. They provide internal trainings and required supervision which are helpful. My co-workers are all great to work with and has allowed me to see the differences in people. We have a wide variety of ages within my office which surprises me due to some of the work we do with physical aggression. The hardest part of my job are the aggressive behaviors that we deal with at any given time, but I truly feel supported when things arise as people work together to help each other out and those in positions that allow them to quickly help out typically do. My day starts anywhere between 7:45 and 9 and usually ends by 5:45 as our clinic is currently open until 5:30. I enjoy the support and feel like the supervisors put in effort to show their appreciation. I can feel the desire to grow staff into BCBA's but I am not sure that is the field I want to be in.

Employees are friendly, they have a professional building, there are guidelines for addressing most situations, and clients get good services. People stay at Solutions for a long time, it’s a nice place to work. This agency definitely has high performance standards, they give out a lot of formal and documented feedback.

They could do a better job with offering general and professional development trainings to their employees. In my opinion, performance expectations are not always realistic (high productivity goals, respond to emails within 24 hours, and so forth...)  Also, as a whole, the leadership team is average. They could benefit from bringing in external people for different perspectives and fresh ideas. 

If you’re looking for a stable and professional work environment, and are also okay with high performance standards, Solutions could be a good fit for you. If you're the type of employee that needs lots of support from your job or lack basic skills, you will likely find the work environment to be too challenging. 


I came to Solutions with the goal of growth in my clinical knowledge and experience. It wasn't long until my case load was full and I was seeing a variety of clients. At Solutions, I was given the opportunities to seek evidence based treatment trainings that fit my own professional goals. I also was able to flex my schedule to make it work for me and still feel capable about meeting company expectations. Day to day at times was hard, many of my co workers were just as busy as I was so it was hard to touch base and check in, but many of them sought me out. It's a great place for personal support. 
The hardest part of the job was the paperwork. If you don't have a system in place to keep you on track you can feel overwhelmed. But don't worry, there are great managers and supervisors there to help you. One of the things that would have been more helpful for balancing my work and home life would be if they contributed a dictation system. 

I have been employed as a mental health professional at Solutions for over the past 10 plus years. I have been given the opportunity to learn new evidenced based approaches to help the individuals and families I work with. I feel more confident as a professional because of all the training I have received. Solutions does a great job of trying to help employees find their specialty area(s) and then training them to grow in that area. I love how Solutions puts its clients and employees first. The outpatient team is supportive and encouraging. They are always willing to help others out. They hold themselves to high ethical standard. My co-workers are compassionate, thoughtful and kind. Solutions is truly here to help meet the unmet needs in the community and while doing this, supporting their employees.  I feel privileged to call Solutions my employer and have been thankful for the past decade of experience. 

Throughout my employment at Solutions I have had many opportunities to advance. I have been employed at Solutions for 3 years and have received multiple advancements and raises. Throughout this experience I was provided a lot of training and education opportunities, these experiences were especially useful while obtaining my B.S. for Psychology. While this position did have set hours for the shifts, they were very flexible with the days I was able to work. I found the company very understanding throughout this process. I was able to advance following my completion of school and was provided many different positions and routes depending on my interests. Overall, my experience at Solutions has been very pleasant. I have been surrounded by coworkers and supervisors that have supported me and provided in the moment coaching. I would recommend this company to others hoping to gain experience in the field.
