I've been employed with CMI for about 2 years and I can honestly say I would NEVER recommend anyone who is out on there own and has bills and responsibilities to apply at this job. This job is very stressful. Starting off as a regular 1st party agent they start you off at $9/hr everyone is part time unless your a lead or unit manager or you were hired for their 3rd party collections side. And honestly the people that I know that are in 3rd party have multiple complaints about the job. They have a high turn over rate between people coming and quiting because they were mislead or getting fired. There not really flexible with your hours for example if you had a second job or school. The lead are all lazy like crazy no one really knows anything of what there talking about if you were to ask a question there response would literally be idk just tell them they have to pay. There was only ONE lead I would go to who knew exactly what she was talking about. Don't even try to want to move up within the company because its all up to favortism and not actually up to the experience that you have. I had to ask multiple times to become a supervisor until they moved me up because the ones that were chosen couldn't handle the escalation  position or  took the position to their heads when they were talking to the customers. So i came along when they didn't have enough people to take the escalated calls. If your sick don't even think the doctors note will help sorry it won't it will still lead to actions being taken. The parking is ridiculous they have X amount of employees and a small parking lot so be advised you will have a lot of days were you will have to park way across the street and walk over. They give you two 15 minute breaks that seem about 5 minute. OMG I could literally go on and on and on and on about this job everything about The CMI Group is a con. It takes them forever and a day to give you your yearly review. After trying an trying with this company its about time to most definitely find a better paying, full time beneficial job. In all honesty the job is for a teenager who still lives at home with little to none responsibilities who is just looking for a part time job to put money in their pockets to play with.

I was hired and not contacted for months on what date I was to start had to call and find out that was my first experience from here. Then whatever you learn in training regarding PTO, time  or  FMLA, having Dr. notes and you are covered go ahead and scratch that. They don't give you time off unless it is convenient for them. For example in my case I informed them I had a sick family member dying of cancer in the interview, I was told don't worry about it should the worst happen you are covered. Then in training told as long as you bring the appropriate paperwork everything would be okay. So my loved one is dying in the hospital I find out while at work and inform my team lead and the main lead over my team lead and was told yes go. Come back a day later and was written up for leaving to be with my family member whom was dying as if I didn't have enough going on, I now had to stress over losing my job that I tried to make sure would be a good fit before taking it and lied to as to how things work. My family member does in fact die later a few weeks and I missed tell this person goodbye because I went to work stressed about losing my job instead of being there. A few months go by and I get extremely sick go to the Dr. was diagnosed with pneumonia had Dr. note stating I couldn't return due to having to take breathing treatments etc. came to work after two day sick because I was told I needed to in order to not get written up get sick while working had a manager be so insensitive to put a trash can by me so I could vomit in it instead of going to the bathroom to be sick. Which further made me feel as though my health didn't matter as long as they had me to take calls. I ended up in the hospital for being sick was out with dr. note another few days. When coming back I was there for a while then written up for being sick because I wasn't meeting my full 80 hours for two weeks. If you go with  complaints to H.R. you are told oh sorry nothing is done and they say sorry we arent robots we know life happens but do the exact opposite. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

This is a great company to work for! All they ask is that you do what you are trained to do and show up to work. I would say the hardest part of the job is being told "no" on the phone, however the most rewarding part of the job is being able to truly find ways to help people. Collections in general as a bad rap, but this company truly believes in excellent customer service and treating consumers with respect. The goals that are set are very achievable and the management staff will do whatever they can to help you achieve those goals. They want you to hit commission just as much as you want to get that commission. A typical day at work is being on the phones for 8 hours a day and talking to as many consumers as you can to collect as much money as you can. They have great incentives such as playing games to earn extra $$ that they do in addition to the monthly commission that you can earn. They also have what is called Fun Friday where they will bring in snacks for everyone. One of the most enjoyable things about the job is the people you work with, they are truly a great group of people! And you want to know the best part?! Your income potential is limitless because not only do you get an hourly salary but you earn commission based off of how much money you collect. The more money you collect the more money you will make.

I was given an opportunity to work with a company that took a chance with me with no experience in a call center environment. The CMI group collections make sure that you learn what ever they feel you are weak in and will help you make it strong. Management support management, however, the head manager came in and made very important changes. I have been away for awhile, so i'm not to sure how it runs at this time. The only thing that I had a problem with at the CMI Group was the cheap head phones. If you get hired there you will need to buy your own headphones, unless you are prepared not to hear anyone. Which will be very important in order to get your bonuses. The bonus is great when you are getting a small paycheck. The more you get paid, the higher your daily bonus will be, If you ask for a better pay, then you have to work for it. Nothing is free. Just be consistent and stay out of other people business and you keep your personal business to yourself. Other than that it's a great place.

Debt collections is exactly how you picture it with people cussing at you or yelling at you daily but you also get people that really want to pay their bills and gives you the opportunity to make bonus.  

The hardest part of the job is having to figure out which aggressive but not unprofessional approach to take with the debtors.

Management was cool. Some were a little snobbish but ok. They really try to help you get the job down. They don't want you to fail. The company gives you 2 weeks paid training but that's just the basics... you learn more out on the floor. 

Enjoyable part - They give away gift cards and different goodies from time to time. Also, available OT. 

Company has great benefits and also owned by the employees. They arent like other debt collection agencies. They have morals and good ethics. The CEO is a Christian man and treats his employees well.

I couldn’t last 6 months here. The management is terrible and they have favorites. Doctor appt’s are counted against you even if you have a doctors note. You only get a couple strikes until you reach a final warning and they’ll terminate you with the quickness. Two 15 min breaks and a 30 min lunch and you can’t be a min late or it affects your adherence. Long hours including working on a Saturday, pay is very low and not enough considering how much you’re overworked and dealing with irate customers. A couple managers are creeps. One was fired for something I can’t even discuss on here. They treat you like little kids, they’ll give you permanent assigned seating on the floor if they feel like you’re “talking too much” to the co workers around you. They expect you to talk to customers no more than 5 min on each call or it affects your numbers. The list goes on. I’m tryna save y’all, don’t work here and waste your time. Find a company that will appreciate you and not look at you as just a number rather than a human being. 

Coaching is important at every job, and one thing about CMI, they are on it. It’s given to you in a very helpful, positive manner, even if it’s a lot you need to work on.

On the other hand, your stats are posted for EVERYONE to see, and they say that’s motivation but it’s not good to me. It’s negative motivation, and I think that info is personal one on one info to be discussed during individual coaching. Also, if you care that ppl are struggling during these times and it’s financially difficult for ppl right now, then this place might not be for you. It’s difficult having to pressure ppl to pay once they cry and say how the can’t even pay their rent. We still have to try to collect. And it’s def pressure about that. Overall, if you’re okay with stats being up for everyone to see and you’re okay with pressuring ppl to pay even when they say the don’t have it, then this job is for you. Sweet ppl and will help you get to where you need to be on the job.

A typical work day is very simple. Clock in at your assigned schedule, put your headset on and deal with outbound and inbound calls. Prepared to get cursed at, and told very ugly things by angry customers who are upset about 1) being on a recorded line and 2) being in collections. Of course, team leads and the manager continuously tell you not to take it personal, but hearing constant negative things said about you from people who don't know you, for 8 hours and 5 days a week, can get to you and make you very stress. It got to the point I was depressed going into work and just thinking about work. I mean, all of that comes with working as a collection agent, so if you have really thick skin, join the team! The only enjoyable part of the job are the co-workers. I loved my co-workers and the manager and all of the team leads. If it wasn't for the rude a** customers, I would still be working there. Unfortunately, I let the person on the other side of the phone get in my head. But then again, the pay wasn't so great.

When working for cmi, during training they put me through four different trainers in two weeks, all of which told me a completely different thing about my job than the last. My supervisors targeted specific employees, and would purposely avoid questions from newer employees needing help. The job was underpaid, and the overall environment was very unprofessional. Supervisors play favorites, and threaten your job if your internet goes out. A lot of the yt higher ups are extremely discriminatory to any minority of any kind. They take on campaigns they cannot handle, don’t train the employees on said campaigns for longer than an hour, and then blame the employees for it all. Extremely horrible for anyone and everyone unless you’re the one on top. Wouldn’t recommend this job to my worst enemy. CMI group is a horrible environment, and workplace. 0/10.

Interview process was easy they do a urine drug test training was a week from like 8-2 ... I worked the 7-4 shift they do power hours which are very childish they yell “it’s power hour first payment gets a snack” like we are in elementary school ... they also may put your name on a raffle ticket to win some stuff they bought from amazon ... system is trash you may end up calling a customer who just got off the phone from a representative which obviously means you deal with angry customers for that reason ... job overall is very easy ... pay is just extremely low and bonus structure sucks 2$ per payment but you average 2 payments per the TLs don’t do much of anything besides power hours and yelling over you while you’re on the phone it becomes very repetitive and annoying every week there’s a new hire group coming in by the end of the week the whole group has already quit turnover rate is ridiculous
