A typical day here starts early and holds a lot of enjoyment and challenges if you’re willing to take them on. Management works very hard to accommodate the ups and downs in the lives of their employees. The phlebotomy/lab staff are very kind and welcoming & willing to teach new skills to those who want to learn. If you show up on time, treat others with respect, have a drive to learn new things, offer solutions to problems & communicate effectively you will do just fine here. In the 4.5 years I’ve been in this business I’ve never advanced so quickly, had as much faith/trust placed in me as they have placed, or have been so relied on by others. You have a chance to actually effect some sort of change if you’re willing to put in the effort to do so. Every company, job, management staff, and team has their issues, however, you will not find a crew more cohesive than this, even in our low moments. Management is understanding and accommodating of reasonable requests and life issues and listens to its employees. I’ve learned quite a lot working here. I’ve been here approximately 10 months and at my request & the suggestion of others I’ve learned & done nearly every aspect of the phlebotomy and specimen processing workflow. Including drawing blood, problem log troubleshooting  Pap smear aliquots, test conversion, interpersonal conflict resolution, etc. There really isn’t a “hardest” part of this job. If you care for patients, work well alone and with a team, and genuinely want to be a part of a team who will have your back you’ll do just fine. The most enjoyable part of this job is that if you want to learn something new, and have proven yourself capable, reliable and respectful towards patients, fellow employees and management you will learn it. You also get the satisfaction of contributing to a small part of a patients healthcare experience that, if done well, will have them coming back with a smile on their face. I’ve worked every aspect of the lab: phlebotomy, processing, cytology, microbiology, and histology in both inpatient and outpatient settings and this company and its people has shown me time and time again that if you do your part, you will be taken care of. I am very happy here.

Manager wants employees to do the job of 3 people and take on extra responsibilities for no raise, even if multiple providers fight to get you one. You feel you have to record conversations wih her with how many lies she's been caught in. Multiple times she has gone to employees saying another employee stated something negative about them that was never said. She tells employees about other employees' extremely personal business. Runs many offices so you barely see her and she's never there when you need her. Don't let her know your office has an issue because then she won't come in at all. When she is in, she's on the phone the whole time. You feel you can't go to HR because nothing productive will happen and this manager is known to lash out and find every way to make your work day miserable which has been told to HR manager. She is very spiteful and knows that HR won't do a thing about it. Her offices' employee turnover is insane and I believe everyone has told their truths in exit interviews but she's still running 4+ offices and is trying to get a hold of more. Not only is she this way to the MAs and PSRs but I have watched her single out and make one doctor in particular's days miserable as well. Starling as a whole only cares about their money and reputation, NOT employees. During a legal and documented meeting, HR manager called me the wrong name multiple times, realized it and continued to call me the wrong name and stated facts about that person and not me. 

Employees are treated poorly, the benefits are horrible!If you’re out sick, you have to use your pto- no pto = no pay. The pay is horrible! Managers and the higher-ups give management positions to friends/relatives w/no experience! Employees look burnt out and down; it’s depressing! This is a healthcare company who literally make their employees physically/mentally sick! The one positive thing I can honestly say is that I’m grateful to have a job.  I’m out of this horrible environment as soon as I can! We are pretty much forced to demand payment from patients who cannot afford to pay while some “preferred patients-ie some higher-ups” have their balances completely adjusted off.

Enjoyed working with the patients. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Lack of respect the provider gives. The constant gossiping throughout the office. The management doesn’t seem to care. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not good.  Lack of work ethic and team work 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Answering multiple calls, scheduling patients, ordering tests, obtaining prior authorizations, scheduling surgeries, and tending to physicians, typical multiple tasking duties of a patient service representative .

I wish I never worked here. I respectfully gave this horrible company my two weeks notice and they charge me 600 dollars on my last check for health insurance that I specifically told them I didn't need. Why the fact that you think it's OK to take my hard earned money for some insurance that I told your money hungry company thar I didn't need. And SPECIFICALLY TOLD YOU I DIDNT NEED BUT CHARGED ME ANYWAYS AFTER I TOLD YOU I DIDNT NEED IT AND TELL ME THERES NOTHING YOU CAN DO!! NEVER RECOMMEND WORKING HERE. you get overworked with thier minimum pay. And nevermind asking for help because they just want your money for your insurance when I don't need it. Don't bother asking corporate to help you. They are just as useless. 

As a patient service representative I had decent training and learned a lot on the job.  I enjoyed the fast-paced office but they were terribly understaffed and although they acknowledged it, they didn't address it.  Office staff was really getting burned out.  I left before things got to that point, but don't think I would have made it past a year.  Too bad, because the people I worked with were great and I enjoyed the work - there was just too much to do every day for anyone to feel successful.  They won't be able to keep good workers until they fix the staffing problem.

Was employed for a year, without issue, when I had the opportunity for advancement. I received the position, but when I got home from orientation training, after only three days, I was sent an email that I was fired. Had a case pending in court, that I fully disclosed about when I was hired, but they claimed I didn’t, and said I misrepresented my self. Going out of your way for this company means nothing to them. Also, many employees, with close to or more than, 30 years  of service, and are about to retire, are suddenly being fired, for no reason. Company claims they have great retirement packages, but doesn’t let employees reach that goal.

Starling Physicians is a great beginner job for the industry. You will be  working with a great group of co-workers on a variety of specialties with an emphasis on personal growth. Management is responsive to their employees and care about their job satisfaction. 

You will be underpaid for your work. It is no secret that Starling pays the lowest wages in the industry by roughly five dollars an hour, and there will be no point where you will catch up to the proper market rate for the work you do.

When I interviewed I was sold on a flexible schedule accommodating for moms and students. It was perfect since I was both. As soon as I started, they wanted set hours, and we had to report for anything and everything. The workers there were like cliques in high school. I was told to “tone down my behavior” and give it to them in “micro doses” because I’d walk in smiling saying good morning. The manager sided with certain staff. There’s favoritism, and so much. I left with no notice, texted and left how bad it was. I wouldn’t recommend for anyone. 

A typical day consisted of data entry as well as making presentations to present to my supervisor.
I learned a lot, not only from my supervisor, but the other women working there as well. I learned a lot about Microsoft Excel, I learned about data entry, medical terminology, medical insurance, and Quality Care Management. 
Everyone was so nice there and they were all willing to teach me what they've learned through the years. They were people that wanted to see me excel in what I end up doing and they were very uplifting.
