This was my first job outside of the military, place was great for a few months, but if you’re looking for long term this place is an absolute nightmare. The owners are great, the staff is amazing, the foods decent, but what makes this place stick out is the impressive beer selection. What drove me out of this place is the terrible management. Normally I don’t leave reviews but I’d like to warn those that are looking at this job. The management is highly unprofessional, inappropriate, and incompetent in their position.  Management will talk poorly about their staff to other employees and to their customers, turnover and retention rate is very low due to this. The money is decent at best but most night you’ll walk out with 80 to 100. Unfortunately due to management this place is nowhere near its former self. 

I can't speak for all brass taps as I've only worked at this one; however, this was truly an awful experience with a lackluster management team. I really wanted to like this place too. Great location. Great beer. Cool atmosphere; however, this all eroded away quickly. We had an inexperienced and incredibly rude bar manager that would get constant complaints from employees and customers alike. Our GM was talented, but never seemed to have his heart in it and had very little consideration over his employees. I was let go in hands down the most unprofessional manner possible. Instead of just sitting me down and letting me know that they wanted to go separate ways. They just post a schedule on Facebook without my name on it. No call. No talk. Not even a text explaining it. Just a post and ducking their heads.

Working for The Brass Tap has/was an incredible experience. The pay sucks but that's with every serving job, tips are pretty nice so that's where you'll be making all of your money. The customers that come in are wonderful, my coworkers are/were amazing, and management is the best I've ever worked for. If you're a beer lover or if you're wanting to learn more about craft beer then you will love working for this company. You will learn a lot and you will have to study to know your stuff because there will be customers that will come in that know ALL about craft beer and sometimes you wont know how to respond to them... Take that as a learning experience and be honest. They're going to know if you're lying about knowing what you're talking about. But anyways like I said, this company is amazing.

The management team at the Brass Tap Owners need a class in professionalism when talking to employees instead of treating you like your just hired pay, businesses succeed when employees are respected this isn't the case here . Pay is low considering the amount of hats you where at any given time . Than your constantly yelled at by the Owners like your a inhumane individual when their trying to expedite food orders in front of customers how professional is that. Maybe eventually the Owners of the Brass Tap will understand the importance of treating employees with respect and dignity instead of thinking that everyone is expendable. Human beings are human beings hired help is hired help but you only get what you pay for.

The restaurant has great potential if the General Manager and the Chef would get there minds on the business and not else where. The place would already be booming if the lack of communication wasn't there with these two and there staff under them. The owner being as new as he is, started cutting staff to skeleton crews, then started to groupon which brought business. Which in turn lost the respect of the customers because when dinner serves went horrible due to the lack of staff. The general manager and chef the whole time were either losing their cool or just off already drinking or at home. The owner has yet to see the laziness of his head managers even when its been brought up to him by another employee that quit the restaurant.

It was a wonderful place to work for a while. The customers are great, owners are good but not very present and the staff always felt like family. The issue is with management. The rules aren’t the same for everyone and it was very clear. If you enjoy hearing things you’ve done wrong from everyone else then this is the job for you. If you like getting reprimanded for things that others do on a daily basis go for it. It is a very unprofessional and unpleasant work environment full of gossip from management. I’m disappointed in the owners for not listening to the employees and their concerns when it’s been brought up. Let alone the huge turnover rate since the current GM has been in charge.

The days of the Great Resign are upon us, and as such everyone is understaffed. The job is simple and can be learned very quickly. The atmosphere was great. Employees all got stuff done and had fun doing it. But due to staffing shortages the hours were long and draining. Clopens were frequent. Doubles became draining. GM very narcissistic. Overall decent job, just understaffed and exhausting. Owner is "very selective" in hiring, which can be great, but was also detrimental. 2 line cooks often on closing shift with no dishwasher = sheet show. Hire as a line cook but you end up doing the jobs of 4 different people. Overtime was nice but no work-life balance. FoH shares a percentage of tips with BoH. Mostly positives. 

HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND - The Owners are very rude and do not introduce themselves and all you’ll receive from them is dirty glares and pointless hours of training and after hours meetings where they complain about everything even if employees are running it exactly as they want. I would never recommend working here to anyone. They treat their employees terribly. There is no shift meals, or drinks. I was hired on for full time and got scheduled 3 days a week just to be called off at least one every week. I made no money and had no set schedule after working here for over a month. Waste of time and effort. HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND 

There's a big problem with management passing of their responsibilities to their low paid workers. It's hard to make money because they give the "manager" role to the person who will work the shifts and double as the manager so the real managers can stay home. You will get left by yourself with no codes to take care of discounts/voids. This place is used as a playground with no thoughts on employee pockets. The bar takes on way too much for the low hourly pay. Be prepared to wash EVERY glass in the restaurant while making drinks for a full house. The severs have to cut themselves because management doesn't/can't pay attention to guest traffic.

I wouldn't recommend working here to anyone's unless you're desperate. Here in Charlotte, NC Management sucks. They are so cheap, or is it that the bar is actually failing?? They won't invest money to make the location the absolute best it can be. Constantly running out of material, food used on specials, no meal prep, no team work, they take a pic of a spreadsheet and fail to add workers to the group so the schedule can be seen by all. Favoritism can be seen from all sides as well as unfair judgement and unfit "write-ups." Overall the whole bar is dirty, NO MANDATED CLEAN SCHEDULE or even the correct materials to clean the bar. Moldy ice. Don't work or eat here.
