Typically, I check the recent and current patient exam list each morning. Check patient histories then plan out exam traffic with transporters and other techs. Or assist other techs with current exams. 
   I learn something new or reinforce medical/radiological knowledge nearly every day. As for personnel and patients, I've learned alot about interacting with different personalites.
  Management definately is a fully loaded responsibility. In has to take in consideration the philosophies of the individual, the team, physicians, administration, patients and the business of it all. Id say they do their job very well here at SAMC. 
  All Ive seen lately are dedicated, caring, smart individuals with extremely different personalities. We somehow work together for the same goals: pleasing the doctors and caring for the patients as if they were our own family members.
  The universal " we're short staffed" cry comes to mind as the most challenging part of the job, not often but sometimes. How to balance giving everyone the best, most timely, technically sound, and compassionate care all the time, every time with a finite staff to abundant patient ratio. It has the potential to degrade a patient's experience. I feel this is ultimately the major cause for negative patient feedback. Patients feel neglected if left waiting too long for a tech to become free. Or an exam would simply run twice as efficiently with two sets of hands as opposed to just one. Also, an equally negative impact is a patient feeling "rushed" through their exam. Not taking time with especially the elderly could be perceived as "cold". This is why the individuals that work in Radiology at SAMC are a special breed. We make it work with a heart and we don't get burned out.
  Knowing you made a difference, especially in a life or death or quality of life situation. We are the eyes of the doctors. For me, I love it when I succeed in performing an exam that may be difficult, rare, or that has never performed before. Positive feedback from the Radiologist feels very nice.

Horrible management. It's interesting that EVEN HR, suggests that a good employee goes somewhere else for work, because the pay is going to stay low, the individual treatment of how you're treated, harrassed, and the negligent management is NOT going to change, especially in a way that will benefit you at all. Southeast Health will waste thousands of dollars for pointless reasons, spend millions on advertising, yet NEVER pay SOME employees what their job is worth! Nothing is without retaliation. Even HR claims to have an open door/no retaliation policy, but that's NOT the reality, or much of a possibility!

I have worked here for 3 years, and although I like the people I work with, the management leads by fear. They keep you in fear of your job to keep you in line, and when you got to Human Resources they retaliate in some way with counseling sheets saying you aren't doing your job correctly. They always find some creative way to get back at you for trying to have a non-hostile, work environment. My job has been threatened on numerous occasions, and a certain manager has let it be known to his favorites that he has a personal problem with me. With that being said, true managers are supposed to be able to differentiate between personal, and business, but that isn't the case here, since all the "Good ol' boys," all go drinking, and rubbing elbows with each other regularly. (2-3 nights per week) I am hoping someone from Human Resources sees this, as I cannot lose my job, but I need some relief from the constant micro-managing, the inability to differentiate between friendship, colleague, and constant retaliation. So with all that being said, advancement is out of the question, unless you are a member of the "Good ol' boy club." Maybe another department is better and doesn't operate in this manner, but this one sure does.

My 12hour 7p.m.to 7a.m shift started with a smile and desire to make sure my residents physical, emotional needs were met the best of my ability as well as other supporting staff.  
   
Preparing residents for bedtime, surgical preps, patient education and pain management. I enjoy ambulating with Cardiac patients, this was their time to have a quiet stroll or a listening ear to share concerns or worries about their pre/post procedurre experience.
  
 I learned various types of cardiac incisions and wound care. I assist with admissions, transfers and discharges. I was able to initiate or asssist during emergency situations in a professional manner. 

My co -workers are extreme team players . We practice effective stress reduction techniques and maintain strong level of communication.

  The hardest part of Cardiac Care would be not being able to save everyone. The most enjoyable part of Cardiac Care is knowing you have touched someones heart made a difference in their care. I can do this forever.

I really enjoyed working there, The only reason I left was due to my family moving back down here to Florida. We would have admissions and discharges, but no more then 6 patients at a time. Everything was computer charting. Management was easy to talk to. Everyone worked together as a team. The hardest part of my job was the diagnosis of cancer on a child and loosing them to cancer. The most enjoyable part of my job was watching my patients get better and playing with the children, watching them smile and laugh even though they were sick. I learn great IV skills due to children have very small veins. I learn how important it is to work together as a team. I learned a lot about would care because we would have several patients come in with abscesses. We took care of a lot of post op patients including adults.

Used to be a fun and beneficial place to work. You would get 5% merit raises each year, free health insurance, end-of-year bonuses. Now it is 2.5% merit raises, high deductible insurance, and no bonuses (although management still gets theirs). The best you get is a free lunch from the cafeteria around Christmas. They used to hand out $15 gift cards to Winn Dixie around Thanksgiving but that has stopped, too. The place has become so cut-throat that you can't trust your management as they will throw anyone under the bus to make sure they don't look bad. The new CEO cut out over 85 regular employee positions but has stacked more people in administration than we've ever had. More 6 figure salaries for everyone in administration while all the employees that keep the place running get cut out of bonuses and raises.

I'm currently working here now,I loved my job at first. I'm so scared of loosing it because i just started working there. I just don't like they tell you one thing and expect you to do something else. They expect you to clean several rooms and make several beds all in a matter of minutes, you run around like a chicken trying to please them and it seems like you are doing a good job, then they start to say the rooms aren't clean or you're taking too long cleaning the rooms. one person says don't worry about the time just make sure the rooms clean, then another person says you're spending too much time cleaning the rooms. I have no experience in housekeeping before this job and they know this, I don't know what else to say or do, I fear of loosing my job when i just started May and this month makes 1 month. They always go behind certain ones and right now it seems like i'm the only one they are going behind acting like i'm not doing my job.

As a lab assistant at SAMC, my shift started at 8 pm and ended at 8 am the following morning. I would clock in, gather my tray, grab labels from the counter, and go to various floors of hospital collecting specimens for testing. I had one co-worker that worked alongside me during my shift and we formed a strong friendship. The hardest part of the job was collecting specimens in a timely manner whenever there wasn't enough people to cover the shift. You would either make it or don't make it. Another hard part of the job was balancing sleep, life outside the job, and work. I worked 3rd shift for little over 2 years and my body did not like it. I enjoyed my job, but the stress it was putting on my body was too much. I took my doctors advice, quit my job, and started looking elsewhere.

I have enjoyed my 8 years at SAMC, I learn every day I go into work. I currently work on Nephrology/Urology/Dialysis floor. Most people will not work this floor because it's too demanding and cannot handle it. I pride myself in being able to not only work this floor, but handle most anything that arises. I am very good at picking up on when a patient is in trouble as well as communicating with the patient to keep them updated on their care. I have worked other areas in the hospital, but have learned the most during my time on this particular unit.

You clock in, go to your work area and begin your day. There are times you can visit with staff and patients. 
I learned a lot of new skills at Southeast.
Management, is lacking in some areas. I believe they do the best they can. Covid really is to blame for a lot of SEH shortcomings. 
Work culture is wonderful. We have time to enjoy our work family, we have flexibility to enjoy our family, and take care of our health needs.
The hardest part of my job at SEH was feeling of being overwhelmed at times. But, I believe that’s true in any medical office. It is just a lot at times. 
The most enjoyable part of being at SEH was my work family, and our patients. The patients are why you are there. When you treat them like family, you will never go wrong. When they are happy, everything goes well for everyone.
