A Typical Day at Work:
A typical day involves numerous meetings, although many of them are not as productive as they could be. Often, there's a back-to-back schedule that leaves little to no time for lunch or completing tasks.

Management:
The management tends to be authoritative and fear-driven. When things don't go per CEO's expectations, there's a tendency to hold staff meetings where criticism and blame is assigned rather than focusing on improvement. The CEO emphasizes perks like great healthcare and free lunches as reasons for loyalty. Firings happen often, which creates a sense of insecurity rather than support.

Many managers seem to have been appointed through personal connections, which becomes evident when complaints are made about them and no action is taken. This undermines trust and creates a perception that accountability is lacking in addressing employee concerns.

Workplace Culture:
While there are occasional team-building events and staff gatherings, the overall atmosphere can feel stressful and toxic. There's a lack of proactive support, with more focus on pinpointing mistakes and who made them rather than helping employees succeed. Some managers resort to making sarcastic remarks when employees lack industry knowledge or experience, which undermines morale and discourages questions.

The Hardest Part of the Job:
One of the most challenging aspects is being able to respond to client questions in a personalized manner. There are strict expectations to follow predefined steps and use specific phrases in a particular order. This limits the ability to engage with clients in a more relaxed or personalized way. Additionally, despite the job posting suggesting no industry knowledge is required, there is pressure to demonstrate familiarity with all aspects of the industry. This contradiction can create uncertainty and stress when responding to client inquiries.

Most Enjoyable Part of the Job:
The colleagues. They were dedicated individuals who genuinely strive to make a positive impact and enhance the work environment. Unfortunately, the management often appears resistant to change and does not give serious consideration to our suggestions. It's disheartening to hear comments like "you care too much about your team," which suggests that employee welfare may not be a top priority for the company.

In conclusion, the company prides itself on being open-minded, but in reality, there is a reluctance to accept feedback and suggestions for improving the work environment. There is a strong sense of job insecurity among employees, and many feel undervalued, which seems to be a widespread issue across departments, not just in the one I worked in.

The initial training period can be a bit much with meetings and a lot of material to learn. However, once you learn the ropes, leadership expresses a solid amount of faith and leaves you to your work without micro-managing, while always being completely open and accessible for questions when needed.

I'm being as honest as I can here when I say that the culture here is unmatched. Still haven't met a single person here I dislike thus far, everyone is welcoming and approachable, and people here are truly down-to-earth. It's very nice to be past awkward office small talk.

Leadership, on both a managerial level AND an executive level, is overwhelmingly understanding. They're honest, they don't have issues with PTO, nor ask reasons for the use, and will do whatever they can to help lighten your load if you're behind, whether for circumstances outside of the office, or just due to casualties of the profession.

I'm constantly asked what negatives I have about this job and, more often than not, I'm left scratching my head trying to figure out some kind of negative. There's really not a lot to complain about. Sometimes the system is slow or runs into issues. But what workplace system doesn't have this though? It does admittedly take 90 days for the benefits to kick in, meaning you may be in for a rough period medically when you start out (had to push a LOT of appointments out). But even then, the benefits are excellent. I'm barely paying anything at all for medical, dental, vision, or RX outside of the amount taken out of the paycheck.

If you have experience in any field adjacent to health insurance, especially subrogation, I absolutely recommend this place. I'd worked in subrogation for 4 years prior to coming here, and it's like day and night how much better things are.

What is the best part of working at the company?
They’ll say they’ll give you free healthcare if you work there for 5 years, but then they’ll make sure you’re not working there by then do they don’t have to make good on that promise. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The pettiness & small minded overall mentality of the entire establishment. It’s a complete mess there & they micromanage your every move. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
One work will suffice here- gaslighting 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Working in an environment where you’re told to do something in a specific way & a week later you’re challenged & berated for doing it that way. This is the norm here.

Having only been with the company for a few months, I felt I should relay my impressions so far.  The in person staff meetings are hilarious, salary is competitive with the market and easily rises above other companies when you factor in the strong benefits, 401K match and 4+ weeks of PTO.  Training sets you up to understand the business and what Phia does and the culture fosters an inclusiveness that you usually don't get when you just join a company.  

Professionally relaxed place to work. The work week was pretty balanced out with really busy days and some more relaxed days. I learned something new everyday, from not only just my department but from others as well. The only bad thing I'll say is that management tends to play favorites with the employees who have been there a long period of time versus someone who may be only a year in. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to face real challenges and learn from your co-workers.

It’s a cult. And the inner circle will needle you with criticism and micromanaging until you’re done. They gaslight you about everything (your work, time off, breaks, etc). Will say they trust you and your work but then micromanage you to death. That inner circle is comprised of all women who went to high school with each other and none of which have ever had any other job, so they’re basically winging it. Management and the work. Managers and supervisors will bad mouth employees to other employees.

Lower level employees and the support given amongst one another

Leadership, lack of salary increase , micromanaging

Great culture amongst lower level employees

The Phia Group is incredibly fast paced - this is not for everyone. If you like feeling energized at work, confident in your abilities, while knowing what you do can help others, this is the place for you. There's a game room, catered lunches, flexible hybrid schedules, and the leadership certainly cares. If you're unhappy, you are encouraged to let someone know, and your feedback can actually make change. 

The company is fantastic with respect to its work-life balance, but, unfortunately, that is where the buck stops. Management is disorganized and at times incoherent with its governance, and policies change daily with little to no tangible impact. There is little room for growth, in fact it is even discouraged in certain circumstances. Truly a cesspool.

Very disorganized. No accountability from management a lot of BS-ing and passing the buck. There’s never a supervisor or lead to assist you or take over a call with an angry caller instead they leave you out in the wind.
