What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part about this facility this that the patient load isnt that bad.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The administration literally do not care about their workers. They have in-services and meetings geared towards change but nothing ever gets better. They would take on patients that were harmful to the staff and residents just for money. Not a second thought to the safety of their staff or residents. All they care about is money. They stopped paying registry so they couldnt even get extra help then would try to force staff into working 16hr shifts with little to no notice. Beware of this place and save yourself the stress.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It seems like theres always a few nurses that carry the entire building. I would spend the day doing my med pass and fixing whatever previous shifts didn't do. So much paperwork, but the DON will be at your computer rushing you because they don't want to pay overtime. Very stressful always glad to go home at the end of the day.

The work environment on the corporate side is extremely unhealthy. Upper management creates a culture of fear, micromanagement, and poor communication. Employees are constantly walking on eggshells, unsure of what might set leadership off. There’s a lack of support, transparency, and respect from those in charge, which makes it difficult to thrive or feel secure in your role.

Morale is low across the board, and turnover is high — which says a lot. Feedback isn’t welcomed, and decisions are often made without consideration for employee wellbeing or team input. It feels more like a power struggle than a workplace.

If you're considering working here, be aware of the toxic culture that starts at the top and trickles down. Upper management needs to take accountability and make serious changes if they want to retain good people and rebuild trust.

Meridan management destroyed multiple skilled nursing buildings so now the dad who runs sunmar is trying to clean up the mess but is keeping same management in place and continuing the subpar care and management of the acquired buildings.
Applewood and briarwood are the 2 Sacramento buildings.
They now seek a new regional after terming multiple regional nurses that they blamed these 2 facilities problems on.
If you apply and get hired expect to be fired in less than 6 months.
This is a family owned business taking over family owned business so people outside of the family are always blamed and the scapegoats while family is bailed out.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I worked with the best team ever.  Most of them still work there.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Dealing with the worst patient  family member in the world.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It was a great culture.  We did treats on Friday, potlucks each month, great parties for reaching goals.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Emails and voice mails first thing in the morning.  Then stand up meeting.  Follow by another business meeting.  Then rounds.  Lunch was followed by emails, work on projects more rounds.  Marketing meeting.  Then final rounds and emails.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The patients were fun to work with once you got to know their routine!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Felt like there was no support from management, not friendly and felt intimidating to talk to.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very cliquey, some workers would just sit and talk while you are running around.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It was tough and filled with anxiety because you didn’t know how short staffed it would be.

My time at sun mar was overall ok, I basically had to use my own systems learned from previous company because the support for housekeeping and laundry was basically non existent, I’de say if someone who doesn’t have relevant experience would work here they would definitely be clueless with no direction. That being said my previous experience definitely got me through a lot of obstacles.

Could not ask for better folks to work with.  Culture is great. Best COO in the business. Hardest part of the job is the travel to some of the buildings.  Best part of the job is working with the folks in the buildings, great people and very appreciative of your work.

Management consistently has horrible communication, which is the biggest downfall of this company.  Makes it very difficult to work as a "team" or do anything efficiently.  Saw a high staff turnover in my short time; unsurprising. 

Facilities are well cared for.  It was my first job and I have grown so much.  Workers there are very pleasant and helpful. There are different locations and that I have been to have been enjoyable.

Nothing to say about the company   It wasn’t a good fit for me.   Many changes on within the company.  Difficult to move in a direct path to success without getting tripped up
