I was a contractor at Texas Capital Bank for 3 years, however my assignment was abruptly ended. The management (not leadership) in the document management department, is incompetent, deceptive and reeks of WASP privilege. The company as a whole is not very inclusive of contractors and often treats them as second class citizens. 

I've worked in the office since the beginning of the pandemic while 80% of the organization worked from home. In April, a VP, from a different department within the bank contacted my immediate manager stating that she'd wanted to offer me a full time job, as she and I had previously networked and she'd heard great things from other employees regarding my work ethic. My immediate manager informed her that they still needed me, due to the lack of staff onsite because of covid (and the attrition attributed to employees that left because of the tyranny and systematic racism that exists within that department). 

The managers are not very knowledgeable and lacks true leadership ( a prime example of the Nepotism that exists within the department). 
If you are looking for a department that values their employees, with growth potential, you are looking at the wrong department. The organization as a whole is great, however, they need to be more inclusive for contractors... We are also human, we have families and feelings. We volunteered to leave our houses month after month during these uncertain times and were not afforded the same benefits given to full time employees

Love the people who works there in every department.  It is very unfortunate that management allows office bullying. Listens to other managers over employees.  Top CEO indicated in town hall that management had no people skills or management skills and needed training but never followed through.
Worked there 3 years and only allowed 2 weeks pro that can be used as vacation or sick time. If you get sick for a week that's a week less on vacation and vice versa. Not allowed to make up time. Cut backs on overtime. When it gets busy they hire outside contractors over allowing overtime and keep as contractors over 2+years never letting them know if they will get hired but lures them in like they will. Management goes by staff to determine a contractor worth or likeability over analyzing for themselves. If staff doesn't agree, they will be let go immediately. Many managers have less than a year in work history as a manager and many are micro managers.
Unfortunate as new company to the mortgage side but very behind on software for type of industry, severely lack quality management with no people skills at all who doesn't appreciate their people working there.  Many complaints about management from variety of departments. Very sad

I was hired into a sort of "pseudo-IT" role so it was basically a business position where we pretended to be IT. The problem with that is the expectation existed we would solve business problems with IT solutions, but since we were not "officially" IT, we faced constant push-back from "real" IT in terms of things like server access, getting permissions granted, making needed changes, etc. It was just a constant battle to implement any kind of meaningful improvements to address major deficiencies (ex: multi-hour down times on mission-critical applications that could have been easily fixed but I was told to "stay in my lane").

The office culture is good (pre-covid), the people are passionate and caring with each other interpersonally, and I have no doubt that if you were hired on the more banking/business side everything would operate just like every other big bank in America. But as a veteran of the IT world, there was just too much paper-pushing, manual processes, and lack of innovation than I would consider for an exciting long-term place to work.

This organization operates less like a meritocracy and more like a social sorting mechanism. Hiring and promotion favor a narrow set of academic pedigrees and cultural signals, while actual capability is secondary.

Many senior hires come from large, well-known finance firms yet lack the ability—or willingness—to do real work. Their primary skillset appears to be narrative management: shifting blame downward, claiming credit upward, and maintaining appearances.

If your work succeeds, expect it to be repackaged and presented by someone more senior. If it struggles, expect immediate finger-pointing. Psychological safety is nonexistent, and accountability is asymmetrical.

The result is a toxic environment driven by insecurity and ego, where ignorance is protected by hierarchy and competence is quietly penalized.

Best suited for those comfortable navigating politics rather than producing outcomes.

Management is contracted and not always in office relying on senior employees to report to them. Senior employees do not know how to manage and often fire contracted employees they have a personal dislike for. Highly unprofessional. Manager is out of office in meetings all day every day. Work is at desks with computers. Workplace culture is not good. Employees often do what is not right and hide it from other senior employees only to deliberately try to get other employees in trouble in a tattle-tale environment. If they get along with senior employees, they cry and get leniency for a day to have their hand held. Those who don’t cry get treated harshly. The hardest part of the job is tolerating the behavior of the other employees. The most rewarding part of the job is knowing how to do the daily tasks and pay day! 

A typical work day includes various tasks.  Different day by day.
I learned more about corporate lending in addition to treasury management,  and import/export lending.  
TCB has an open-door policy - all the way to the top.  The EVP/Team Leader of the corporate lending team is great to work with.  Fair, accessible, wonderful leader.
For the most part, co-workers were easy to get along and work with.
I can't say anything about the hardest part - there really isn't anything to speak of.  I love the fast-pace environment.
The most enjoyable part of the job is the ability to work closely with clients/prospects.  Customer service is a major priority for me.


The 7-month Management Trainee (MT) program is a rotational training program that prepares its participants for positions of influence in the organization. During the program participants will move through a series of extended rotations in all facets of the business where they will learn the tasks and functions of all departments within the organization. MTs will receive hands-on training and participate in customer calls, administrative meetings, sales, financials, interviewing and selection, performance management, all designed to give the MT exposure to the depth and breadth of the organization and provide learning opportunities. Participants will have opportunities to build relationships with leaders in all parts of the organization as they develop their own leadership and management style.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Pay for the skill set with semi-annual and annual reviews. Promotion from within. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Making sure you make your funding and wire deadlines. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great work environment - company furnishes coffee and nice area for lunch. Great culture to include diversity. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Review title commitments, Review loan docs with credit approval, order loan docs from attorney or laser pro docs. Check on loans for funding. Confirm wire instructions with title companies and fund loans once signed loan docs received. Go through list of required docs/items for closing.

My experience at this company was disappointing due to a culture that prioritized control over collaboration. Day-to-day work often felt micromanaged, leaving little space for autonomy or creativity. Despite expressing interest in growth, there were few opportunities for learning or career development—no structured paths, mentorship, or support for upskilling. Feedback was inconsistent and often reactive rather than developmental. The lack of investment in employees led to high turnover, which put added pressure on those who remained. There’s potential for this organization to improve, but it would require a real shift in leadership mindset, starting with trust, communication, and a commitment to helping employees thrive. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the reality I experienced.

Most disorganized bank with very little resources and senior management totally clueless!

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Bring clients to the bank and advisors don’t want to help unless client has minimum $1 million but probably $3 million.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Co workers good but management is at best lousy!

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Meeting with clients and uncovering their needs and try to offer products and solutions which was very hard since there are any advisors willing to assist clients with less than $1 million and were asking for high fees.
