This has been one of the worse companies I've ever worked for. The turnover rate is extremely high the number of employees have a dropped to about 1/3 since working here and management does not seem to care nor have they tried to fix the turnover rate problem. Since employee numbers have dropped they put the extra load on to the ones who are there with no raise and no appreciation. If you are passionate about what you do, you will not find much fulfillment here nor appreciation. The productivity is unrealistic. They always want more from you but never give you any incentives in exchange for the demand. You are punished for things that's out of your control. Less focus on the clients and staff satisfaction more focused on the money. There's favoritism; they pick and choose who rules and punishment is applied to. Management is unprofessional, unorganized and unqualified. The pay is an insult and if you ask for a raise they will use any excuse to deny you such as lack of funds, productivity or some other excuse. There's no chance for a raise or advancement especially if they don't like you. The pay checks have been days or a week late for the past few months and the downfall of the company is blamed on clinicians. There's not much I can say I liked about the company except my clients and the ladies I worked with. Unfortunately serenity of office environment depends on which location you work in. There are employees who are allowed to bully and rat on/lie about other employees, nothing was done about it and management engaged subordinates in their unprofessional behavior. I would not recommend anyone to work here.

Southwest Mississippi Mental Health is a great work environment with plenty of opportunities for advancement within the company. This company is a great choice for people who have a passion for mental health and making an impact in the community. Management has been very supportive and helpful throughout my time here. Southwest Mississippi Mental Health has provided a peaceful work environment where we work together as a team and everyone is respectful of one another. I love assisting those in the community that we serve and provide mental health resources for. I’m learning things I’ve always wanted to and I look forward to going to work every day.

What is the best part of working at the company?
You help people progress in there life and become independent individuals. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Filling all the roles as a staff,case worker,therapist. And the paperwork. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Ok , the culture is a little to pushy to some clients. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Paperwork meet with clients, appointments, group,more paperwork, meet your assigned client paperwork, clean office and go home.

This company has completely reshaped my perspective on Behavioral Health! I learn something new everyday & it compels me to be a true advocate for these services our communities truly need. I am fairly new to the company but I fit in the moment I started & I love the 'family' atmosphere.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Being able to do different activities with the kids, and learning from the therapist

Driving on the one location to the next

The culture seemed to be a friendly one and most persons were willing to help.

Do various activities and also some training

The agency truly cares about the clients we serve and the staff that work with them. I have never worked with a more supportive management team. If you are committed to your clients, seeing your clients and meeting their needs you will never have a bad day at the agency. Community mental health is an important service and meeting the needs of our community is the mission of the agency.  If you are passionate about mental health and want to grow as an agency this is the place for you. 

I worker at SWMMH for six months as a child therapist. They refused to hire more therapist to help with reducing the number of people on one therepist caseload. Before I left there were at least 150-160 people on my caseload and everyweek added more. Management wasn't concerned with the numbers or the stress loads, The Pros were working with the kids and helping families.

I enjoy what I do everyday. I am very in tune with my clients needs and I do all I can to meet those needs. A typical work day is unheard of simply because you never know what to expect each day. I get along great with my coworkers. I have learned a lot by working here this past year, not only about the vulnerable adult population but also about myself.

The most enjoyable part of this job is being able to help people in their time of need. The management team has good intentions, but there could be different approaches taken to meet goals and a lot more accountability should be considered. Although COVID had a negative impact, the recently received federal grants have helped the company tremendously. Overall, there is an opportunity for growth within the company. 

Upon arrival, the company seemed a little in disarray but as time goes by, I see a team that is working hard to reach the community and build the integrity of the company. I have high hopes and look forward to growth within the company and making positive changes in the lives of my fellow Mississippians!
