Taylor Hardin Secure Medical Facility

Management has no structure and everyone wants to be a supervisor. Staffing and management do not communicate to each other and the float pool for techs is saturated with the same people, resulting in staff being overworked. It’s a good stepping stone to walk into healthcare but I can’t recommend starting a career at Taylor Hardin. Also the forced overtime is too much and causes unsafe work conditions.

There is nothing to report really. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Everyone worked together to get the job done.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Get report to find out everything we needed to know about the patients and what they had experienced during the day, then started work.

Enjoyed working with staff and patients, but management undermined our best efforts to improve the quality of services.  A very hierarchical management philosophy caused much unnecessary friction among staff and eventually led to the dismissal of the executive director.  However, the culture was already damaged and recovery looked slow and dismal.

This is not the same TH I knew back in 2015..everybody want to be a supervisor,the communication is poor and the patients run the facility.The Fts get treated extremely bad but they do the most work.Patients will attack you for doing your job and nothing is done about it..  they watch the camaras to find any little thing to complain about…Just DONT WORK HERE 

Everyone wants to be a supervisor, and there’s drama constantly. The leaders don’t know how to lead properly and the patients run the place and the workers concerns are not taken seriously. I will say that you have the ability to make lots of money only because of the mandated overtime because they scare all the workers away!

I really do not have anything to say about THSMF, good or bad. If you are looking for a job (or career) in the mental health field, you can't go wrong at THSMF. I enjoyed my 30+ years at THSMF, it's time for a new chapter in my life.

Overall great agency and staff. I learned how to assess clients and complete a psychosocial assessment. The work culture was okay and we worked as a team. The hardest part was being 7 months pregnant. I enjoyed the staff and clients.

Taylor Hardin is a good place to work in the social work department.  The facility director sucks and the support from Montgomery is not good either.  All they care about is numbers and not patient care.

They worked me 2 weeks with overtime after an incident and at my 3 month review terminated me. I had never missed a day, never laye, worked over 60 hours a week, and never written up.

This place is difficult to work for. Chronically understaffed and demanding mandatory overtime. Staff are unprofessional, lines of authority are blurred.  Do not get breaks many days. Staff are not utilized in a sensible manner.
