The management here is appalling to say the least. No amount of training will solve anything because they are so unwilling to learn. The best advice is to start over. Get rid of those that have a vast majority of complaints in HR and do the work to hire someone that will be beneficial to the company.
My manager had to be one of the most unprofessional managers ever. Rude to everyone she comes into contact with and no amount of training will change that. She is simply not fit for this position and is absolutely dreadful to work with. NOTHING gets done. Management does NOT care for staff. It is far too evident.

I learned how to cover myself and how to leave a paper trail..Sad. These people will throw you under the bus to save themselves and I've seen it time and time again. There is no real workplace culture, unless stepping on others and twisting people's arm is the culture, then they have a fairly poor culture.
Your day to day will depend on your manager. Do you have someone that micromanages, but does nothing themselves or do you have an actual manager that can trust you to do your job and does theirs? Many days out of the week I was not able to take a break and my manager did not care in the least bit. Management did not try to work with me when it came to taking breaks and prior conversations I've had with management indicated that they really would rather I not take a break, but work through my break. Absolutely disgusting. I believe this is in multiple other offices as well. 

HR is pretty much nonexistent and does not help when it comes to real issues. This company just needs to be sanitized from the head down and they need to start over. Not enough time to go into detail how bad my experience was.  

Only enjoyable part of the job is meeting different kinds of people and helping them to get housing. It was never a dull day and there was ALWAYS someone with a good energy that came by or called on the phone. 
Save yourself the headache because there will be plenty. Find something else and KNOW YOUR WORTH.

The work environment I have found that certain team dynamics, particularly with the maintenance technicians and regional management, create challenges.


What is the most stressful part about working at the company?

There are significant issues with task fulfillment among the maintenance technicians. Additionally, I have observed unprofessional behavior from the regional manager's daughter, who does not consistently complete her responsibilities. This has led to a perception of nepotism, which affects team morale and my overall work experience.


What is the work environment and culture like at the company?


From the outset, I have found the environment to be challenging, with limited support from regional management. There is a lack of respect among some team members, which can create a difficult atmosphere.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?

On a typical day, I often feel my authority is being challenged, and there is a general lack of respect among colleagues. This has made my experience less enjoyable than I had hoped.

This was the worst experience of my life:
1) no training - I was told to read the Operational Management booklet online
2) property manager is NEVER at the property, therefore no direction
3) your subordinates will outright tell you "no" when you give direction. Told property manager there is/ was of  lack of overall support- nothing changed
4) Give projects through email (still no training or direction) 10 min before the end of the day.
5) disorganized - extremely
6) overall HIGH staff turn over rate. Everyone is looking for another job.
7) residents have seriously L & I violations which never seemed important. Then having to lie to residents about when leaks/mold/holes in their ceilings will be fixed. Some residents have had leaks for years.
I was so stressed out I started to see a psychologist. I couldnt sleep and started having sharp pains behind my right eye.

The employee benefits cannot be beat. Top of the scale for pay, PTO, holidays. Average bonus opportunities. Training is bare minimum to reduce liability, but there is no emphasis or encouragement for training towards advancement.

The company mission is built around helping people, and this mission resonates throughout the company on all levels. It was amazing to work for a company with that type of culture. 

In my experience, there was a lack of teamwork mentality, and it often felt like certain individuals were working against each other rather than trying to help the team succeed as a whole

There was, unfortunately, too much stress overflow from the job. High expectations with no team support created a very caustic environment.

It was also unfortunate that the company would lose good relationships with good vendors due to slow processing of payment

I worked at TCB for 2 hellish years and in all my working life I never saw such incompetence and scapegoating as I saw from TCB management and the leadership team. High turnover rate of employees who are initially attracted by TCB's mission statement but soon find themselves overworked in an incredibly oppressive work environment.  Things were so bad financially that we were forced to take unpaid furlough! I went thru three CFO's during my time there. They tried to turn things around but were faced by under miners on the leadership team. Favoritism abounds and there is nothing merit based in regards to compensation and promotions. 

Outside of the great South End/Back Bay location TCB sucks!

Do yourself a favor stay away!

I currently work as an Assistant Community Manager. The description of the job role is nowhere near accurate of what they expect you to do daily.  Your responsibility is to support the Community Manager in operations from rent collections, training, overseeing the team as the CM may not be available. In reality you are working in the most chaotic, dysfunctional, unprofessional environment. Zero support, training, acknowledgement, & absolutely no room for growth. No point of raising concerns to HR the focus is solely on the company. If you are a Housing Industry Professional, do not waste your talent or skills here! You can do better elsewhere! 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The best part is the IT department. You receive prompt assistance from that team. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Poor management and upper management. They band together against the people who are actually doing the work. You get zero constructive feedback when you raise a concern. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
You are completely independent doing your job and that of your manager because she’s lazy. No support. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You respond to a lot of calls and emails from disgruntled residents. Redirect a lot  of calls for the absent manager or lie and say she’s not there when she is.

TCB work is led by the mission and vision which makes it stressful and lack work life balance often due to how much we care about work.  I appreciate that the corporate leaders are always looking for ways to improve the workplace and processes of working conditions for staff and customers service for residents.
Because we are working to improve communities and living conditions it's often a stressful struggle between working with residents and meeting compliance requirements.

The staffing at sites are not always adequate for the number of units being served or needs of the housing program for that site.

TCB is by far the worst place I have worked or ever heard of anyone working at.  The Property Management group is clueless and headed by a guy who never managed a property in his life. The turnover is astronomical because they always blame the site managers for lack of systems and the mistakes of senior management. The terrible Property Management is surpassed only by the god-awful Asset Management group. With several properties in bankruptcy the AM team is clueless and has had several directors in recent years who don't can't figure out how to break properties even. The new CEO is in over his head and has surrounded himself with yes men.   This place has no future and is not a place you want to work at.

There is not enough staffing. The company needs to reevaluate their staffing. Management is left with doing all the work and it can be stressful.

The work environment is not bad. You don’t have any staff or co workers to work with. I am by myself doing all this work.
