Usually as a quality control inspector at the start of the shift, you may be called for a departmental meeting or a one on one meeting with the dept supervisor to discuss any changes or document implementations, revision changes in documentation, any non conforming matters with product that may have occured during the day shift, I was a 2nd shift inspector.  Upon that, performing duties in 3 phases of quality control/ according to production operations i.e. in process, final and presterile (packaging) qa. Each inspector rotated weeks to inspect product.  In process dealt with inspecting  product that was that was " in the process of" making the final product or the heart catheters we made.  Final QA was that of finished catheters with the presence of a ballooned tip or an electode attachment in the case of pacing catheters.  Presterile QA dealt with catheters directly within the packaging area preparing to leave the building in which printed material i.e. booklets, labels, sealed pouch and package inspections were to be carried out by the inspectors.  Rejected material were placed on HOLD shelves until reworked and released by quality control.  The use of computers to inspect product and entering data into the inspection was done as werethe use of tooling, i.e vernier calipers, micrometers ,  multimeter and continuity on catheters that contained electrical components like pacing or thermodilution catheters.

Teleflex is a global medical device manufacturer and distributor. Focus is on manufacturing, sales and distribution with little recognition of IT importance means that resources are limited and there is a high demand on IT employees and long hours. The business shows a lack of clear direction and poor planning leading to unclear directives for the teams. There is not an avenue for management to obtain employee feedback to provide suggestions for improvements. The budget is always fluctuating causing the need for continuous replanning. The IT technology is diverse and always offers us room to grow and develop. The technical skill level is high and the team members are tight making IT like more of a family than an organization. Some of the best people I know work at Teleflex. I love the interaction and the challenge.

The typical work day: I worked on about 10 projects similtaneously: from branch office designs for installations, to WAN redesigns, to Global wireless design, to new site installations, to integration of aquired companies to a new data center. I trained new Network employees and mentored others. I supported other teams and was the go to resource for all network information. I attended new technology meetings and vendor mangement for remote site implementations. I wrote multiple technical documents for design, implementation and support of the network.

This company's primary focus is not on making a difference, it is on making money and keeping customers. Management is among the worst I've ever had. They care very little for their employees and add to the toxic culture that is set in place by their disgruntled employees. 

The product line in which I was placed, is their best-selling product, yet it is severely understaffed due to a constant merry-go-round of people coming and going. They recently increased the daily goal amounts despite knowing that we are constantly understaffed and always training new people. This led to a major stretch of overtime performed in-week and on the weekends for months and it is still on-going. 

Despite knowing all this, we are questioned every day on why we don't hit our daily numbers. They do not seem to understand that it is not that we DON'T WANT to hit those number, but that we CAN'T in our circumstances. We don't intentionally not hit our numbers. No one likes overtime. 

This is only a small sample from the list of things that had occurred during my short tenure that caused many employees to become disgruntled.

In short, this company has a myriad of problems that it needs to fix and it starts with their leaders. Until they have a shift in culture and a change in management, I cannot recommend anyone working here as there is just too much toxicity between management and the disgruntled workers. Otherwise, the work is simple and the pay isn't bad comparatively.

First ofall, 80% of the company is temporary workers employed by TRC Staffing. Teleflex rarely hires any temps on as a full time employee and the pay is WAY too low for the hours you are forced to work. Full time employees in the same position are being paid three times as much as the temps, while the temporary employees work circles around the full timers in terms of speed and amount of work done in a single day.A typical day at teleflex starts at 5am. One minute after five and you recieve a tardy, which is a half point. After 4 points and you're terminated. The job is extremely easy, no matter which department you're in. That being said, the amount of gossip and drama is outrgeous. Everyone tattles on people and talks about everyone behind their backs. Across the entire plant, you will hear gossip and people talking behind someone else's back. The place is worse than high school and the managers are just as bad as everyone else. The best part of the job is the warehouse experience that could be used to move on to somewhere else and make the money that you should be making doing this job.

The work itself isn't difficult ir problematic and, can actually be fun and engaging at times. The biggest problem I've experienced in my 4+years as a machine operatior of various levels is that the leadership is lacking in a lot of ways. The first and most important problem I have with the management at teleflex is the lack of communication. They fail to communicate in a timely manner or in an effective manner to convey their ideas to eachother and the often don't communicate important or time sensitive information to the people they are managing. Normally if questioned on why things are happening a certain way the leads and supervisors shrug their shoulders and say they don't have that information. 

Another glaring issue with Teleflex is the lack of employee engagment. They have an employee engagment team but they often fall short of the mark. To be honest I don't know the name of a single person on the team, the implication being they don't really engage with any of the employees in a memorable or meaningful way. The most I've seen them do is plan raffles or small competitions. This lack of engagment causes the employees to not really socialize or act as a cohesive team. 

The production force works 6 days a week, 12-14 hour days. The engineers work 12 hour days and often times a t night just to keep up. We only have managers and no leaders. The plant manager has a "special" relationship with some of the managers and therefore difficult to work with. The benefits are marginal at best. The benefit/salary compensation is very much at the low end (which does not attract the best candidates). Most people that work there don't have a personal life at all.

The hardest part of the job is that the management team does not know how much is too much. All the engineers are over-burdened and there are about a dozen major projects needing implementation by mid-year, yet very few engineers to implement them.

The managers do not work cross-functionally (rather in silos), there is a complete lack of leadership & breakdown in communication.

I have learned that I really need to assess the culture, professionalism and attitude at my next job place. These play such a huge part into my future stability and happiness within that company.

The company was great, manageoccurrences.

cent, benefits were good. 12 paid holidays plus 80 hrs pto (with the mn safe and sick pay included). Short term disability covered 100% of pay for up to 8 weeks, 60% after). They did employee engagement activities like picnics,holiday parties and employee appreciation days. The culture was diverse and fun as well. 
The lunch room has vending machines that are often broken and HIGH prices. Plates and silverware provided.

They use the point system for attendance occurances, which is just dumb. 7 points and you're terminated. Points vary from .5 to 2 per event. 

Once the "restructuring" began, it all went downhill from there. The tension was high, secrets were kept from employees and blindsighted by mass layoffs (with severence packages) began. They posted all the (laid off) positions online after a month for the same location, with less pay, so we see the bottom line. 

Leadership team that's on warehouse floors are very very messy. They talk about you to other employees or amongst themselves. They pick with you talking down on you to other employees creating a hostel environment for you. If you go to Hr nothing is done and you finally have had enough very bad rumors are spreaded on you. You report nothing is done it continues. They don't help when all the work is on one person they sit in their desk no support. They give raises and take it back you work same hrs a week but check is always different. Over time hrs check looks the same if you have an emergency and still have pto time and call in they  will use your pto time and they will point you. Need I say more these are facts they will cheat you out ya money and will not pay you. And when you turn it in six months later you are still waiting on Hr to contact you back about it  think once before you work here.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Friendly and honest workforce, masked and dishonest corporate leaders who mask behind core values. Middle management gets it all done. Financially very poorly planned and business processes on resourcing do not exist. As a leader in the new world, you can try, but the corporate leaders especially operation leadership and site leadership will dirty politics and eventually you will be fired. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Trying to make a difference and change the company to innovation and new product development company. Many of the older VPs love for you to show up, brown nose them.

Friendly work culture and evironment. People trust leadership and work hard blindly.

Very busy and fighting with competing priorities

What is the best part of working at the company?
Paid breaks including lunch. Ample time off and Holidays.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Fighting for promotions, and raises knowing new hires with no relevant experience are making more.  Having to train these new hires, and being pushed to certify them without the complete training that was required of us less than a year ago. Then being yelled at as a team because the products being produced are not to spec.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Hire as many "Warm Bodies" as possible, then expect the high standards medical manufacturing requires. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Arrive at work, and try to figure out what the previous shifts have done to your machine that you had working perfectly the previous day. Then attempt to make up for that lost time so you can meet your expected production quota.
