My typical day in Medical Records always starts with a pot of coffee for myself and the ladies in my department. I then check my e-mail for any deaths within our many facilities. If a death did occur, I contact the MD/NP, bring them the certificate and any other information they need to complete the form. I contact the funeral homes and/or the Medical Examiner and organize them picking it up. I then go over and get every release that is due out to the requestor. Some times this includes billing, and contacting family/companies. My favorite thing about my job is that there is always more to learn and each release is different depending on the patient and his/her records. The hardest part of my job is dealing with upset family members but at the same time it's also one of my favorite parts because I love to listen and try to help in any possible way I can. I believe that customer service is very important and because our residents are what keep our company in business, I believe that the family and residents feelings and concerns come first. I've been able to meet and connect with so many different people because of this, making it the most enjoyable part of my job. Later on during the day, I scan and upload medical records in to the computer system. After this, I check the mail, sort it and then distribute it between the department. Our Medical Records Department is conjoined with our ITS Department so I also help out with them as much as possible.

My day was busy entertaining the residents. I spent a great deal of the day listening to them reminisce about their past, planning exciting, fun activities to engage them away from their rooms and keep them active.
I learned a lot about each resident and what type of person they were before they got to where they are today. I made sure their needs were met socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and spiritually. I became more than just a staff worker. We shared many sensitive moments in reflection and I helped them through troubled times.

Management unfortunately did not take care of items of concern the residents had even after they requested a solution. Management was more concerned about black and white situations and not the bigger picture of what their actions did to effect the residents

My co-workers were supportive and I to them. We worked together to find solutions and positive reinforcement to create more of a team.

The hardest part of my job was not having time to do all the fun things I wanted to offer the residents.

Most enjoyable part of my job was socializing with the residents and seeing how appreciative and happy they were when they engaged in my programs.

It was a pleasure to walk into the facility. The atmosphere was happy and for the most part employees were happy to work there. There was plenty of room to grow and excel. Staff was encouraged to go on in their education and were offered scholarships. The facility had award ceremonies yearly for employees, recognizing their accomplishments. Resident care/safety was very important to them. Important enough to have a Nurse Manager and a Clinical Nurse Manager on each floor. Both managers were Registered Nurses. The most enjoyable part of the job was seeing the resident s happy. As a nurse manager I held town hall meetings every month to inform residents of any new items/changes and to be able to give the residents to voice any concerns or questions. The floor was open to them. The facility had special events every month for the residents including dances, music specials and they loved Bingo. Each floor would also have their own events. I left there because after all the years as a nurse I wanted to try a job that was only Monday through Friday will all holidays off and no weekends. I tried it and I found that I missed working with my own staff and caring for the residents.

I would go to work walking on eggshells d/t people wanting my job and management not helping me and having them always looking over my shoulder to let me know what I've done wrong.  The floor I was on wasn't the most functional floor, but I did experience other floors and it was a night and day experience.  
The CNA's and Nurses tried their hardest everyday even when management was against them.  I loved the residents and my CNA's and most Nurses.  The hardest part was knowing I was being set up to fail and even though I was aware of this,I tried to continue to learn about my position and continued to give my residents the optimal care considering my circumstances.  Most enjoyable part of my job was learning my residents personalities and diagnosis with end stages of life and learning the dynamics of family, good or challenging.  What I've learned from this experience is to always be a RN first, for safety and security for myself and my patients/residents.  Also as a RN, to make an effort to continue learning and having insightful experiences is whats going to  make me an optimal nurse.

St anns is a beautiful place to work at and I loved all the residents but they’re very prejudice and they discriminate . Families has most of what I call control over a lot of their employees . I just feel like the communication is horrible and the management team could be better . Never felt like I could communicate and talk to my floor managers about my problems with how I felt about my team and other employees about how uncomfortable i would be with “team work”.  No matter how hard and stressful work was It never showed . I had soo many allegations against me and it’s very sad . I would be very stressed & would always cry because I always felt like at any point , wether I made a mistake or not I would always felt  like I would lose my job over a tiny mistake and no one would understand. I gained so much experience though and I wouldn’t trade it for anything! Pros and cons ! Great benefits... horrible management!

A typical day within my acute medical office can be very fast-paced. Throughout my tenure, I have learned to have more patience with my colleauges and focus on the customers we serve.  
Management is not very flexible in terms of bending schedules or compensation.  They listen, however; are not very empathetic.  
My co-workers are very supportive of each other and are willing to lend a helping hand.
The hardest part of the job are the scheduled hours.  They are during the busiest times of the business day, and I find plenty of work to keep one occupied up until the moment I am scheduled to leave.  The work-load is also unpredictable which in turn can cause poor time management.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the ability to work with families that really need support.  It is comforting to know I can make a difference for them as part of a team effort.

Direct care for transitional patients status post hospitalization. Patients were in short-term rehab and many had total joint replacements, fem-pop arterial bypass, CABG and post MI patients. The rehab therapists were excellent and were paired in OT/PT which was a very strong aspect of the job. 

The hardest part of the job was determining the specific job roles of the assistant therapists.

Management was not very responsive to suggestions by staff. Management was typical top-down and expectations were driven by directives.

The most enjoyable part of the job was the fast recovery and rapid admission/discharge schedule. Most patients were discharged within two weeks of admission. It was so much fun watching patients improve so well and so fast.

No job is perfect, but I've found that at St. Ann's Community, each area of employment offers the best opportunities for their employees. For example, CNA's are provided great benefits and numerous appreciations such as attendance bonuses and free meals. All employees are given opportunities for career advancement, academic scholarships, tuition reimbursement, leadership academy programs.

It isn't uncommon to see employees who have been at St. Ann's Community for 10-20 years, as well as finding people who started in entry-level jobs and worked their way up to Management positions and Director status.

St. Ann's Community provides everything you could possibly want in a job. It's your responsibility as the employee to utilize everything the company has to offer and contribute to the company and its culture.

I was an intern and then hired as a per diem  Social worker to cover vacations and sick days so it wasn't always steady work. I did enjoy the environment, philosophy, and job duties. I work mainly in Transitional care /rehab, which was fast paced with daily admissions, discharges family meetings with IDT. I had a great mentor who taught me so much about the position in a Rehab unit,; organizational skills, communication with various family personalities and dynamics, paperwork required and time management. The team of social workers were helpful and went out of their way to to explain any new procedure.
I especially enjoyed working in a Christian facility, which exuded a sense of peace. There one philosophy was any time you get on the elevator say hello and converse with the other elevator riders. this made for a very friendly environment and a way to get to know co-workers.  .

My experience at Saint Anns was horrible to say the least. Co workers where very gossipy there wasn't any team work or they pick and choose who they want to assist. Rude to residence speaking ill about them in there presence. Brought a couple of incidents to management concerning co-workers where statements where involved nothing was ever done about the situation I was made to look like the one with the issues. When ever I expressed my concerns they where brushed off like I didnt matter. Upper management hangs out with staff wasnt professional or concerned about new employees staff that's been employed for years could get away with bullying, tardiness, rude to residents, and fabricating statements.
