I worked in the rad department for a few months, and my experiences were overall very poor. The management was not even the appropriate title to run the department; he was a production/budget supervisor. This is not an actual department manager who understands the key roles of the job title I held during my time spent at ST. Francis. The main issue with hospitals today is that employers expect way too much from new hires who are new to the field and do not give them any chances to grow and succeed. It is sad and quite appalling to see the healthcare system crumble when it comes to hospitals hiring set staff. I felt as though I was used my short time served, and my hard work and skills were unnoticed.
Most importantly to say, their department had their only one full timer hired constantly harass me with phone calls on my days off regarding what she felt I did wrong the previous night/weekends I worked/on-call. I would feel great about my work and accomplished prior to these calls the next morning waking me up from sleep after a hard night stating otherwise. The training was inadequate, and my manager did not even reply to my phone call regarding my training start date. I had to phone the department. 

Generally, I feel I worked very hard within the little time I was given to work for this employer to supply only but the most optimal patient care I knew I provided to my patients. It seems the harder that you work and the more time you put into your work the less you are appreciated by management. The department is clearly inadequately staffed and have little to no funds to supply an extra employee as well as the entire department and its machinery.   I feel as though I functioned very well at St. Francis and did what I was supposed to do. I just want to work and do my job to the best of my capability without any drama from set staff. The experiences I had at this place were sad and shameful for someone new to the field. The overall actions of the co-workers and consistent phone calls from one in particular on my days were clearly highly unprofessional. Overall, if you want to get a chance to see yourself shine in your career no matter what field you chose in health care, try seeking other institutions that may be more apt to give the new and younger generation an opportunity to excel.

Work-life balance at St. Francis Medical Center St Francis is a dangerous place to work I will not refer anyone I love to that hospital.it is not safe place you can risk your license in that place.

My pay and benefits at St. Francis Medical Center are the pay was not good and they are always short staff.

● Job security and advancement
In terms of job security at St. Francis Medical Center, I think no job security, they are always short staff. They make you work like a dog and when something happen they blame it on you. They will not try to find out the root cause of the problem they manager will go far as reporting you to the board trying to cover up herself thereby making you look bad or incompetent before they board. Honestly I regretted ever working in that hospital and will never in my life refer anyone I know to work in that hospital.

In general, managers at St. Francis Medical Center. The manager is not supportive of you because they are always using a travelers as there manager most of them doesn’t have experience as a manager. They just after protecting themselves. They never had a steady for a six months straight.

● Culture
Collaboration with my colleagues at St. Francis Medical Center is always busy no one cares whether the unit is well staff to provide excellent nursing care.They assign you patient more than your ratio.

● Overall
My experience working at St. Francis Medical Center it was a horrible experience they maltreated because they knew I didn’t know my rights as at then.They always given me the worst assignment. They play favoritisms, the white charge nurse favors her friends when she is charge, when the black charge nurse she also favors her own so as the Filipino mafians, and I will be left out because I’m a minority no body protect me.

busy day, always fully attention to all patients monitors to keep patient's safety all the times.  Actively working as a team in our unit area, stressful but we handled good. Being a positive attitudes brings your works easy no matter how hard it is but at the end of the day everything is well.  Working in an hospital is not a game you have to be more efficient and focus that's what i have learned to my everyday duty. It is tiring but exciting because every single day of your works you always learned something to your team group. Different culture environment wont matters if you know how to handle situations and know them better, being friendly gives positive vibes to everyone. 

The hardest part of the job when your group have all different opinions that wont meet the solution of the problem, but when you set up a meetings to discuss each opinion and have study and vote for the results will end up to better understanding and solution for the problems. And one more that I consider hardest part of the job is when you're given extra assignment that you need to finish at the end of the day while you are on busy time pressure.  Its not easy to do multi task job if you don't have system and not organized.  But if you have system and you are well organized and have a fast thinking solution to your assignment everything will be easy for you to do.

The most enjoyable part of the job is that when you accomplished all your assignment and given you some kind of appreciation for the job well done.

I would arrive to work at 9am and get the midnight census,and the  troponin report. I would review all admission from the prior day and insure that all the necessary labs were ordered and the patient was on the right medications and echos were ordered for chf patients. Any testing medications or if echos were not ordered would notify nursing to request the additional testing,medications and echos. If the doctor didnt order the additional testing, medication or echos to ensure there was a documented reason for not ordering. Would review all core measure (ami, chf) discharges to ensure that all testing was done or scheduled to done has an outpatient and that the patient was discharge on the proper medications.  I learned this position from the ground up and improved it. The management is very supportive and available to assist me if needed. My coworkers were very friendly and helped me if I needed. I would also be a resource person my coworkers. The hardest part was earning the respect of the medical staff and the nursing staff but once that was done I enjoyed watching them became more compliant with the CMS guidelines and became independent of my supervision. I remained available to them if they needed me. I also enjoyed having St Francis improve from 90 to 100 in ami and chf.

The company is volatile. Certain people in upper-level and executive management are allowed way too much power and ruin the company and culture for everyone else. The hospital has suffered a lot in the past decade or so, which has eroded most of its potential. Too much change, poor management and a complete lack of strategy have left the hospital in shambles. 
On top of that many older staff members are simply allowed to be employed, get a paycheck and do basically nothing to earn it, mainly if they are well-liked by certain executive management. Meanwhile, younger/newer employees can be picked on and abused regardless of how much they work with no consequence. It is an old hospital that is very stuck in its ways, with no ability to progress due to a high number of older and long-term employees who don't want to see things change. 
There are some wonderful people at the hospital; however, there are also so pretty terrible people. I can't in good conscience recommend anyone take a position given the continually changing environment and poor management. There are a lot of hospitals in the general area, and it would be best to work for them.

I started at St. Francis as a New Grad in the ICU where the residency program and its outline were not upheld in a respectable way. New Grads including myself were pushed out of orientation early to satisfy increasing patient ratios during COVID. Educators did not listen to our concerns in regards to how unwanted we were made to feel by senior nurses who made it clear they did not want to teach new grads. Preceptors were different everyday, which in turn ultimately hindered the new grad in their learning experience especially since the hospital does not have standards of care implemented in the practice. If you're young, vocal about right and wrong, and strong assignments will be given to you that are unsafe and frankly dangerous. Patient safety is continually compromised by charge nurses not appropriately assessing the acuity of patient assignments, breaker nurses who do not closely monitor the patients of the nurse they are breaking, and the lack of support from nurses with less critical patients who do not offer help to prevent a bad outcomes. Overall this is the worst hospital I've ever worked at. It compromises my ethical and core values. 

A typical day a work for me is coming in, getting report from the previous shift and iumping in wherever I'm needed. I've learned sterile and non sterile compounding (love it) Management is not for the betterment of the TEAM. That's honestly the ONLY downfall. They don't appreciate all the hard work that's being done, but ALWAYS accentuates the negative. What could have been done differentlv. Not ever CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.... iust criticism. That is the hardest part of the job. The best part is how EVERYONE (Pharmacists. Techs and interns) ALWAYS stick together and we have each other's back. Everyone is ALWAYS willing to help, answer questions, teach, show someone something and are not ever too busy to say no I can't, I'm busy or I don't have time. I absolutely love that and my pharmily and myself.

For those looking for a place of employment I would highly recommend you look elsewhere. The staffing cuts over the last 2 years are absolutely unacceptable— educators, social workers, CNAs, lactation consultants, phlebotomists, etc. One week after one of the rounds of layoffs they announced they were so excited for the Centura light saber giveaway at the Switchbacks game. Imagine hearing this announcement a week after you have been laid off.  They also give copious amounts of money to the Broncos, Air Force Football, etc. Maybe the layoffs were due to a poorly allocated marketing budget or perhaps due to funding a fancy new hospital on Interquest that now sits unstaffed and unused. One month after giving a Covid retention bonus (complete with a 2 year contract) they completely changed the staffing grids, often making for unsafe patient ratios. Many nurses left despite the contracts and now those units are staffed by travel nurses. On the weekends if your patient needs an ECHO or Cath Lab— good luck trying to get them proper care.

As far as working in the main OR goes, there is a lot of teamwork and you learn quite a bit about all different types of surgery. However, a lot of the staff and previous staff feels like the management and overseers of the OR have no OR experience and tend to micromanage the staff when hey have very little idea what they are doing. The place would be an absolutely fantastic place to work and the turnover rate would be significantly lower if management didn’t run their staff ragged constantly and would actually put effort in to support their good employees. Like I said, excellent OR experience and it can be very fast paced due to some busy days having 70-80 surgical cases scheduled during the day, but horrible management that takes advantage of its staff. You have been warned.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I liked the Accounting work I was responsible to complete on a monthly basis. I worked with a good team. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
shorthanded staff put more stress & anxiety on the staff to meet the dead lines of various work responsibilities 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
a Good work environment & we all got along as we all knew the deadline dates to complete the required work even though the Finance staff was shorthanded. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy We all had a routine of what needed to be completed in a timely basis but we also understand other work may come up & did come up that would take us off our daily work responsibilities
