I love the people I get to work with, but it seems like management is decently out of touch and sees people as walking $ signs, rather than actual human beings. And I understand, this is a business and we need to make money to pay people (even though the pay isn't the best to begin with, but that's a different issue). However, the idea that 'if they wanted to, they could come up with the money' is something that runs the firm and is used to justify people not retaining the firm. While I understand this, I also feel this is just out of touch with personal issues clients are going through when it comes to their own finances. 

There is little room to critique management at the firm. It's a revolving door with many jobs, the turnover rate is high with attorneys and other jobs like HR. If you aren't in the inner circle of the top dogs, then your complaints and explanations as to your performance seem to simply fall on deaf ears. I have never felt appreciated in my roll by the higher ups, but I have felt incredibly supported by my other coworkers, my supervisor, and the people I interact with in the office. However, management seems to think that no matter what we do, nothing will ever be good enough for them. There's always something, and it's always our fault the clients aren't setting appointments. Again, this seems to dehumanize the clients (and the people in my position), and creates not the best work environment.

The starting pay isn't the best, and they don't like letting more than one person go full time. Even with the full time raise, it isn't a lot, and many of us feel we are scraping by to pay the bills with the wage (it's something that has also been sensed by other employees in other departments - that the pay is a joke). To put it bluntly, the Intake department doesn't get paid enough for the stuff we have to deal with, as well as the work load expected of us. They have told us to 'prove' that we deserve to be paid more in the past, but no matter what we do, nothing will ever be enough.

Overall, I love my coworkers and those around me. I just feel management is out of touch with those below them, dismissing concerns and like even directors can't express their concerns without getting shut down with some superimposed response. I love getting to help people and help them get the legal services they need, but like many of the other reviews say, there are some issues that need work here that have been going on for what seems like years, and it seems like nothing is going to change any time soon.

I was excited to start this job as a legal assistant, but unfortunately the experience did not meet expectations. On my first day, I was informed that I would also be the receptionist, which was never mentioned during the interview process. There was also no training provided. My first day consisted of watching outdated training videos in a room alone for hours with no real guidance.
The billing requirements are extremely difficult to meet. Although bonuses are discussed during the interview process, they are impossible to achieve because there is not enough work provided to meet the billing expectations. Despite this, employees are required to attend multiple Zoom meetings each week to discuss why billing requirements are not being met.
The hiring process also feels very disconnected. You interview twice over Zoom and never meet anyone from your office until your first day. Once you start, it quickly becomes clear that there is very little structure in how the office operates. Many of the attorneys do not seem familiar with the office’s procedures, which creates confusion and inconsistency in daily work.
There is a noticeable lack of leadership and mentorship. Instead of guidance or support, the primary focus appears to be on billing and generating revenue for the firm. Overall, the environment lacks organization, structure, and the leadership necessary for employees to succeed.

I have been with Stange Law Firm, P.C. for over two years and it is by far (in my 10 years of experience) an excellent place to work.  Management is very fair in how they treat people and supportative of the employees.  You can always count on them to have your back.

Compensation is excellent, if you work hard you are very well compensated.  Benefits are AMAZING.  I do not know of any other place where benefits are flat our paid for by the employer including health insurance, dental insurance, CLEs, life insurance, cell phone, the list goes on.

Work life balance is excellent.  Billable hour requirement is extremely reasonable.  

Advancement is always possible, they create positions for people regularly by way of promotion.  Like any other place, you show them you are dedicated and that you work hard you will be rewarded.  They even go out of their way to provide awards to people quarterly for outstanding work.  I do not know of another law firm that takes the time to recognize the hard work of the employees.

I have enjoyed working for Stange and hope to be here a long time.  If you work hard and show that you have the interest of the firm at heart, they will have your interest at heart.  

Firm is run by a family and they actually value family and employees.  It is a great feeling to go to work everyday and know you are part of something bigger than yourself, that you can make a difference and that your boss has your back.  Opportunity for growth is excellent.

My time at Stange Law Firm was very rewarding.  From the time I started until I moved away - everyday gave a new learning experience, challenge and opportunity!

Some people think oh, Family Law, that is easy...not so much, every case is different, every situation is unique, and the laws change.  My work as a Paralegal challenged me daily, made me strive to be the best I could be, do the best for each client and be a reflection of the Stange Law Firm, LLC.  I was rewarded for the hard work.  I worked hard, laughed harder (when appropriate) and enjoyed the family style atmosphere.  I had a great rapport with the owners, management, attorneys and support staff.  

When clarification with a case, an assignment and/or policy/procedure was needed - you were given that opportunity.  I found working for the Stanges' to be a wonderful experience, I gained more experience in Family Law because of this firm and the attorneys I worked for. 

If I came back to the St. Louis area, I would seek employment with Stange Law Firm, LLC again.  This is a 1st class firm with top notch attorneys and they strive to give every client the best possible outcome.

I started working at Stange Law Firm and really enjoyed it. At first. It was my first legal job and the work I was given kept me busy and the days flew by. Unfortunately the attorney's who gave me work to do eventually moved on to different offices so they left me with 2 attorney's who relied on a seasoned paralegal to do their work which left me with no work. They expect you to be billing 30+ hours a week. This is Unrealistic especially when your employers refuse to give you work. The Overland Park office in Kansas is really unprofessional. In a month they cycled through 3 different attorney's. This concerned many clients and caused many cases to be stalled for long periods of time and caused many to be upset. Stange is focused on growth and not on quality.  My least enjoyable part about the job was that I got fired because they couldn't afford to pay me. Avoid Family Law especially Stange Law Firm.

A typical work day is ever-changing in our practice. Each day presents new facts, new objectives, new people, new tasks. No boredom or routine, here.

Every attorney and paralegal/legal assistant is encouraged and expected to be proactive and involved in every facet of their case load. Great latitude provided to learn, advance, obtain mentoring and supportive team work in all positions, including administrative. 

Benefits are exceptional for the industry and for employers, generally, including incentivization.

Management is accessible and actively involved in assisting in employee development. This is not an environment for those who prefer to be completely autonomous without structure, however.

I have been with the firm for three years and have advanced in position and responsibility. In those years, the firm has continued to improve employee benefits and responsiveness to employee and client needs. Healthy competition and cooperation are equally valued. I have worked with a sufficient number of employers for significant lengths of time over 30 years of employment history and 19 years of legal employment history to determine that I have no intention or desire to work for any other employer.

I personally have found Stange Law Firm to be a great place to work.  The environment is always professional and friendly.  It has grown to include seven offices now and I can see why.  They focus exclusively on family law and offer high quality legal representation.  

They are honest and ethical and compensate their employees for their hard work.  The partners are great to work for and very personable.  They are interested in finding employees for the long term--employees who are looking for a career. They offer great training and will always work with you if you need assistance.  

Everyone who works there is highly qualified and well respected in the legal community.  I have found Stange Law Firm to be highly respected with the Judges.  

The managing partners truly care about their employees.  They have a firm meeting at the end of each month and give out awards for good performance.  They also buy lunch for everyone before firm topics are discussed.  Everyone works together and no one is left in the dark on anything.  

Overall, Stange Law Firm is a great place to work.  It's the best job I've ever had.

I worked her previously in the role and did a pretty good job. I was even awarded for my performance. I returned to the company almost two years later with much more experience and well versed in the field. Since I left the role, there were three people in it. This should have been a red flag, but I wanted to return to help out the company that gave me my start in the field while in college. I was overworked, talked to very rudely, and not respected. I worked long hours...even closed the office every night, and stayed loyal to the company to get positions filled despite not having a work life balance. I was committed and did not receive the same courtesy in return. The turnover is extremely high for a reason. If management doesn’t change, employees will continue to leave without notice. This is not a good company to stay at... eventually you will get your share of disrespect. Coming in to work everyday is like walking on pins and needles. You never know what to expect, or what mood management is in. 

If you don’t have experience in the legal field, steer clear. The recruiter told me that I would be shadowing another legal assistant in order to learn. That never happened. I watched a couple of hours of videos and got moved to the front desk and started answering phones on my first day. 

From the first week on management will be all over you about billable hours. Understandable, it’s the nature of the field. But there’s no ramp-up period for new hires and you’re expected to bill at least 32 hours weekly. I got less than half of that my first week (despite not being given enough assignments) and got multiple emails from multiple people about it. 

Overall it didn’t feel like a place where I could ask questions. I was honest about my lack of experience in my interview and feel like the recruiter was less than honest about the job and the training that would be provided. 

If you’re an experienced paralegal who can hit your billable hours you may enjoy it. The people were kind, the job just wasn’t what I was promised. 

The turnover is crazy high. From the day I started until my last day, approximately 1/3 of the attorneys were no longer working there. 
 
The rates they bill out to clients is insane and way too high. 
 
They will lie to you about the amount of work they have for you. I was told they had tons of work for me, which turned out to be true. You will not meet your billable hour requirements. 
 
Their bonus is next to impossible to obtain. You must meet your billable hours AND collect from your clients to get the bonus. 
 
They do not reimburse for mileage unless the client has money in their trust account. 
 
They micromanage like none other. My supervisor literally timed my lunch break one day.
 
The benefits are horrible. The insurance is awful. They only give you 7 days of vacation your first year.
 
This firm will waste your time and will be bad for your career. Do not work here under any circumstances.
