I love this hospital! My work experience at this hospital (even though I was a contracted employee working for another company.) I found my surroundings and the people I worked with very comfortable. I worked in the ER on the 'off shift' in with the St. Francis Registration Acct. Reps. I had some of the best, kind and wonderful people around me. That includes the ER supervisors on any shift. We worked together and I honestly loved my time with them all. This hospital does their best to help the patients and also their contracted employees. I feel proud to have been able to spend the past 11 months working there and making some really wonderful friends. I have nothing but good things to say about this hospital, doctors and nurses who ran the ER and the representatives who tried to make my stay there a great experience. I want to add that the supervisors that I worked with, did their best to make my experience a very positive one. The ER supervisors are extremely helpful to everyone and they were great with me from the very first day I started. Thank you St. Francis, for a very POSTIVE experience. I also would like to make mention that the billing Dept who I ocassionally worked closely with, tried their best to help me (and I them) in order to help the patients who had some financial difficulties. THANK YOU!! One of the best hospitals I have had the pleasure to work at. Thank you so much!!
Even though I did not get paid by St. Francis or be able to advance etc. because I worked for an outside company, I feel that if I had worked directly for them, that they would still get the highest of ratings!!! If I get hurt or have heart problems, get me to THIS hospital.

I've recently started working for this company. We are still in the planning phase but coming close to the end in a few weeks of introducing Obstetrics to this hosptial . We are working in a conference room as of right now until the unit is finished. We have worked on creating order sets, computer charting, entering labs. We have helped the occupational nurse give flu shots and ppd skin tests. This hospital really focuses on customer service and striving to provide the best patient care and a great experience for the patient and their family.
I've learned that management has our back and wants to do whatever it takes for this new unit to be a success.
I've met a lot of new people, but I have formed a lot of new bonds with some very intelligent and experienced nurses. We all are excited about this new adventure.
The hardest part of our job right now is being in class after class and The most enjoyable part of our job is all the new information that we are getting exposed to and being apart of history. We are learning patience and teamwork/team building.

Me being loyal...loving the patients...encouraging to the clients..having empathy...staying determined...focusing on helping people as needed...me staying humble and committed..maintaining a positive attitude through it all

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part about working there would be management,  it starts from the head down...you should be able to set the example...too, much favoritism...not enough people being held accountable for their policy breaking 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Bias....they don't allow you to maintain your spiritual beliefs...what they do for others they might not do for you and you're the one committed...to much gossip...and everyone wanna know your business and will spread personal information only ur supervisor should know.. hectic 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Pay check to paycheck...I've learned the more you do..the more they want you to..never acknowledge for doing an outstanding job or going beyond your duties...never show appreciation towards you only if you are a favorite...if you stand up for what's right you're the bad person

I LOVE PT CARE. WE WOULD GO TO ALL CODES,RAPID RESPONCE'S. DAY STARTED AT 6:30 AND ENDED AT  7:15. WOULD ARRIVE AND GET REPORT WRITE DOWN THE ASSIGNMENT FOR THE DAY GET ON THE FLOOR BY 7:15AM. I WOULD WORK IN ICU, GIVE TX'S ON THE FLOOR OR WORK IN THE ER WITH A SMALL FLOOR ASSIGNMENT. STAYED WITH THE PT DURNING THE THERAPY AND ANSWER QUESTIONS OR EDUCATE THE PT AND FAMILY. CHECKED CHARTS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. CHECK AND MAKE SURE THE OTHER THERAPIST WERE DOING OK OR NEEDED HELP. AS THE DAY WENT ON WE WOULD DO EQUIPMENT WHICH MEANT PUTTING IT TOGETHER STOCKING THE FLOORS WITH EQUPIMENT OR TANKS. CHECK XRAYS AND MAKE SURE WE WEERE DOING THE APPROPREATE CARE. SEE IF THERE WAS SOMEETHING THE PT NEEDED OR DIDN'T NEED ANYMORE. WHEN FAMILY GOT LOST SHOW THEM THE RIGHT AREA THEY NEEDED TO GO TO.  TTAKE PT'S TO CT IF ON VENTALATORS. WE CARRIED A BEEP AND CELL PHONE FOR CALLS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. IF CALLED DURNING LUNCH WOULD HAVE TO STOP EATING AND SEE ABOUT CALL. WHICH IS FINE WITH ME. GGIVE REPORT AT THE END OF THE DAY HAND OFF BEEPER AND PHONE RIGHT BEFOR WE LIVE SO OTHER SHIFT CAN WRITE DOWN THEIR ASSIGNMENT AS OTHER SHIFT DID FOR US.

A typical day at work consists of reports, meeting and assessing patients, assigning patients to nurses, assigning beds for patients, and charting. 

I have learned to delegate and rely on others more. I have learned that I can not complete every task.

Management can be better. I've had 4 different Unit Directors in 2 years. I know the work load for them is difficult, but at some point they need to take the time and listen to the employers.

My co-workers are fun and supportive. I love them and I will truly miss them when I leave St. Francis.

The hardest part of the job is maintaining the care of 7 patients, charge, and be the resource person for other staff. Most of the staff I work with are new nurses and they need a lot of support. Support I feel I can not 100% give because of my patient load. I manage to be there for them.

The most enjoyable part of the job is the patient care. The patients is what keeps the smile on my face.

Zero accountability; poor leadership;  lack of professionalism/respect among staff; policies are loosly followed, conveniently upheld/ignored; nepotism; all make for a toxic culture

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Some toxic and bullying staff members make life difficult for others with no repercussions. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Distracting; drama from poor staff interpersonal relationships take the stage; unbalanced/inequitable treatment is the root cause of the drama; some get great assignments, learning opportunities and schedules while others get terrible assignments and schedules impacting paychecks when cheated out of differentials or cheated out of learning opportunities or worse cheated out of personal time.

Typical work day for me is very busy and fast paste, high phone volume to make sure all units are adequately staffed to maintain care for number of patients per unit. In my years with this company I have learned time management, critical thinking, numerous coping skills and conflict resolution. Work hand and hand with management, learn to compromise daily. My co-workers are the greatest people in the industry, always willing to go above and beyond. The most enjoyable part of my job is that I get to help people, co-workers and patients. I manage 2 transporters that travel city to city when we discharge patients, this is a service that has helped many patients go from treatment to treatment that otherwise would not be able to afford to do so.

The company is good. The patients can be lovely but watch ur back.  You may think the co workers are your friends but when you are gone they talk about you and report you for the same thing they did. Management stick together very well and they never side with you even when they know you are right. Disrespect amongst co workers is very high. Black employees have a target the first time you stand up for yourself. If you are better at the job then someone who has been there longer, you are targeted more. Watch what you say at all times. Its best you stay away from the group and not speak much.  I would not recommend St. Francis to any person I consider a friend. Nobody should be subjected to that kind of emotional abuse.

I loved working at St. Francis.
The Nurses let you know how they liked things.
They had an 'Almost' Hour by Hour routine, so there was no "Not having anything to do"
The Charge nurse would let you know if something was wrong, and if there 'were' a problem with someone, they took both people aside to settle the issues. the thing is I learned my Nurses and my Doctors and I knew which way to everything to their liking to best serve my patients.
This wasn't just a 'Passing Phase' job, We all knew that these were the careers we wanted and most likely going to working together for a long time, so we all worked together to make it a "Great" environment.

A typical day at St. Francis as a nursing aid began with taking vital signs of each patient.  Then I would go and assist them with bathing or whatever they may need. At lunch vitals would have to be taken again and again at dinner.  Throughout the day I would have to make sure the patients are comfortable and assist them with anything they may need.  I enjoyed working with the doctors and nurses.  The hardest part of the job was a patient that was in too much pain and I could not help.  The most enjoyable thing about it was being able to help the patients when they needed it the most. It was very rewarding.
