Arrive atleast 15 mins before punch in, because if you are a minute late, you get a tardy, whether a minute or two hours. Medical issues, sorry bout your luck, no discounts for medical expenses, even though you put your entire being into this company. Want  clear answers to questions? Sorry about that too, you will get the run around for months. If you have a cold, don’t bother getting a doctor’s excuse even with a fever, you have to be here. This has changed with new HR. They don’t care about you, they care about the people giving them money. Have Medicaid? Sorry, you’ll wait longer if that’s your coverage. Had Medicaid then started to work for this company, sorry, your medical expenses will be more than you make. Whats the good news? Your peers are very nice, and they get picked on as much as you do. The only job worth having here is above my pay grade. Have cancer? Sorry about your bad luck, have dental surgery that’s emergent? Sorry. This is a healthcare facility. That’s ok, soon they will be fighting for a place, we have new and better Er’s moving in and Amazon is now getting ready for healthcare expansion and very low cost premiums. 

We work short ALL THE TIME. It's not even safe much of the time. We are constantly given more responsibilities-- taking care of the critically ill of the hospital, responding to codes, rapid responses, STEMI alerts, stroke alerts, and now traumas. We have been given no compensation for any of this. Lakeview, the Heart, and even North Oaks all pay better. There is no value placed on employees or even the safety of the patients for that matter. It is all about the money!! They will expect you to take an unsafe assignment and never do anything to get help in to staff. They refuse to use agency or pay extra to their own nurses to staff the place. If management doesn't like you they will make your life miserable and retaliate against you if you speak up by changing your schedule or giving you bad assignments. There is no communication from the manager. You never see administration. So many unethical things at this hospital. It's really sad because the nurses truly care about the patients and we want it to be better.

Work started at 0645am,   taking over from the night shift.  Working with a great group of nurses.  Main efforts is to Triage patient's into the proper level of care.  patient's re cared first by a Nurse Practitioner and moved up into the level if needed to a level 3 or level 3 depends on how ill the patient is.    then moved into a patient room.  Patient's then are evaluated,  Labs are drawn if needed, urine collected.  Basic labs are began depending on a pre printed patient  order list for most illnessess.  This way we can start possible medications when they are evaluated by the physicians.  To decrease the patient' s stay in the hospital.   moving on to ekg if needed.  Possible Heart attack and stroks go straighty to the back into trama rooms.  These patient are on a timer and have to be treated and assessed by a physician with in  15 min. of  arrival to the emergency room.  I would go back to this emergency room if i moved back to that area.

My day would start off at 7:30 exactly because if you clock in a minute early or a minute late you will get a 'pun' and after 7 puns you are subject to dismissal. I would then begin clear claim that were in the billing work queues. The workflow processes for these edits were very confusing. If you asked the team lead questions you would not get a clear answer. Billers were expected to add or remove modifiers and update CPT codes. You receive a 30 minute lunch break. Because of lack of parking, if you leave during lunch you want to make sure you get back in time to either find a parking space or park a street away and walk back. After lunch I would do coding for PB claims. Most of my co-workers were friendly and easy to get along with. I found upper management harsh and unbending.Some people were allowed to break the rules and some were not. It was really a rather confusing place to work. Nobody really seemed to understand why they were doing what they were doing.  I would not recommend working here unless it was just temporary.

While the experience gave me strong patient care skills, the nurse tech position at this hospital was not what many of us were led to believe. It was advertised as a stepping stone into nursing, offering clinical exposure and hands-on training — but in reality, techs were treated as CNAs, paid less than CNAs in some cases, and routinely floated first when staffing was short. Many new hires were frustrated and felt misled once they realized the scope of the job didn’t match what was promised.

Management was inconsistent — some supportive, but overall communication was lacking. Repeated concerns about pay, job duties, and lack of advancement were rarely addressed. Morale has dropped significantly, and turnover has increased, with many techs and nurses (myself included) applying elsewhere. The only consistently positive part of the job was caring for patients, but even that became harder due to burnout and lack of support.

Parking availability for employees is not the best. More importantly the employees have not been fairly compensated during the last two years with the pandemic. Within  the last few months, multiple employees have left for contract jobs or other hospitals with competitive pay. This unfortunately has left us extremely under staffed and current employees are over worked. House keeping department is a disaster and non existent and it causes delays in turning over rooms. Many processes are ancient and it’s clear that medical staffing  refuse change to improve patient flow. An entire addition was made to the hospital and it only added 10 beds in the hospital. The health insurance offered for the hospital is terrible. The pension plan is the best thing about this place. 

I was only here for a couple days as a new Phlebotomist. I had heard great things about this hospital and I have always come here for my medical needs. The head of the department seemed very nice, then I worked full days at the out patient clinic and my trainer was anything but supportive. She had nothing but  negative things to say about the hospital. She basically made me terrified to work there. Her and the other trainer were looking for other jobs while training me and were warning me about how bad the pay is compared to other places and about how it is impossible to advance. I was hired on as Part-time but was told I was expected to work Full-time hours without full-time pay and benefits.

What is the best part of working at the company?
It's close to my house.  The senior leadership is so incompetent that you spend more time waiting for answers then you do actually working. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Incompetent leadership.  Place runs entirely on what feels right rather than what is the most logical course of action.  Extremely clique based workplace.  If you aren't in the club you're just a drone to do the clubs bidding.

Clique based culture where everyone in leadership is out to cover their butt and pat themselves on the back.

Job duties were awesome even after the electronic medical record merge was implemented. Was a great place to work with great moral when I started in 201 and a great benefit package. Due to excessive shifts/hourly schedule cuts for FT employees, as well as PT/PRN, without pay raises moral/staff sank to low levels. Higher turnover due to favoritism, lack of protection from retaliation by most managers at various levels & departments, corrupt/gossipy HR department, constant expansions without hiring staff, & poor advancement opportunities have left many employees searching for greener pastures in the job market. I honestly would not recommend this organization to work for.
