If you need a "job", then working at the Bridgeway is a "job". If you are looking for a career with an employer who values you as an employee, keep looking. My favorite part of the job was interacting with the patients. No matter what the diagnosis, they were all great. My least favorite part of the job is the way the patients were treated. The Bridgeway has a LOT of staff that is mean to the employees. They yell at the patients and will purpose withhold activities just to prove they can. There have also been times when the patients could not even bathe that day due to the fact that there was no soap in the facility. As an employee, I feel I was treated wrong. I did not even have insurance. The reason for no insurance is because my insurance packet sat on the nursing supervisor's desk for a month before they told me. The deadline to sign up for the insurance had passed. I would not recommend the Bridgeway!!!!!! And for getting a "Perfect Evaluation" I was given a .04 cent an hour raise. Pathetic!!!

Worked at this company for approximately six weeks. I turned down opportunities at a larger company for this one. This was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made. The staff in the Medical Records department are racist and will degrade you all the while being condescending everytime they speak to you. Everyday will be different than the last, you’ll never know where you stand, the Medical transcriptionist will TRY to get you fired, will go behind your back and lie if she feels intimidated by you. The manager over the HIM department doesn’t know if she’s coming or going most days, she struggles to make decisions on her own and talks about her employees behind their back with other employees. If you value your sanity or dignity don’t work here!!!! It’s a waste of your time and energy, the last three HIM clerks have ALL QUIT within the last year and a half!! No matter how nice or kind you are, the people at this place are all miserable and struggle to be happy. I’m warning you, just don’t even bother applying, you can do better. 

I was hired for geri-psych and was placed in acute psych. It was my first experience in psych and I was afraid of the patients sometimes. Sometimes there was a BHT to help me get patients that were actively unmedicated isolative schizophrenic. All paper charting no pixis.  On WEO we had 1 BHT for 30 or more patients and they didn't give keppra, lamictal, anything to prevent seizure activity. When I was there subacute psych and detox were mixed. CIWA COWS every 2 hours with sliding scale.  At least we had a fantastic med nurse because we were the unit with the most patients, during the weekdays they had 2 med nurses. They also stacked meds so there was something due every hour.  And in acute psych thats a tall order with patients being paranoid and either aggressive or isolative and not on the proper meds. A 10/2 required a mountain  of paperwork. No 10/2/50s. 

Horrible place to work, so many empty promises.  Constantly trying to admit patients despite high acuity on units or being full.  Sleep
Patients anywhere and everywhere.  Raises were a complete joke.  CNO has no clue how to manage staff and bullies employees.  Marketing tries to sell the place but the services are not really offered once you are admitted.  Groups usually don’t happen.  Patients have been abused, committed suicide and even held to the point of dying.  Embarrassed to even say I worked there for brief period of time. If you like trying to cover up mistakes so you can pass a survey, then it’s the place for you.  Unit staff usually have heart in right place but some are hateful.  Management are all ideas and no real action.  Some nursing managers will do anything to make it to the top-to join the elite group who really will do anything the please corrupt corporate.  It’s sad that most psych hospitals are UHS and exactly the same.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They have competitive pay but treat them terrible. I made a lot of long lasting friendships there but that's about it with my co-workers, not the administration

Lack of staff impossible assignments hostile vengeful with their employees

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
As co-workers we got along great. It was a great team. I'm going to thoroughly miss that, but as a administration communication to the staff there is none of that either

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Everyday was a nightmare but typical day would be me as the only RN with anywhere from 20 to 32 patients by myself with no help and admissions coming in that I have to do the last 6 months. I've been all of it. The med nurse, charge nurse, therapist ,and tech are in all of it

A horrible, stressful place to work.  More and more duties assigned with less and less staff to complete daily duties. Paperwork overwhelming, decreasing time available to spend with patients.  Patient care second to getting logs, forms, every 15 minute rounds, stacks and stacks of forms to complete each shift.  Often when census low staff are cancelled leaving remaining staff to complete their own duties as well as staff member cancelled.  Seems hospital is top heavy in upper management staff who contradict each other so each shift is a guessing game in how to keep the managers happy.  Money driven patient stays, insurance out-pt. discharged, ready or not. Always said when I had to "fudge" to get all my work done I would have to leave which I did. Most stressful job in all my 20 plus career with the least amount of management support & opportunities for significant pay increases available.  Don't try it.

This facility is short-staffed with a high turnover rate.  Coworkers know your business before you do, because of gossip by management to their 'friends'.  There are so many admissions each shift, MHTs & nurses cannot get all the work done.  Patients are allowed to abuse staff.  It is a noisy & dangerous place.  As an MHT, sometimes I had to work by myself if anybody called in sick.  Good people leave here because it is so stressful.  There is too much paperwork.  Some nurses are really hateful to the MHTs.  You get moved around a lot.  MHTs are on the lowest rung of the ladder, even with degrees.

It is a very unorganized place to work in a toxic environment. When the number of patients is low you get canceled often without pay. If you call to call in or get canceled, you get rude responses or hung up on even if you rarely call in and bust your butt to work extra shifts when needed. Seems to be always short-staffed but a large workload. Pay is the only good thing about it. Most of the staff leave or wanna leave. Don't waste your time. They really don't care about you, they just wanna put a body in the shift to make sure staffing is right. Nothing like orientation. They implement new rules and policies all the time but don't consider how difficult it is to reach those new goals when you are actually on the floor working.

I can’t say that there was a best part.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Always being understaffed. Not knowing if you would work on the floor you were assigned because they will float you to other units even if you have no experience in that area. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
For the most part here is no teamwork. It was always every man for themselves. Management left the staff on their own and was only worried about a body being in place. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
On a typical day. You worked your unit. As a nurse and depending on the unit, you would have all the charting to do on 15 plus patient and would have to make rounds and pas out meds too.

My job was that of conducting group therapy sessions for children, adolescents and adults on the weekends. The adolescent group therapy sessions were often the most challenging of the three group sessions on a given day, as they tended to be a little more manipulative than were the children or adults. Bridgeway Hospital was a private facility and would bill insurance by Monday morning, which would require that I had all clinical work done by Sunday evening before clocking out. The facility also had some CEU opportunities called Lunch and Learn at lunchtimes which were helpful in keeping current with my social work license.
