Head Start was my first professional job out of college.  As a home visitor I worked closely with parents to help them learn how to teach and prepare their preschooler for kindergarten.  Once a week I would visit the homes of 12 families.  Each visit was one and half hours in duration. The parent and I would discuss goals, activities assigned from the previous week, and concerns. A lesson plan was implemented that the parent and home visitor worked on together to specifically address the needs of that child. 

Once a week all 12 families were encouraged to participate in a "family day" to build on socialization skills necessary for kindergarten.

The most enjoyable part of this job was the children. Each one I met taught me something new which made my days rich and exciting. The most challenging part was saying goodbye. I built strong relationships with all of my families and worked so closely with them. It was never easy parting with people I spent so much time with. 

STEP has been a good place to get consistent pay checks. They offer high hourly, and good benefits. You’re usually working out of town, and not Colorado (unable to get work in CO). You have a scheduled of 20 on 10 off (no paid days off, paid travel, no wash service) but because of travel, especially to North Dakota, you’re really working 22 & 8, plus you’re traveling home, so only 6 days off to enjoy. They skimp you on prediem out of town, hard to move up, they have the good buddy system. Management keeps to whole service center busy, but no good values, employee kick backs, you are a hand with not much applicable value. Hard to keep hands, other companies value their employees more (pay more with paid days off and travel) , give direction and sense of comradery. If you like working non stop, no sense of value for yourself and little personal life, STEP is a good fit. 

During my tenure at StEp (the formatting is intentional), I had the opportunity to witness the comings and goings of various management personnel and professionals. The company culture fostered a positive work environment when we had the right combination of individuals, although there were both positive and negative experiences.

Overall, I do not have any significant complaints. As with any business, there were challenges and difficulties. In my opinion, StEp falls somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Based on my experience, it may seem counterintuitive, but in this industry, average performance is significantly better than most.

typical day at work would be in the oilfield working on a pumping truck with coil or on pumpdowns or brazer jets sanding etc 

learned how to run a pump and to drive efficiently on a offroad highway 
management never had problems I follow orders and accelerate as needed.. 

coworkers or fun to be around with and everybody helps everybody and works together 

hardest part of the job would be rigging in due to the technical thinking and hammering the wings. 

Seeing the different people and doing different things everyday. 
and learning as we go is what is awesome about this company.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Not a stable place to work. Most of the workers are not safe I what they do. Poor attitude. Supervisors are not experienced in the role they are in 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Bad attitude. You never know when or if you have a job from day to day. No one takes accountability for what they do. Very dishonest people working there. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Not very stable. No stability. Poor management. Poor supervision. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Not very good. No one take responsibility for what they do.  Not a very safe environment to work at

Truly a great company that I am blessed to be a part of. The leadership/management here in ND in the Bakken is top tier. Truly leading by example, we are given everything we need to be successful, good pay and benefits, great equipment and ppe, the people here love their jobs and are like a big family. We have company housing and they have already invested in me and my future with the company. We do extremely professional high quality work for our valued clients and have fun while doing so and making sure everyone goes home safe! I am glad to be here and excited to see what the future holds!

great company great people, for the most part, to be honest isn't that every where.  fast paced if you good training you move up if you want if you don't they are than happy to leave you behind.  here you are truly the master of your employment destiny.  it's not for all but the few that do stick around we love it. unlike many companies this one is growing fast so alot of movement and is easy to get caught up or feel ignored but you have to take in stride.

The 14 days off and a good company to work for

The pumps was bad they were old and wouldn't hold up

It was good family orientated everyone seem to get along

Have our safety meeting go over what needs to be done say a prayer before we start working

It is the oilfield so it is what it is. Bad upper management always tell you one thing,then changes it to make employees look bad. Work is hard at times,but alot of sitting around doing nothing. So pretty easy actually.

Limited respect and opportunity for long time dedicated employees to advance.  Talent management is misaligned with skills and knowledge demonstrated by current workforce members.
