This company was founded by some people that had a heart for special needs kids.  However,  the owners delegated their children to run the business.  They hired a clinical nurse manager from another failed home health company that didn't have a very good reputation in regards of management effectiveness and brought those poor practices across to Tendercare.  Since making that transition, the standards of conduct by management have declined. They are hard on families and are quickly developing a reputation for not treating families with professionalism.  If you work here, from management, you can expect little confidentiality, poor communication, a lack of professionalism .  There is a conflict of interest in the relationship between the Administrator and the HR Director.     Due to being a family run operation they have lack many policies that are necessary to run a professional business. They are disorganized and chaotic at times. They pay low compared to industry standard and claim they can not give a raise due to set Medicaid pricing. Despite having A LOT of management  - they are pretty top heavy.  Your success in home health has a lot to do with the family you are placed within.  This management team will be very interested in the family's satisfaction level and not too concerned with yours perspective. The leadership team is poor at managing the balance between families wishes and staff satisfaction.   They struggle to create a win-win atmosphere. You are important as a staff person until you are hired and within the company - then you don't matter much. 

A typical day at TCMS is hard to describe but I will tell you that what ever is thrown at you, you WILL ALWAYS have the support needed to accomplish it. I'm a trainer of new employees and to be honest I never thought I would be at this point in this company but I love it. This job has Managers that know every one of their employees by name and try to make it a point to inquire with each one regularly to make sure they have what they need to complete their job. I would have to say the hardest part of the job is when we, anyone, looses a client to their disability or illness. All I can say is we try to make their lives as easy as possible while they are here with us. It is a company wide deep felt sorrow when one of our clients leave this earth. I have to say that the most enjoyable part of the job is everything! No matter how bad the day is it is still better than a super good day at any other job that I have ever had. I have had the pleasure to be an employee both in the medical side and supply side as well as receive the services from both sides and I don't know of any other company that I would openly refer to people in need of care givers or supplies.

I was nervous starting a new career at first and wasn't sure I would be able to transition. The training is wonderful at this company! My manager is truly looking at the individual and if they will vibe well with the team instead of explicitly  billing experience.  I was hired with zero billing experience and now am one of the trainers for my department. I was given all the tools I needed and the environment is very open and excepting when you get stuck on something and help is needed. Questions are encouraged! It is a great team to work with and the work/home balance is wonderful. Some Skills that are helpful to have for this job are: attention to detail, time management, ability to take notes, and basic computer skills.

This is such a fun and unique career option. As an RN you have the ability yo participate in every day life with patient’s and their families. This job offers lots of support and orientation. Charting is a breeze. Pay is the same for all RNs across the board, with an “incentive bonus” being thrown around as something to balance out pay imbalances. The company hasn’t been clear on what the incentives are exactly. There is a lot of misinformation given in interviews and displayed on Indeed listings. You wont truly know what to expect until you actually go and meet the family you get placed with. Overall, the employees in the field all seem very passionate and love their jobs. The company itself has growing pains and some things to work on. 

Like any job, there are perks and drawbacks. As far as nursing goes, this job is pretty low stress. Your client is healthy enough to be at home (with nursing help) so it’s not the same as acute care. You’ll get great experience with things like trachs, G-tubes, ventilators, etc. You’ll develop a close relationship with your client and their family. You have to be able to work independently and you may not ever see any of your coworkers or management. 
Pros: low stress, flexibility in scheduling, no mandatory weekends/holidays/call shifts. If you mesh well with your client’s family it hardly feels like work. 
Cons: pay is not competitive and you get paid the same whether you have been a nurse for 1 minute or 10 years. Pay for ALL PDNs is $32/hourly, despite what the Indeed listing says you can make “up to” (They do offer night and weekend differential though). 

I love working at Tender Care medical supply. What I enjoy most is the staff and the work and life balance they provide.  The staff really cares about their employees and their success within the company. They created a system that you have a buddy (another co-worker) that will cover you when you take time off, so that you feel secure about your responsibilities being taken care of while your gone and don't have an overwhelming amount of work to catch up on when you are back. Management is extremely caring in that they care about their employees and the clients we serve by ensuring that we provide them with the best support possible in making sure their medical supply needs are being met. 

Just a few weeks in the CEO and COO knew my name and position and truly cared about me and were happy to have a new face in the building. After just about 4 months this amazing energy from my colleagues never lets up and this is truly the best place to work, and I am so excited and lucky to have started my career at Tender Care! I had no previous experience in medical billing, but my manager and trainers were willing to teach me everything I needed to know at a very reasonable pace. There is a resource for any and everything, this place really sets you up for success. I have met some amazing people and look forward to the growth at Tender Care.  

The job is complex to learn but comfortable to perform, once trained.  The training program is comprehensive and you are well supported through the learning process.  The management is fair and easy to work with, for those who come to work and do their job.  The hardest part of the job is loosing a client on your caseload and the best part is working for a company that treats you like an adult and allows you the grace to learn and grow in your position.

Tender Care is an amazing company to work for!! I've been with the company for 14 years and I've seen them grow so much, but they still keep that personal family feel. They've always said they do it for the kids and this has remained their focus since the beginning. They take great care of their patients, families and employees alike! This is a great company if you're looking for work life balance and a fun environment to care for children and families.

I have worked for Tender Care for over a year now.  I have never worked for a more compassionate and empathetic company before.  Through life's ups and downs, Tender Care understands a person's need for balance between work and life and have supported me through some hardships already, in ways I wouldn't have imagined I needed!  I love working for this company and plan to do so for years to come!
