Over the 7+ years I was employed at the clinic I saw a massive decline in the treatment of how managment treated employees. This decline still continues to this day, as I still have several friends employed with Springfield Clinic. I choose to leave due to the decline in environment. The Clinic does not appear to care about the employees, or how they are treated by managment and on up the ladder. This make a person wander then, Do they care about the patients, I cannot see where they do. What they do care about is the Obama plan, and getting the most $$$ once the "lump sum payment" goes into effect. I honestly believe the plan to achieving this is not based on customer satisfaction, but on keeping all treatments, referals, procedures, etc within the clinic itself. At last count over 90% of the physicians offices were performing at below Press Ganey standards required to recieve the bigger slice of pie payments. Instead of the Clinic doing anything they could to promote better patient satisfaction, they are cutting well trained, respected, and dedicated employees, and bringing ing younger, less experienced, lacking work ethic, and motivation to replace them causing the decline in patient satisfaction. The physicians really have no say in how thier office is ran, there is no job security, has turned into a dictatorship. At first I had thought maybe this was isolated to the area in which I was employed, but since then I have found that it is pretty much clinic wide, and that even though the administrative departments and personal have been informed of multiple department bulling, hostility and so on, the problem(s) continue. This has caused an increase in employee health issues related to the stress of such working conditions, therefore if they do not care about the health issues of the employees - Do they care about thier patients? Unfortunatly it will be the great physicians, and thier patients who will suffer the most.

I worked in the Ob/Gyn Department of
Springfield Clinic 1st. Our department had 16 providers - including nurse practioners. Each day the department would see 200-275 patients and I was one of three front desk receptionist checking in and verifing patient information which includes updating insurance and taking copays as well as payments. I Worked closely with nurses to insure all information is accurate and current. Kept communication open between doctors and patients on status of appointment times. Answered telephone calls and directed them to appropriate area. Scheduled follow up appointments for patients leaving and also called patients to confirm up coming appointments.
Kept front office appealing and welcoming so patients feel comfortable and confident in the professional service they were to receive.
I increased my knowlege of customer service and honed my ability when working in a fast paced office.
Management was supportive and open to my suggestions on how to improve patient flow and to improve the patient experience.
My co-workers varied with personalities and back grounds as any office would be. I feel we pulled together and created a professional atmosphere for employees and patients.
The most difficult part of the job was comforting the patient who had received disappointing news from the doctor and feeling her dispair, knowing nothing you said or did can make it better.
Best part of the job was when a patient expressed their confidence in me and when they would wait for me to check them in. Also when they would compliment me to their provider. Then you know you're doing a great job!

I was employed with the clinic for a little over 6 years, great thing that you can advance, most of the time. Benefits are decent, nothing spectacular, although they promise you a "cost of living increase" every year, but it has been 2 years since the last one for the nursing staff. They do not follow their own policies and procedures. Many departments within the clinic are problematic, and looking from the outside you are able to transfer out, but your manager can stop the transfer if they desire. There is no one willing to help you in administration. You can file a grievence, but it does no good. And if you find something the clinic is doing wrong, legally, morally, or ethically, if they think you will report it, you will be fired as soon as they can, and for bogas reasons. For the most part the doctors are great (by the way, the providers (doctors) are the "partners" of the clinic on paper, but the clinic says you work for the clinic, not the doctors.) over the 6 years I was there, more and more decisions were taken away from the doctors, and "the clinic" now dictates how they are to run their office, and its getting worse by the day. The fellow co-workers are great, and they still have a few good managers, but they are weeding out anyone who has been there any length of time, possibly due to the cost of keeping these employees and their benefits compared to hiring a new graduate.

I have only worked at the clinic for a few years now. Just with in those years my department has went from okay to horrible. They pick on hard working individuals and favor the ones they're scared of. I'm a fairly mild mannered person, I come in do my job and follow the rules. If they say something I don't like I don't make much of a fuss because I'm just there to support my family. The quieter you are though, the more they pick on you. If you're loud, argue and will fight your point agressivly they give in. It really is sad, the good hard working employees get treated horribly. Also, management is allowed to make whatever rules they like. So, they like to make rules and only apply them to certain employees. Favoritism at its finest. I don't reccomend working here to anyone. If you want a nice work eniviorment with out management picking on you and making silly rules whenever they feel like look somewhere else. This isn't the place for you.

The insurance is only good if you work full time and aren't sick. If you have serious health issues and have to see your doctor more than once a year it's junk. Also way too expensive for a part time worker.

As a float nurse, you have the benefit of learning new offices, meeting new people, and staying out of some of the workplace drama. Some offices i loved go float to because of the people (shoutout to derm and Morton pediatrics!!), some i really didn’t care for. Float managers are in Springfield so you can be as supported as one could when they aren’t on-site but once a quarter… I wish they would have listened to float staff’s preferences on where we liked/disliked floating and honored it when they could. Also, when hired i was told we could learn as many units as we wanted, but i was thrown in to so many places without proper training. It would be a good idea to cap you at 4-5 places to float until you really felt confident, because after “learning” so many units you really don’t feel like you can remember enough or give your best to some of the offices you don’t go to as often. Overall, i enjoyed my time and was thankful when i was able to go PRN after having my baby. i would have stayed hadn’t we moved across the country!

I have more than 19years experience in the Clinical Laboratory Science field, currently with The Springfield Clinic in Jacksonville, IL. where I have gained valuable experience with pre-infusion lab preparation. My background in laboratory operations, as well as my ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge effectively, would enable me to play a valuable role with your organization.

Recently, I have demonstrated excellent initiative in setting up the Jacksonville Prompt Care lab. The Moderate complexity Lab was recently inspected by COLA and received an excellent report. My knowledge of specimen processing, routine and complex testing on blood and other fluids, and including my detailed orientated ability maintaining records efficiently My technical skills are well developed and I am adept at maintaining and operating all laboratory equipment. I’m a “go getter” who persistently follows up until a task is complete or problem is fully resolved.
Patient care and working with physicians to help proved continuity of care, and make the job most rewarding.

A typical day for me starts with logging in to a skill set. This keeps track of how long it takes me to answer a call, process a call, hold times, not ready times and also breaks and lunch times. I am the person patients, doctors, and others speak with when they call our department. The hardest thing about my job is not letting factors that are out of my control effect how I do my job. With that said, I enjoy challenges and everyday presents something new that I have to deal with and learn from. 

I have learned many things from being a call center specialist. I have learned how to be a better listener and the importance of being as accurate and as detailed as my job allows when taking information.

Management is always willing to improve as we all are. They have a even greater desire to make sure I have the tools I need to be successful in my day to day job.

At this company - I assisted patients and entered their information into company's database.  I verified insurance and personal information to match the correct patient found in the database.  After verifiying pertinent information, including reason for being seen, I collected any co-pays necessary reflected by their particular insurance.  I also verified to make sure the patient's insurance would cover their visit for the day.  I was involved in pre-assessing the patient and alerting staff if the patient was in a state of emergency or needed assistance.  At the end of the day, I was responsible for collecting and counting my cash drawer to balance with what was entered into the database.  I was responsible for closing the office which included cleaning, locking up particular areas of the office.

For-profit, physician-ran organization that made sure they regularly rewarded their physicians. Uncaring & inflexible toward nurse-patio ratio, nursing benefits, etc. Physicians sing praises for a few nurses but it's all lip service without anything tangible to back up their words. During my short time there, thankfully it was brief,  the pay scale was utterly laughable & an embarrassment to the nursing profession. And, their subpar  treatment of nurses & other staff was reflected plainly in every clinical department by how unhappy & unpleasant many nurses & receptionists were to the patients. This physician-ran multispecialty clinic must be laughing all the way to the bank as well as the entire time they're writing bonus checks to themselves knowing how they keep the nursing pay range so incredibly low in that small-medium city of approx 125-150 thousand.

A typical day consists of not being allowed to clock in until 10 minutes before shift or face punishment by manager.
Besides rooming upwards of 20 patients daily you are expected to prep charts and call patients with what little time you have between patient arrivals.
Work culture is high school mean girl very cliquish catty behavior.
Reporting fellow staff is encouraged 
Pay is below market for same jobs in area 
Highly stressful as clientele can be rude and demanding to staff and management takes side of clientele at all times .
