Thatch has it's ups and downs. Being an MSP it suffers from the Industry it chooses to be in. 

Long hours, weekends, cheap clients. Thatch suffers most from the fact it's at its roots a family owned and ran company. All of management besides 2 "Supervisors"(Titles and overall structure of employees is messy and serverly lacking) have stake in the company which in my opinion clouds judgement in many ways. This fosters a culture at large of being asked "Who are you billing" if you're not on the grind stone constantly. This also fosters the culture that drives truly billable hours such as project or onsite time over remote support, which is coveraged under contact, which is typical in the MSP space. 

 Pay is below average. You do get the ability to do something about it through getting certifications on your own time. But overall  hiring rates leave a bit to be desired. Raises are typically a buck there, buck here. This is one of the reasons it's a stepping stone in my honest opinion. 

Processes and documentation in many situations is extremely sparse. Many times when processes are announced By upper management, it’s apparent from the get-go that many are rushed and typically a bandaid instead of a throughly thought-out and well defined process. These processes are also not heavily enforced on newer staff and typically outright ignored by more senior staff members. Documentation for various clients can be rather sparse which leads to issues when assisting them in their it needs. Many times the senior staff are some of the only people who work on said clients, making it so techs have to rely on those people to answer their questions. 

Those same senior members are typically overworked to the point they're not able to help and guide newer employees. They typically are the worse offenders of the documentation issues(Due to the over work). 

Benefits leave a lot to be desired. 3 hours of PTO / check is all you get that translate to a litter under 10 days/year in accured time off. "Luckily" you can take unpaid days off for personal and sick days if you so choose. Healthcare is decent. Better than most. 

I'll end this and say I have high hopes for TCC, it's a great group of people on a personal level. The introduction of the new CEO is a great first step of getting out of the small family owned/ran business mindset. But this place is far from a end all be all company. It's a great place to get experience under your belt, a few certifications and bolt to something that pays better, and isn't putting out fires, rather building fireproof solutions. 

I've been working as an IT Consultant at Thatch for over 5 years, and I can confidently say it's one of the best career decisions I've made. The company provides an excellent environment for growth and learning, with a team that's both supportive and knowledgeable.

Working as a field tech for Thatch Computer Consulting in New Jersey has been an awesome experience. The team is super supportive, and they really make sure you’ve got everything you need to get the job done right.

I get to work with a bunch of different clients, and it’s cool to see how much they appreciate what we do. The company really focuses on helping us grow and learn, and the training they provide is top-notch.

The expected workload is fine, they reasonably pay for fuel expenses and reimburse for using your own vehicle for work travel. 
However there has not been a workload for almost an entire year for anyone in the field team. Management decided they did not need to seek clients until half of the employees quit and the company lost profit, and as soon as new clients started calling, they immediately began onboarding again even though current employees still do not have a consistent workload (some do not have work at all) and the new employees now also do not have any work, which is unfair to both new and old employees. 

While you’re hired for 40+ hours weekly and may go in expecting to create a savings with overtime and your pay, don’t. Hours are not consistent, you’re either working and driving so much you can hardly plan anything for your day. So, if you have kids be prepared to never see them or possibly not be able to provide for the month. The leadership outside of the owner are a bunch of family members and close friends. They try to foster an atmosphere of care, but comes off fake when you have actual concerns about their performance as it relates to how the job impacts your personal life. I did get some great experience that has put me in a TRUE leadership role now. So thanks for that! All In all of you need some quick IT experience work here for a year and find a better IT position. 

I’ve been working as a field tech at Thatch since 2023, and it’s been a pretty good experience overall. The job’s hands-on, and there’s always something new to fix, which keeps things from getting boring. You’re out and about a lot, so if you like variety it’s great. The driving can be a bit much sometimes, but I don’t mind it too much—it’s nice to get out on the road.
The management team is pretty supportive, and they make sure you have everything you need to do the job. Training’s solid, and if you ever run into a tricky situation, there’s usually someone who can help out. You’ve got a good amount of independence, which is nice, and helping customers solve problems feels pretty rewarding.
Overall, if you’re cool with driving and like hands-on work, this is a solid job for anyone who likes a bit of variety and dealing with customers.

The people and the culture are hands down the best part about working here, they genuinely care and are very supportive. On top of that there are solid benefits!

IT can get busy and is a fast paced environment.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Culture is great with supportive team members as well as a supportive management team. I feel like my voice is always heard and never discouraged.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You go on site and talk to the MOD then work to complete a scope of work that could be a full install or sometimes just a couple devices then make sure everything is working with your NOC. Then you can check out and start your drive home.
