I am writing this review as a proud employee of SSH, a Long-Term Acute Care (LTAC) facility that has truly exceeded my expectations in every aspect. From the moment I joined the team, I have been continually impressed by the commitment to excellence and the genuine care that defines this exceptional healthcare institution.

First and foremost, the dedication of the entire staff to providing high-quality patient care is nothing short of remarkable. The team at SSH consistently goes above and beyond to ensure that our patients receive the specialized and compassionate attention they need. The collaborative spirit among colleagues creates a supportive and nurturing environment, making it a pleasure to come to work every day.

The leadership team at SSH deserves special recognition for their transparent communication, approachability, and strategic vision. Their guidance and support empower employees to excel in their roles and contribute to the hospital's success. I have always felt heard and valued as a member of the team, which significantly enhances job satisfaction.

In conclusion, SSH is more than just a workplace – it's a community dedicated to providing outstanding patient care while fostering a supportive and enriching environment for its employees. I am genuinely proud to be a part of this outstanding LTAC facility, and I would highly recommend SSH to both healthcare professionals seeking a fulfilling career and patients in need of specialized, compassionate care.

Working at SSH has been one of the most stressful, low points in my career. I was so overworked and spread thin, often working overtime and still unable to  finish my work load at the end of the day due to understaffing.  I felt I wasn’t heard when expressing the need for more support. There are really good leaders in certain departments that were a pleasure to work with and are really trying to make the hospital a better place.  I enjoyed working with the patients, but often found myself having to advocate for them given their poor day to day care. They will hire just about anyone at SSH just to have more hands on deck without providing proper training or education. The morale is very low overall. There’s a reason why there is such high turnover. It feels like this hospital cares more about money than prioritizing patient care and safety, as well as the safety of its employees. I watched some of my coworkers pull nearly 80-hour work weeks to fill in the gaps for months at a time, with hardly any recognition from upper management or more importantly, action to prevent burnout. Working like this is unsafe for not only the employees, but the patients as well. I truly wish for this place to do better. Unfortunately there aren’t many long term acute care hospitals in the area. 

Old building can’t meet needs of high acuity patients. No phones or call buttons with talking for patients creTe horrible patient service. Highly understaffed (even though staff is wonderful and hardworking) which causes poor service and frustration and even danger for patient safety. This results in staff stress, anguish that they can’t meet their individual high standards, Corporate  and administration just keep piling in the patients by turning old offices into patient rooms even if they lack basic health & safety needs. They keep having blackouts because the old building can’t meet current needs. They push staff to work outside of scope and best practices and they are punitive and retaliatory if you say NO or assert it is not safe or is out of your scope of practice . I would never be a patient here or let someone I love be here .... not because of the wonderful staff but because corporate and administration have set the tone, standards and outline for failure in patient satisfaction. They just want to collect the money.  

Don’t even bother applying- you’ll save yourself in the long run. Pay is terrible, benefits aren’t very good and you’ll be so stressed out everyday. All the nurses are stressed out and they are maxed out with their patient load constantly. CNAs are overworked and paid poorly as well. HR will make the position look great and when you start actually working you realize how terrible the place is. There isn’t enough equipment for the patients they get and they are constantly admitting patients when there isn’t enough nurses on the floor. This place is seriously shady- I’m sure the good reviews are from the administration team trying to lure you in or they’ve asked people to change their reviews to give them a better rating. The only good thing (which is slowly fading) is the staff that work there. It’s a small hospital so you become family. Administration is poorly ran and they can’t keep leadership or have qualified leadership for the nurses. HR is a joke as well- the HR manager never answers her phone so good luck trying to get anything accomplished. 

I am a part of Sonoma Specialty. and I can confidently say that it's an outstanding place to work. The hospital's commitment to patient care and employee satisfaction is truly impressive.

This is an old building that has gone thru many changes over the years, it is in desperate need of upgrades. The patient rooms have no phones, the building has no fire alarm system (there is a person that walks the halls day and night touching all doors to check for fire!!), supplies are not well stocked, staffing is spotty and the admissions keep coming whether we have staff or not. The patient care suffers greatly despite the heroic efforts of employees, we cannot do a proper job without having the resources we need to keep our patients safe and well cared for. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone (staff or patient) until necessary changes are made. The potential for superior service is there, the staff is very hard working, but until the corporate offices give us what we need we cannot give excellent care.

Unfortunately I left because I felt that the care I was able to provide was not up to my standards and I felt that my license was on the line. I never knew who was in charge as that was in constant flux. The staffing was inadequate and supplies were very limited including PPE and basics like IV supplies. It was disorganized and many of the nurses were inexperienced. I believe that we need an LTAC in Sonoma County and hope that Sonoma Specialty is able to measure up as there are many dedicated hard working employees there. Hospitals should not be for profit entities. What is wrong with Sonoma Specialty is what is wrong with health care in general.

This is a great work experience for an LVN wanting to become an RN. The 12 hour shifts are nice and go by fast. Upper management is like at any hospital but the Directors of nursing are very supportive and make sure that everyone is supported and comfortable in their positions. The charting can be time consuming but teaches a lot and helps to be a better nurse .   The pay could be a little better but extra shifts are usually available to earn extra money. Although it’s hard work it’s good work and at the end of the day I always feel accomplished in some way. If you can realize there are pros and cons at any hospital but want to do a lot of hands on nursing care such as wound care, a wide range of medications including IV , patients on ventilators, patient teaching, and work with experienced and amazing nurses this is definitely the place for you. 

There has been a severe decline on all levels, creating a chaotic, tenuous, unsafe environment for patients and staff. Patient acuity is extremely high. Ratios are completely inappropriate. New management has very little experience and there is no open communication. We have no voice, no one to speak to about serious, unsafe issues. There are major legal issues- not in compliance with state requirements.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Its not a best company. Even a RN commot gross negligence the hospital dont do nothing. The RN is untouchable.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part is when you work with other RN who is crazy.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful environment due to other RN makes mistake like gross negligence and the hospital dont do nothing but those who take over break was fired out.
