I am so happy that I chose to work at Primary Health Network as a new Pediatric Nurse Practitioner!  It was important to me to work for a practice that does not turn away any patients due to inability to pay.  I was given an orientation that lasted as long as I needed to be mentored, and I have an excellent relationship with my collaborating physicians as ongoing support when I encounter a challenging patient/family situation.  I have been supported by all members of the Team and made to feel welcome from the very first day on site.  No question is treated as trivial and I'm learning so much from all of my colleagues.  I think the hardest part of the job is just being in a new role with more significant responsibilities than I have had in my previous 40 years in in-patient neonatal/pediatric nursing. It is also challenging to take into consideration the impact of social determinants of health on the ability for children and their families to create a healthy lifestyle.  The most enjoyable part of the job is working with the Team as we create ongoing relationships with children and their families, focusing on them creating that healthier lifestyle and teaching kids how to take responsibility for their own health.

PHN is accommodating and flexible with ever changing schedules and life events. PHN continues to take great initiative to support staff during the pandemic. PHN is ready and willing to help employees who are willing to put in the work. PHN has always been accepting and open to ideas for company/departmental improvements. PHN has always given opportunities for personal and professional growth with tuition reimbursement for continued education. PHN has always strived to provide employees with outstanding benefits beyond your regular health insurance. PHN has been beneficial in building a career not just a 9-5 job. 
PHN could improve with hiring managers that fit the job description they are attempting to perform. PHN has a few managers that know next to nothing for the position in which they are working. PHN managers could work on assigning tasks to employees based on job description provided instead of overloading a handful of employees with all tasks. PHN is working on providing appropriate compensation for jobs performed, hopefully PHN continues this effort as it’s employees deserve to be well compensated and new employees should not make more than employees with years of employment with PHN. PHN could work on departmental equality, favoritism should never happen. Policies should be followed equally for all employees. PHN managers shouldn’t allow some to bypass policies while others are made to follow them. 

At one time it was a great place to work.  Upper management changed and went downhill.  Lower management has no idea how the office is run and does not want to learn.  Quality of care does not exist, it is about quantity.   No longer offer quarterly bonuses.  No open door policy, management does not want to hear about problems or workload.  Staff is overworked and stressed but expected to get work done even when pulled from their position on a daily basis, with no overtime allowed. There is only one side to the story and that is the management's side, important details left out.  Lower management will not even lend a hand or offer to find help to get duties completed but will point the finger if work is not completed.  No communication between management and staff.  Most information comes down through the grapevine. No chain of command that you can go to and discuss issues within the office.  No room for advancement unless you have a nursing title, no need for previous management experience or knowledge of positions within the office, just carry the title.  Hard work goes unnoticed.  HR does not want to hear the other side of the story, decisions are made based on management's side, even if written proof is provided from staff.  Not a place that I would recommend employment.    Pros - vacation time, providers  -   Con's - management, patient care, workload, stress, one-sided stories, short staffed

The work load is not distributed evenly. Co-workers will be in their office doing “paperwork”, while you’re struggling to manage 3 providers and get ask to to help at other offices, and run the lab schedule. The front office is not medical, so there is a lot of back and forth messages with patients. You have to stay late once a week and that’s fine but I was told I would have to stay one evening once a MONTH. Turns out it will be once a month when the office is fully staffed. Maybe if employees were paid enough a full staff would be kept. There is a lot of “that’s not my job” at this office. The managers come late and leave early almost everyday. The manager says they are there to help if needed but she can either not be found or gives the work to someone else. In my opinion this office is poorly managed. The doctors are alright, except for a couple. One is pretty rude to the staff and does not take time with his patients, just gives meds. There is a “lab” station in the office but none of the nurses know how to draw blood and if they do they are too afraid to do it. It’s just not a good place to work, you’re expected to do so much for little pay. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
 have never worked for a better company then Primary Health Network!
The company is very family oriented, they have a summer activity for families to participate in.  The company gives yearly raises, Christmas bonus, and they send thing to the offices for the employees for employee appreciation week, and other times throughout the year. We have a yearly luncheon that the company pays for during the employee recognition day. 
I work with an amazing team at my office and at the other offices I occasionally travel to and help at. Dr Garrow and the administration team listen to my concerns, comments and suggestions from the employees.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Nothing specific, we all have off days and good days.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
I work in a Friendly, and Caring environment. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
All the normal aspects of a doctor's office. Rooming patients, drawing blood, answering phone calls, scheduling appointments.

Can’t afford the benefits working for this company. Company has people who have time to waste instead of going to the site and lending a hand. They have time to waste by sitting around making up stories to call and see if we double or triple book so they can see if we are booking to their liking so they can get the money flow that they want. Meanwhile sites are short staffed and when the patients come in they sit and get angry for waiting forever to be seen. If you don’t double or triple book you get a notice about it and written up for it. Little room for advancing.  To get bonus they have quarterly projects that staff has to turn in and they decide if or what bonus you get. They promise to finish your training later and fall short of doing so but when you ask for a advancement or raise they hold you not finishing over your head and use it for not  moving you up. All in all not a very good company to work for , very few pros and lots of cons. The pay here is definitely not worth the stress it causes.

Clerical/billing office setting. working in your own cubicle. Terrible billing management and too much focus on control and micro-managing. Billing Dept Management lacks communication, knowledge, and integrity. It can become a very unprofessional work environment due to the poor selection of management staff. The employees for the specific billing department are unfortunately under compensated and under appreciated for work completion which causes poor morale and sometimes hostility. poor training. with improvements of management and proper training this department would be enjoyable to work for as the overall company is a good company that is very community oriented and other departments care for its staff. Depending on individual work ethic I was able to comfortably work here but realized my inability to advance in my career and also poor compensation. the company as a whole was good to me.

Welcome to the world of insecure, petty, backstabbing women (80% of them). There is little to no communication within management because everyone wants to be the only one who knows how to, or what is happening. So they horde their information and exclude anyone they feel threatened by from the knowledge they possess. Thus, making you look incapable and negligent.
This company values their patients over their employees, which is no longer the way to have a productive and progressive company. I highly warn anyone considering employment in PHN now. The company does NOT care about you. You will meet some great people individually however, the PHN "family" doesn't care. Save yourself the stagnant and boring training/orientation hours and find a company that cares about their employees. You will be better off and much happier in your career.

Four day work weeks were a bonus. Coworkers were great. Pay was decent but could be better. Management/corporate is a nightmare. They go through practice managers like crazy! Corporate micromanages everything. It's a bunch of people that have never done your job, or don't even have experience in the medical field telling you how to do your job. The network is supposed to be all about providing affordable health care to under and uninsured patients but their only real concern is money, checking boxes and scheduling as many patients a day as possible. They over schedule and could care less that their Providers have to take work home with them daily, to be able to keep up with charts etc. I wouldn't recommend working for them unless you enjoy being overworked and underappreciated or are the kind of person that likes to kiss a** to climb the corporate ladder. 

The managers have poor ethics and poor professional behavior. Multiple staff who attempted to voice concerns during monthly meetings were retaliated against. They weed out the staff who do not fit their agenda. The turn-over in nurses/office staff/nurse practitioners should indicate a problem in the work environment. The management legitimately harassed employees to their breaking point so they would quit. During a monthly meeting, management threatened staff to quit if we didn’t like the rules. So we did. As a behavioral health facility, they certainly did not meet my expectations of a healthy work environment, let alone meet the standards of quality and professionalism for the patients we were serving.
