I had the unfortunate experience of being employed at SpectrumVoIP, and I can confidently say that it was the worst career decision I've ever made. From the moment I walked in the door, it was evident that this company is a hotbed of incompetence and mismanagement.

Let's start with the work culture. If you enjoy an environment that thrives on demotivation and negativity, SpectrumVoIP is the place for you. The company's culture is a toxic mix of favoritism, micromanagement, and arbitrary decision-making. Instead of fostering a collaborative atmosphere, they breed an atmosphere of fear and anxiety. It's a constant battle to keep your head down and avoid being the next target of a management tantrum.

Speaking of management, it's hard to imagine a more disorganized and clueless bunch of individuals. It's as if they attended a seminar on how not to lead a team. Communication is practically non-existent, and when it does occur, it's often unclear and contradictory. Decisions are made on a whim, and any attempts to seek clarification or offer suggestions are met with condescension and dismissiveness.

Advancement? Good luck with that. SpectrumVoIP boasts about their commitment to growth opportunities, but it's all a smokescreen. There's zero room for career advancement unless you're one of the "chosen few" who are in the inner circle of the management clique. Otherwise, you're stuck in a dead-end role with no prospects of moving up the ladder. They dangle the carrot of advancement in front of you, but it might as well be made of solid lead for how unattainable it is.

The turnover rate is mind-boggling. It's like a revolving door of employees, with new faces coming in and fleeing just as quickly. And who could blame them? Anyone with an ounce of self-respect and career aspirations would run for the hills after spending even a short time at this company. The fact that the majority of new hires leave within months should be a red flag to anyone considering employment here.

In conclusion, if you value your mental and professional well-being, stay far away from SpectrumVoIP. The work culture is soul-crushing, the management is an exercise in chaos, and the promises of advancement are empty words. Don't waste your time on this sinking ship of a company. Your career deserves better than the nightmare that is SpectrumVoIP.






SpectrumVoIP has a great value offering to give to clients. Phones are included in their pricing, all features are part of the package. The problem is that the company product is terrible. 

The mobile application we provide to customers is barely functional. The soft phone is genuinely garbage and really shouldn't be used ever.

The onboarding is good but the time to rollout the onboarding and install is steadily increasing each day because project managers are overloaded.

Our seat minimums are conflicting. You can't process 1 seat deals ever, it has to go straight to the company which effectively steals commission from the reps. Compensation is based on a 3 month rolling average, so if you have 1 bad month you're going to be hurting.

SpectrumVoIP isn't affiliated with Spectrum but customers call in assuming we are. I spend a stupid amount of time explaining to customers we're not Spectrum, we're SpectrumVoIP. It's purposely confusing and frustrating for everyone. 

We have a video platform we give to customers for free that doesn't work on mobile phones and is touted as a "Zoom Killer". Lol, the company doesn't even use their own video platform for meetings, they use Zoom, the actual competitor they slam in our presentation. 

The contract terms customers signs are predatory and long because they're based on leases the customer is indebited to banks on. Brilliant model for the company but awful for the consumer. 

If the customer ONLY needs basic phones, this is a great service. But there's probably better options for everyone. 

If you want to wake up every morning to texts and emails telling you Today You Must Close Business!!!  , this might be the company for you.

If you want to be told at 3pm on the first day of the month you need to be on a call for those behind pace for the month, this might be the company for you.

If you want to see your new hire class success rate equal to the Navy Seals training, this might be the company for you.  

If you want to sale a product that your clients have problems with instantly...well, you get it.  

If you want to start at a company that gives you a ramp up period of 25% quota month 1, 50% 2nd, 75% 3rd, 100% 4th, just to enter your 2nd month and be told there is no ramp up, you should be at 100% this month, then this is the company for you!

They motivate strictly with threats, embarrassment, and belittling their employees.  The turnover ratio has to be around 500-1000% for the sales team, which is absolutely crazy. 

If you are unemployed and want to take a shot at it, by all means.  But if you have a decent job or any other decent offers, there is no way I would go here.  

All sales from BDR’s to outside sales are yelled at and threatened by management daily.  The company has great potential to grow if they treat their employees right.  There is no solid training nor coaching, just constant threats from management....no job security. Yes JOB, this is not a career opportunity - management is poor and cut throat.  I’ve come across some talented  people that will not last more than 1 year. SpectrumVoIP doesn’t care about the customer nor the sales rep, the main focus is their bottom line. So if you come here to build client relationships.....don’t bother, because when something goes wrong there’s no support. This company might have potential if they train and work with the talent they have.  Stress in sales is expected but the disrespect and daily threats are not conducive to a positive work environment. Hopefully things change, otherwise I’m out!

The daily expectations of this company are unrealistic and lead to a high turnover in the account executive position. They don't provide any leads or proper training and throw you "into the pool to see who learns to swim" from day one. Their service is okay, but bigger players in the space can outprice and outperform them by a mile. 

They constantly over hire knowing that 90-95% of those reps will be gone in a month. The high commissions they talk about are only available to the reps who are provided preset appointments running 5-7 a day. You'd be lucky to set 1-2 a day for yourself. 

Fearmongering is their preferred motivation tactic. It starts at the top from upper management and is then passed down through middle managers to the reps. If you like living life on the edge with constant fear of losing your job, this is for you. 

It's a grind. Expectations are high. 
The work is challenging, but not punishing. Everybody wants you to win. The support I receive on a daily basis is amazing, and leadership wants you to feel like the sky is the limit. 

Doesn't hurt that the product is fantastic, flexible, and simple to sell. There are rarely hurdles to jump and red tape is almost non-existent. Commission structure is great, and extremely motivating to bust your number. (Which can happen off of just one sale, I might add). 

If I had to summarize the culture, it's "How can we win together? How can we help each other succeed?" Very positive. High expectations, but not unreasonable. 

The company offers low pay for the tasks performed. We have a high turnover rate that has even resulted in two department heads quitting. Workers that have stayed with the company have lower pay compared to the newly re-hired technicians that quit. When they were hired back, they were given greater pay, a fully remote schedule, and a promotion; things loyal, current employees are not guaranteed at all.

Every business needs a good phone system so leads are bountiful.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
They change direction every other day not allowing campaigns to take hold and build momentum. You can't belief the big hooray weekly meetings. It'll take a few months before you realize things don't measure up.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I(f you are a follower and don't question authority with any of your previous success in sales the environment and culture will be okay. Although they are hiring contract ex-convicts for the team so things have gotten weird.  

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Dialing for dollars. Meetings. Dialing. Sales 101.

My experience as a Technical Support Representative at SpectrumVoIP was overall very positive. The role exposes you to real-world VoIP and networking issues, and the hands-on troubleshooting helps you grow fast. The team environment is collaborative, and people are usually willing to jump in when a ticket gets complicated.

One of the biggest advantages is the focus on learning. They provide access to a Udemy Business account along with an extensive internal LMS, which makes it easy to build skills in VoIP, networking, and general IT. The training resources are genuinely helpful and a standout perk of the job.

I only left due to personal issues outside of work, not because of the company.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Selling your soul for a commission check, and being long gone by the time your customers get the bad news, like the $1,000 invoice for annual property taxes on their "free" phones, or realize what they've committed themselves to for the next 5 years.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The phonecalls you get from customers wondering why they can't just renew without having to go through replacing every single phone all over again. The customers aren't told anything that might cost a deal.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Toxic masculinity comes to mind.

Pretty pleasant if you meet your quotas. Not so pleasant when you dont.
