What is the best part of working at the company?
One of the best parts of working on the MOU unit at Sunrise Hospital is the fast paced learning environment. You are exposed to a wide variety of patient conditions from post-op care to chronic illness management which really helps build strong clinical skills and confidence quickly. For new grads, it’s a great place to sharpen time management, prioritization, and critical thinking. Another highlight is the teamwork. Many nurses, CNAs, and support staff are willing to help each other out, especially during busy shifts. When the unit is functioning well, there’s a strong sense of collaboration that makes tough days more manageable. The hospital also offers opportunities to gain experience with different patient populations and develop independence. If you're motivated, you can grow quickly and become very comfortable handling a full patient load. That said, like many med-surg units, it can be very demanding. Patient ratios can be high, and shifts are often physically and mentally exhausting. Staffing challenges and high turnover can sometimes impact workflow and morale. Overall, the best part of working here is the experience and growth you gain in a short time. It’s a great stepping stone for nurses looking to build a strong foundation before moving into specialties or advanced practice roles.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of working on the med-surg unit is typically the high patient load combined with acuity. Nurses are often responsible for multiple patients with complex needs, which requires constant prioritization and can feel overwhelming during busy shifts. Another challenge is staffing variability. When the unit is short staffed, it increases the workload and can make it harder to provide the level of care you want for each patient. This can lead to physical exhaustion and mental fatigue over time. Additionally, the pace is consistently fast with frequent interruptions from admissions, discharges, call lights, provider orders, and unexpected changes in patient condition all happen at once. Balancing these demands while maintaining patient safety can be stressful, especially for newer nurses. Overall, the stress mainly comes from time pressure and responsibility, but it also builds strong resilience, prioritization skills, and clinical judgment.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The culture is fast paced and team oriented. It can be demanding, but there’s strong teamwork, and it’s a great environment for developing clinical skills and confidence.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day involves receiving report, managing multiple patients’ medications and assessments, assisting with daily care, handling admissions and discharges, and constantly prioritizing tasks while communicating with the care team. Fast paced but rewarding work.

When I first got hired at the Sunrise Hospital kitchen cafeteria for a back-of-house position, the hiring manager for that department seemed nice at first. It's a very long process. Cause you have to do a background and so on. 
The HR at the hospital was very nice. Even when you go to their orientation, it seems promising.  

I thought everything would of worked out. Unfortunately, I was so blind sided.  😔 
One red flag, doing the orientation, each department that was there was supposed to be greeted by the manager of each department and to give us our schedule of when to start, after the orientation was done. 
No one from the kitchen department came to greet me. And so I never knew what time I had to come in. 
No big deal. I wasn't upset. Its just what I know now, it all makes sense. And so a big 'RED FLAG.'
I ended up calling the kitchen when I got home. 
And I explained that I was at orientation but never gotten the schedule. The lady, the manager on the phone, did apologize. They was so busy that they didn't have time to come meet me. 
She told me to come in the next day. I did come in. 
When I first got there, I felt a weird vibe. 😕 
The hiring manager was repeating herself to me a few times like I was stupid. She told me to go out to the cafeteria area to wait for the male worker that was gonna train me. 
I heard her the first time.  That pist me off that she was talking to me like I was stupid. 
I wished that I could of walked out at that moment. 
Well let's just say, the person that trained me wasn't helpful. And the kitchen looked so dangerous and unorganized.
They wasnt nice. Wasn't welcoming.  I only worked for almost a few hours. 
I ended up leaving early. 
I never came back. I ended up quiting. 
I hope that their kitchen is better now and they have made better changes, so when the newer people come in, it will be good for those. 
Plus I kept getting loss around the hospital, it was just not good. 

The good part is that, you get paid really well. Great benefits, insurance, 401k. 

The HR at the hospital seem very nice and caring. But the managers in the cafeteria kitchen, and some of the workers aren't that nice Unfortunately.  🤔 


I traveled between Acute care setting, where I was usually in the Neuro ICU and the Rehab Unit.
In the Rehab Unit, the schedule was structured and this made it easy to meet productivity and address a variety of treatments in one day. Here there were patient care conferences scheduled that included all healthcare professionals working with that specific patient.
In the Acute setting, I would get a set of cards with patient information. Sometimes 6 cards and sometimes 15 cards. It was my job to prioritize my caseload and attempt to provide the best quality of care to as many of those people as possible. The possibility of the patient having to have a procedure, test or see a therapy or healthcare provider dealing with more medical/serious issues occurred frequently, making it difficult to meet productivity and get to all of the patients. 
Management did the best they could with what they had. It was frustrating when they didn't understand the reasoning  for decreased productivity in Acute vs Rehab, since the settings organization and structure were completely different.
The hardest part of the job was not having a consistent caseload in Rehab, because I was a float person there and not having enough O.T. staff to get to all of the Acute patients in one day.
The most enjoyable part of the job was being able to see a patient who was on the vent in Neuro ICU  leaving home from Rehab. That was definitely the best part of being in both places. I also loved the other therapists that I worked with. We worked well and communicate well with each other.

I used to work days during my entire career in Sunrise Hospital. Start my work getting the reports of the patients that I would serve that day from the night nurse.Greeting the patients as I enter the their rooms and see some pf them smiile thru `their pains gives booze to continue my days work. My best knowledge in starting an I,V. and helping my co-workers to who finds it difficult to do was one of the best moments in my days work.Typical days work was very busy and from 7.00 a.m tp 7.10.p.m time flies with all the work. Taking Doctors' orders, checking and giving the correct medicine on time to the patients and make sure that they are comfortable was my main aim at work, My co-workers ( most of them were females) were very pleasant and most of them really respect for my knowledge and ny seniority.The hardest part of the job was to see a patient loosing his or her life and also to see the young generation loose their lives taking overdose.But I have to hide my personal feelings and get on with my job as well as expected from me. The most enjoyable time is to see a patients go home fully recovered and thanking me for my job well done. And also when their relatives appreciate my hard work to make the patient happy.The management was always happy with with my work and appreciate the way I work in timely manner,

Patient-RN ratios are abysmally high with no care about how patient and RN safety are at risk. Manager can never be found; no support for nightshift. Most nights no CNAs, so it's extra work. High acuity and considered a regular MedSurg - continuous rapid responses, electrolyte protocols, and blood transfusions every single shift: we are last to get new hires, most nights we get floats to the floor, we're without charges for nightshift most nights, and there's barely any word about support for us. Dayshift veterans are bullies to the newbies and when this was brought up to upper management, it was written off as "they know what they're doing, they're just a little rough around the edges, you just have to prove yourself to them." The work culture and 8:1 ratios are known, but it's also written off as "we know it sucks, but we know that if you can handle it, it'll make you better nurses." They lock you in to 2 year contracts because they know once people find out about these working conditions, they leave. Many new hires leave anyway and suffer the consequences. I'm looking to be one of them soon. 

Very professional and up to date place to work. Employee very prepared and always in disposition to help. Excellent place to work. Do not regret to practice there. I go there every day that I was assigned to shadow a Doctor and follow him during floor rounds and see the way the doctor do the management of patients and the interactions with them. Later I go and help the Dr with the notes and charts and any paperwork that he needs. Sometimes Im able to go with him to his office and help him as a Medical Assistant and help him with any task that he need. From taking vital signs to taking a complete medical history. Many times I have to make a full report and then the Dr. just check if I have to add or remove something. Everyone there was very helpful. The hardest part at the beginning was getting used to not working that directly with patients because I did my medical training in Mexico and over there it was very hands on. I did a lot of procedures and help a lot of people by my own (many time with the supervision of a physician). The most enjoyable part is seeing every kid and parent, every patient with the face of satisfaction of being cared and feeling better because our help.

A Typical day at work was very exciting! You never know who or what's going to come through the ER Doors. There were days when you walk in and the action is taken place as you're clocking in. Wash up and jump in when and where needed. 

I learned how to be more confident in myself how to talk to family members in the worse situations in the event of a family member or passing of a friend..

My co-workers were fantastic! We supported each other. If there was a co-worker that needed help we were right there. Working in the 
Peds ER could become very hectic and there were more patients coming in more than one registration clerk could handle.. As soon as he/she was free you could depend on backup.

The hardest part of my job was seeing abused children or adults. Having to try and talk to a love ones after a tragic accident or dealth.

The most enjoyable part of my job was making others smile! Be a patient or co-worker. If the day has been long and tough. Making someone smile and realize that it will be over soon or make a child stop crying because they are afraid of needles. Made my day when the shift was over and everyone leaves happy!

I worked 12 hours night shift, at least four times a week. I have been an employee of Sunrise hospital for more that six years now, and I can say that they have helped me to discover my potentials, my weaknesses, and have given me enough room to improve my skills and abilities as part of the health care team. To sum it up, the management has been supportive to the staff . . Although there are things that you do not agree, but because of your passion to care for the sick and well, we were able to surpassed the challenges of changed in the management. In every company or department there will always be disagreement in terms of principles and beliefs, but the respect of each other differences is there. Working as a critical care nurse in the ED is very challenging in every aspect of your being, but the inner desire to make a differences in the life of a trauma patient makes things bearable. I do love my colleagues, physicians, ancillary staff in the emergency d part meant which makes things much easier.

I loved working at Sunrise Hospital. Each day presented new challenges that required collaboration between multiple health care providers. It was a great joy working with dedicated individuals whose common goal was to ensure patient safety and quality care. These health care providers included physicians, PTs, OTs, speech language therapists, APRNs, CNAs, technicians, and surgeons. Sunrise Hospital is Southern Nevada's largest acute care hospital, and as such it moves at an extremely quick pace. One minute there could be tranquility and a reassuring calm demeanor, whereas the next hour could turn into an internal triage secondary to unfortunate circumstances that require 'all hands on deck.' I would have loved to continue my career at this unique facility; however, I had to relocate for family reasons. I would highly recommend this facility comprised of more than coworkers and acquaintances; family would be a more just term.

coworkers were nice and helpful for the most part. fairly nice clean place to work. management very inflexible and if you are friends with them you never have to worry about getting disciplined for anything you do wrong but if you are not part of their click then you are subjected to suspension, and or termination for the same infractions that thier friends are guilty of. Have seen people terminated after 25+ years of employment using the excuse of cutbacks. The management only wanted to cut the payroll budget by getting rid of the higher payed employees while at the same time accepting bonuses and trips etc. for doing this. I have personally witnessed an ICU charge nurse who was absent more than 100 times in a year and a half retain her position while others who called in 8 or 9 times in 1 year were terminated. On what planet is that fairness? I have witnessed many more instances of favoritism to many to state here.
