A typical day is always a terrible day at work... Workers are lazy. Call ins on a daily so always short on caregivers .Everyone passes the buck here. No accountability for poor performance, they just pressure the good workers to complete the job duties. Caregivers are forced to do dining services which takes away from the residents care. Residents have to wait until caregivers are finished cleaning up the dining room before they can push them back to their rooms. Food is slop with zero nutritional value. Cooks do not get to know the residents. Residents complained constantly about the food choices. On the menu weekly were hotdogs,pot pies,sloppy joes,sandwiches, an occasional spaghetti which would be served as lasagna the next day. You get more choices in prison,atleast they get chicken on occasion... This is the only assisted living facility where you have to clean up biohazard then go serve food. Dishes are hand washed by a dishes washer who also preps and serves up food. Never had cleaning supplies, gloves,trashbags. Everything fell on the caregivers who were always on their phones or hanging out loud talking with no regard to who might hear them...

I currently still work here, I do 12 hour shifts, 6-6am. The overall job can be tiring for those who aren’t used to moving around a lot and being on their feet for long periods of time. The night shift all gets along just great and we have a lot of fun working together. I enjoy working here, the environment is very welcoming and all of our residents are the sweetest and they appreciate everything we do for them. The nights do tend to get busy with assisting our residents. The job is basically your own pace unless you’re the med aid then you have to do things in a timely manner. The med class was also provided for free by the company so that’s nice. If you’re looking to potentially becoming a nurse one day. This is a great starter job, it gives you very great experience. You learn a lot from taking vitals to understanding the basic techniques and how to handle them. I feel that I’ve learned a lot from this job and do recommend giving it a try.

They bring you in telling you its a great place to work but if they need help on nights and your on days they will pester you and make you feel guilty until you switch then they promise you can move back and they never let you and your stuck on the same shift for a long time. If you get pregnant and your an aide or CMA they dont like it they say their happy but then they tell you that things can still happen with your pregnancy. But if your upper management or friends with upper management they get excited and they give you higher perks. If you bring a feiend to come work with you and some thing happens with your feiendship they fire one of you so they dont have to deal with stuff. The benefits suck. They dont offer room for promotion. I was there three years and had a pay raise once a girl that was there 6 month was making more than me and she was in house keeping.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The residents by far. They truly become your family.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Being understaffed, not feeling heard by management, having higher standards than the corporation. It was more about filling the rooms to make the company more money, rather than taking care of the residents concerns, which should be the number one priority.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Being so understaffed, burn out was something we really had to be careful of. However I have some co workers that I met there that I still consider friends. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Doing ADL’s for your section which usually consists of 18+ rooms. Showers, laundry, meal service, plus skilled nursing care.

I admit, when I first started here, I really loved the staff and residents. However, I soon realized that the staff are two faced.They will act like they are your best friend until you turn away, then they will talk about you behind your back. After an incident happened with a resident and nothing was done about it because they "don't remember what they did", I knew I was in the wrong place. It got to the point where I dreaded going to work for my safety and I knew no matter how much I would tell the administrator, nothing would get done. I just mentally nor physically could be there anymore.

You also don't get raises and new staff member are likely to be getting paid more than you.

Probably the worst place I've worked by far. Admin. is not the greatest the lady at Sioux Falls isn't very helpful when short handed and when RA's need help she is upstairs talking listening to radio, eating, sitting. ect. So the turnover rate isn't surprising at the Sioux Falls facility even the residents notice how bad it is which is kind of funny and pathetic that they have to go through trusting so many different workings coming and going. It should be looked into why the turnover is so bad. It is not always the CNA's fault, check out what the administration is doing wrong with how the treat their hard working employees.

I would not recommend working for this company nor recommend sending loved ones to live here.  The management is money hungry and happy to increase the price because a client needs more care.  Yet the extra care that the staff must provide does not get passed on to the care provider nor is extra employees staffed to accommodate the resident's needs.  The building does not have a generator, therefore if the power goes out, those residents on oxygen must rely on portable oxygen tanks for however long it takes to get the power back on.  This is not an employee's dream job and it is not a resident's dream location to live either.

Very unprofessional,  Management is horrible they lie to you and talk to you in a very unprofessional and disrespectful manner. Very underpaid for the work the employees do and just overall a unfair workplace. They don’t care for their employees and even less for their residents Corporate and management only care about money and draining the poor residents for any dollar they can get out of them. Including some residents that require more help then we can give at a assisted living but they refuse to let them go because they want their money. Horrible inhuman people. 

Through Stoneybrook the employees are what makes one want to quit, the residents are the reason someone would want to stay. The residents are absolutely incredible. On the other hand the work environment is horrendous. I have personally never worked in such a hostile environment before here. It states it is very flexible, which it is when you start but a couple months in they are not as flexible. Management is definitely friendly but to the naked eye they do not take action on those employees who are difficult and hurting the work environment. Through this there is a lot of drama and overall wonderful residents but hostile employee work environment. 

The work environment is often hostile. There is a pecking order among staff and they can be cruel and rude. Leadership turns their head and tells staff to " get along", instead of address the issues.
Compensation is poor. There are no scheduled reviews or raises. People are promised raises and do not see them.  Overtime is expected. Staffing is unpredictable. Rules apply to different people differently.
Residents observe staffing problems and often feel they cannot trust that their needs will be met. The bottom line is more about making money for the owners than providing residents with quality of life and excellent services.
