Overall a great place to work. Most people are extremely kind and helpful. People  truly care for one another! The employee morale is probably the best of any hospital I’ve worked for in the area, and the CEO does a great job promoting and engaging all surrounding communities. 

The wages are not very competitive for what they require of their skilled workers, which explains why they overcompensate in other ways. Roles are often times misconstrued and not clearly defined, and management seems to struggle with professional etiquette. 

There is a serious case of cliques, and often times blame surfaces quickly when things go array. This can be extremely dangerous as it is often stemmed from issues of diversity, equity and inclusion. There is no accountability or protection from bullying. 

Southwoods is the only company I know of that does not post jobs internally, which is NOT okay. That alone has nepotism written all over it. There is ZERO professional development and as the growth continues, improvement in this area can be very beneficial. 

Overall, there needs to be more structure, more organization, better compensation and more accountability. If those things are done overtime Southwoods will remain as a competitive  employer, even though the pay/benefits aren’t that great! 

This is a good place to work if you’re looking for a position of comfort and job-security. Great CEO. I am still optimistic about what the future holds for Southwoods. Advancement is possible, but eventually you’ll encounter ignorance or arrogance. Sometimes incompetence. The culture is great, but having the wrong people in the wrong positions can taint the experience and ruin the culture.

If you're looking for a career in IT, look elsewhere. I joined after being promised a chill work environment where everyone's on the same page and everybody is treated like an equal member of the team. Total opposite. I was bullied into staying at my desk most of the day, while others in the department clique got to do all of the hands-on work, or just mess around and make noise while others try to do their job and assist end users.

Management is either completely blind to the problems, or are happy to tolerate it to maintain status quo. HR seems to be overworked - when I took issues to them, the solution was to move people around in the office. I've never felt so ostracized in a workplace.

On the whole, pay is decent, but benefits are too expensive. Most people around the rest of the company are pleasant to work with. The company does offer some cool feel-good incentives, like free ham and turkey for the holidays and several company parties throughout the year. Unfortunately, said parties probably do more to solidify cliques than anything, and I get the sense that some of these are just distractions from actually raising wages.

The "Southwoods Way" is a philosophy most employees seem to stick to, which is very refreshing - it's just a real shame the IT department certainly does NOT stick to that behavior. If you're looking for IT experience, look elsewhere, and if you're part of another department - I'm sorry you have to deal their behavior.

Patient to nurse ratios are by far the best you will encounter in the area. Which allows you more time to spend with individual patients. The teamwork is absolutely better than anywhere else you will work in healthcare. The pay is average, but for the workload its fair. The benefits are very costly and not great. Its more of who you know than what you know at times, and thats one of the drawbacks. Things have changed as far as the health and condition of the patients they accept for surgeries now, which lends to a more stressful work environment and at times is upsetting. They are not an acute care hospital and those with serious preexisting conditions would be better served at another facility, because if something were to happen they will do all they can to keep in house, sometimes at the detriment of the patient. This makes people nervous about their license. If you can handle the occasional pettiness and intensely stressful situations that emerge from handling cases above the care level they provide, then this may be a great place for you. Advancement is hard, job postings arent really posted, they usually pick and choose who they hand pick for upcoming jobs, without a fair posting for all. Its definitely a beautiful place as a patient, but a very snobby place for a worker.

This is not what I signed up for. At my interview “floating” to other offices was never mentioned or discussed. When other offices are short staffed we’re ask to fill in at other offices. Sometimes with little to no notice. The main campus sends employees out to other offices with spreadsheets. The spreadsheets indicate everything you did wrong the previous month. The employee that was sent will go over all of your mistakes with you. Often these visits interrupt day to day operations. They come at the most inconvenient times of the day and stay for hours. Management does not take complaints seriously. You can get away with murder and not lose your job. Company polices vary depending on the office you’re at that day. What you can do at one office, you can’t do at another. What applies to everyone doesn’t apply to you. There is nothing cohesive about this company. At every turn they purchase new software. Now you’ve become responsible for work the billing department should do. But don’t worry, if being a walking advertisement for Southwoods is your goal this is the place to be. Apparel, mugs, bags… I would rather see more money in my paycheck than another jacket. 

When I was in nursing school I had goals to work at Southwoods Health. When I finally achieved a position I quickly learned that you cannot judge a book by its cover. I felt so proud to be a part of Southwoods and I truly believed in the “Southwoods way,” however, after being employed I experienced a high level of disfunction that has only become worse over a period of time. Poor management, lack of accountability and lack of respect from superiors was a surprising challenge that started early on in my employment there. I experienced a culture of manipulation and lack of respect from my direct manager. I never had any issues with other staff members or people in other departments. Staff members are always very kind and your presence is always acknowledged. I have had the pleasure of working with many talented doctors who take pride in being a part of Southwoods, as do I. 

I joined the Southwoods team as I heard great things about the hospital. I worked in the Pain and Spine Center Specifically. At first it was ok, but then I think it got too big too fast. 
I left my position because I felt terrible about things happening at the facility. Dr's were ordering unnecessary follow ups-which patients were led to believe we're needed. Patients seemed to become just a number. 
Cliques are a huge thing at this workplace. There is favoritism and if you are not in with the favorites you are in for it. There are double standards.
Even when you do something exactly as its ordered its still wrong. You just cant win. Benefits are terrible, pay could be better. New people make more than some existing employees.

Not what I expected everyone talks about how great this place is, I learned quickly that is not the case unless you are ready to be a brown noser and say how high when anyone says jump, doctors are whiney and spoiled, management is clueless some do not even have a nursing or any sort or medical licensure they will target certain individuals, but let others slide had I known this would be the experience I would not have accepted a position at this facility, their Healthcare benefits are a joke and pay is less than average unless you are a doctor or advanced practice care provider. You can tell ownership is more concerned about the money coming into their pockets then paying their staff adequately. 

The Surgical Hospital at Southwoods is a place which prides itself on patient satisfaction. From the time you enetr the facility until your departure, all encounters with staff is one of the best you will ever experience. The kidness and consideration, not only to patients, but to each other as well is something I have never experienced in a work place in my career thus far. I am sad to leave but will take with me the attitude, caring and kidness where ever I go.
The owner, Mr. Muransky is very kind, supportive and generous with numerous tokens of appreciation. It can be from an Aunt Annie pretzel for all the staff to an amazing summer party to show us his appreciation for all the hard work we do each day.

Be prepared to do the job you were hired for and about 3-4 others as well. They do not staff appropriately, and expect other employees to pick up the slack in other unrelated positions as well. Southwoods does not pay on par with other medical facilities  - it's lower. And don't expect much in the way of raises. You might get 2% a year. The health insurance is terrible. You have to meet your full deductible before it pays a dime. They like to throw a few parties during the year, but honestly we would all appreciate better pay instead. You will be drowning in Southwoods tshirts. It's a nice facility for patients, but they need to get pay and benefits in line for the employees. 

Love the fact that the patients are the main priority. Many of the doctors and office staff are wonderful.
However as an employee on main campus, things need to be better. How Big Ed thinks things run and how they actually run are two very different things. Managers will not handle things (some are not equipped/qualified to be managers) and cause toxic work environments. Those that bring up escalating an issue to "upstairs" gets let go. Reviews are a joke because those that work hard get the same number as those messing up. The the percentage is mere cents added to an already terrible pay.  No communication between departments.
