Lots of nitpicky, tedious rules which made my work less meaningful as they continue to add more on without more pay. Often felt unappreciated. Managers are "cliquey" so there's really no one else to go to if your manager doesn't back up your concerns.

It seems that the ompany cares most about profit which leads to managers executing this value by cutting our hours to save money and enrolling unfit seniors who require more care that an "assisted living" facility can provide. It also leads to focusing more on maintaining their image to the public and potential clients while neglecting the residents who already reside and most especially the employees.

Always short staffed for two reasons: (1) management would rather maximize current employees instead of hiring adequate staff.  (2) high turn-over rate, but on the upside means good job security.

Only a select few may earn a promotion due to their performance and seniority. Promotions are really only achievable if you obtain higher certifications (ex: RCA -> MA/CN) or already have a nursing title or are in a management role.
The relationships you create with the residents and coworkers are really only what make the job worth it.

Overall bad. The pay is soooo bad for what we RCA’s do. Mind you, the RCA’s are the ones who’s literally helping the residents 24/7; meanwhile the office and management literally just sits in their offices. The work we have to do is not just physically challenging, but mentally challenging and draining. The life/work life for me is super hard. They’re always shorts staffed, alwaysssss. Schedule flexibility is terrible, so pick your times and days wisely because once you tell them your availability…it’s most likely impossible to change if you ever need to. The break are short, and mind you we’re non stop moving and lifting for 7.5 hours. Overall, i’d reconsider applying there. :(

Serving our Kapuna, being respectful and caring about the Staff as well as the Residental community. You can feel the Aloha Spirit.

I don't like to make negative statements. I'm all about positive vibes here✌🏾🫶🏾

Pleasant and respectful environment, with lots of Aloha Spirit🤙🏾

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very Busy.  Heavy Administrative Duties involved in daily operations. While answering multiphone lines, Resident inquiries and greeting persons whom enter. You are the first point of contact for almost everything.

This was my first job after graduating as an RN. I worked at the Plaza at Kaneohe, and the supportive team and DON/ADON really made a difference. I learned so much here about the healthcare system and care for all types of residents with various health issues, and you really are able to truly get to know the residents and their families and form a bond. I moved to California, and miss my coworkers and residents every day. Without a doubt, an amazing first job as an RN out of nursing school. I would go back if I could! 

They expect way too much from their employees for way too little pay. They are okay with unsafe staffing ratios and with allowing residents to suffer and not get the care they need because of it. There is such a high turnover rate because nothing is done to promote retention. In the last two years, the employees got a 3% raise, which equates to not even a dollar, despite the pandemic and inflation. To charge such high amounts every month and to pay the employees so little it makes one wonder where that money goes? 
The management is cliquish and has blatant favorites. There is nepotism and special treatment of management’s friends and families. 

Genuinely fun and low stress work environment. All the staff is close-knit and friendly. Each shift is like family. Biggest complaint is the company’s pay and benefits are not competitive at all. They always complain about high turnover but everyone that leaves is leaving for better pay/PTO/etc. If the job paid better and had better benefits a lot more people would hang around, and this would make the work more enjoyable if we would be fully staffed!

Always a pleasure to work with seniors. They always make the employees feel appreciated. However the management needs to work on making their employees feel valued. When issues arise try to understand employees. Always on your feet, lots of tasks to fulfill, most times having to deal with highly stressful and overwhelming situations. Work with Alzheimer and dementia residents as well as other health conditions; cancer, Parkinson's, etc.

Lots of bullying with the staff. If you aren’t in the “clique” you are treated like an outsider. CNA’s are covered by union & nurses are not so if you write them up for not doing their job you are the enemy & they continue to not do their job. The DON & managers are cliques with the CNA’s. Lots of hard work & lots of charting. There is no admission nurse so you might have 3 admissions on your shift plus discharges & no one cares to help. DO NOT WORK HERE! 

Working here was nice because the workers and the residents but compensation isn’t worth it for the amount of work that needs to be done. Management can somewhat be helpful but didn’t feel like they really cared on whether or not you’re overworking yourself or if the department is failing. This place seems to always be short handed and they expect you to pick up the extra shifts.

Very culturally oriented and a safe clean environment to work in

It starts early and goes into late in the evening but at least I get to leave until the next shift
