If you are looking for an EMT job  to practice skills and use any of the knowledge you've gained. You'll be highly disappointed.  99.99% of the ER tech job at southcentral is 
1. Cleaning 
2.  stocking
3.  And 0.01% of the time , you'll do an occasional clinical task 
Just something to be aware of. 
 
A typical shift will look like :
Clock in 
Clean rooms
Stock rooms 
Clean rooms 
Stock rooms 
Walk patient to X-ray or some imaging
Come back and clean and stock rooms 
Clean and stock rooms again 
Walk another patient to imaging 
Clean and stock more 
Clock out. 
So just be honest with yourself , if you don't want to be a "janitor in a hospital " this position isn't for you.

And also to save management from having to continue to rehire new people ) they are an awesome group of people ; so a positive , happy culture there is huge. 
Again, amazing culture though, no drama , caring Management, best benefits package i've ever had. 

I left so I can practice the medicine I've been trained to do and want to continue to grow. Not at all because of work envirment or culture.  That part is an A+++

My experience at Southcentral Foundation highlighted significant concerns regarding leadership structure and operational support. Management often engaged in micromanagement rather than collaborative leadership, and there appeared to be a disconnect between clinical decision-making and administrative oversight.

In several rural village assignments, chronic understaffing created sustained periods of extended call coverage without additional compensation. These conditions contributed to provider fatigue and raised concerns about long-term sustainability of care delivery. Proactive workforce planning and retention strategies did not appear to adequately address these recurring shortages.

Additionally, accountability and performance management among staff seemed inconsistent. Strong teams require clear standards and follow-through, and that was not always evident.

The most pressing issue, however, was the ongoing short staffing in rural communities and the lack of timely, effective solutions to correct it. These challenges ultimately influenced my decision to seek opportunities elsewhere.

A typical day at work would be to come in before the residents were awake, ensure that everybody got up and got ready for breakfast and school on time, and then help out during classes wherever needed.  I was responsible for providing group teachings almost everyday, and then spending time documenting those teachings for each resident that was present.  Sometimes upper management seemed pretty clueless, as we were almost constantly understaffed and my supervisors/managers had to fight pretty hard to have fun things approved for our residents.  My co-workers were all great, but everybody always looks so overworked.  There is generally a feel of camaraderie, as we have to work together as a team or we sink.  The hardest part of my job was keeping all of the plates spinning day-in and day-out.  The most enjoyable part for me was working with the residents.  It was very difficult working with these residents, but the knowledge that most of them were ultimately appreciative and learned a variety of new skills made it feel worth it.

A typical day at work was enjoyable with the custumers. I learn from them, not from the management who was more busy being rude with the employees who were not part of "the white" team. The management discrimated people of color and Native of Alaska, you will think this being a Native Organization they will have more Native in management but that is not the case with Southcentral Foundation. My co-workers were always under stress and working in a hostile working environment.
The hardest part of my job was dealing with managers who were not working directly with the custumers but they wanted to tell you how to do your job with zero experience.
Southcentral Foundation does not hired good managers and care less about the customers. They do not pay attention to the needs of the custumers only the money they bring to the program, never in all the years I worked in Southcentral Foundation I saw a good case or a prospect of a good case after treatment in Southcentral Foundation, they also portray another image in public.

I was hired while completing my externship. In doing my externship I went through orientation just as any new-hire would as well. With that, I did not have to repeat my orientation but was given a position in Family Medicine to work alongside a Nurse Practitioner/Midwife and on the days that I floated, I covered other medical assistants and worked with a number of different providers from MDs, DOs, to working in the OBYGN department. While working at Southcentral Foundation (SCF) I was able to experience what it was like to have a work family. We were not only co-workers but our relationships towards each other and our customer-owners (patients) was our number one goal. We had a vision to empower our customer-owner's health and the clinical environment. SCF offered educational classes, educational groups, and also spiritual healing etc. which were both offered to the employees as well as the customer-owners. I don't think I'll ever find a better work place such as SCF. The family and friendships I built here will last forever!

Great peers, learning opportunities as well as professional development in dental. Peers like to joke around with a good sense of humor, have conversations, check in with you, lots of potlucks, birthday gifts and jokes, but will absolutely do the job as expected. Occasional fun staff meeting that builds relationships and team skills. It certainly feels like family. 
Supervisors care about your wellbeing and mental health which at these times can be hard to find. They give great feedback to help you grow professionally and always help you with any questions, and to my surprise no matter how many times you ask. I love their patience!
 Understaffing in most of the departments make it a little more stressful at times but we manage and try to make the best of it. I cannot speak for other departments but dental has been great. 

After my training because of my high score, I was able to pick which department I wanted to work.  I chose Primary Care 2E because of the supervisor.  She is a lovely, kind, and supportive individual.  I enjoyed working for her.  However, she left the department and another woman took her position.  I did not have favor with the new supervisor.  At the same time, I received a new manager.  The past manager was tough but he was fair.  The new manager was not a good manager.  In fact, a highly favored physician left SCF to work for Providence because the providers were not respected.  This physician had worked for SCF for twenty years.  I worked for her temporarily and concluded that she was one of the finest doctors that SCF had.  Years later, she offered me a position working for her as a caregiver.  

I understand that my experience working for SCF is not typical.  I feel that I had a run of bad luck.

Working with the doctors as a dental assistant was absolutely great but working with the supervisors was constantly emotional draining. They're condescending when they talk to you making the work environment tense/toxic when it's unnecessary. Supervisors will stay in their offices on their phones hanging out, gossiping about employees even though there's a "no gossiping rule" but if they find out that you've been "gossiping" you get in trouble for it. They get after you for the smallest things, if they happen to notice you're sitting down after you've done all the work you can do to stay busy- they get after you but yet they can sit in the office on their phones? Work-life balance is barely there. You're expected to request time off 6 months in advance to get your time off approved. If you don't have PTO hours you get written up for taking time off. Overall the experience I had working with SCF was okay. It gave me the experience/knowledge I needed to work in private practice.

This company has a huge focus on promoting RAISE, Administrative Supports trainee and temps agency employee. My boss was a Admin Trainee, he went from from sleeping in his office to Management.
This organization made it clear my degree, and experience did not count for a fair wage.
The senior Human Resource staff, lack higher education and determine on boarding employees pay to a lower pay based off their own work experience. This company values employees who stay with the organization to move up but do not value new employees who enter with education and experience.  These employees do not fair well.
This organization has hired many temp employee over direct hire applicants into management track positions. 
It's also who you know, not what you know for advancement.
You either fit in or you do not.
