Terrible Work Experience-Not Recommended 
I recently completed my tenure with [SLG], and I feel compelled to share my experience for the benefit of potential employees. Unfortunately, my time with the company was far from satisfactory, and I strongly discourage anyone from considering employment, especially in the southern region.
The promises made during the hiring process were nothing but empty words. The work environment resembled a scenario where employees were treated more like slaves than valued contributors. The company's commitment to its workforce was nonexistent, and promises made were consistently broken.
One of the most significant issues was the complete lack of job balance. Employees were expected to go above and beyond without receiving fair compensation or recognition. The company's disregard for the well-being of its staff was evident, and the overall job satisfaction was abysmal.
Moreover, job security was virtually non-existent. The company had a tendency to terminate employees abruptly, often without any logical reason or proper explanation. The sense of instability and fear of sudden job loss created a toxic atmosphere, impacting morale and overall productivity.
Especially in the southern region, the company paid its support staff minimum wages, a practice that directly contributed to frequent staff shortages. This disregard for fair compensation not only affected the employees' livelihoods but also resulted in a shortage of skilled and motivated staff.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against considering employment with [SLG]. The working conditions, broken promises, and minimal compensation make it an unwise choice for anyone seeking a stable and rewarding career. Potential employees should be wary, especially in the southern region, where the company's practices are particularly detrimental to the well-being of its workforce.



My typical day at work was calling in via the client's landline to "punch in" and also to "punch out "  of work as was true for Advanced Cognitive Development.
I learned the importance of caring and compassion towards the client.
Upper management seemed nice and caring. However, dealing with immediate supervisors could prove challenging. I also didn't care much for the Human Resource Manager that was there at the time when I was employed there. During a particular conversation, I found that person to be quite insolent.
The hardest part of the job was when I was denied the ability to obtain my hearing aides, which would have better enabled me to perform my job on the one and only day that I could have picked them up from the audiologist's office. Consequently, I was unable to get them and the hearing aides were sent back to the manufacturer.
The most enjoyable part of the job was the establishment of the excellent rapport that I had with my client.

Every day I am blessed to be part of a leading agency in ABI services, having watched this agency grow and bloom over the past decade has been inspiring both professionally and personally. Having started as an entry level companion I have been encouraged and promoted to a member of management and look forward to our continued growth and momentum in the years to come. 

If you are looking for an agency that will support your hopes, desires, dreams, and that will believe in you than SLG is where it is at. This agency takes promotion seriously and recognizes employees values and abilities. Take it from an individual who started as a Companion and when they least expected was given an opportunity to advance and has personally experienced tremendous professional growth over the past several years as a member of the management team. 

The culture of the company is welcoming, supportive and understanding.  While everyone is held to the highest of standards, the training and support are available to ensure you are successful.  I have worked in the field for many years and SLG is by far the most progressive and responsive in the business. Their participants are well cared for and you can be proud to be associated with this company. 
There are sign on bonuses, free life insurance, holiday pay and a supportive team around you.  All participants have detailed plans in the homes with contact information for emergencies, medication lists, etc.
Very organized. Always able to reach someone if needed.     
If you need anything management team is very responsive to helping. 
Positive work environment. I enjoy going to work. Really. 

Working at Supported Living Group (SLG) has been an incredibly rewarding experience. Probably one of the worst companies I have ever worked for in regards to upper management. They forget where they come from and fail to realize they were once regular employees just like us. Our opinions are always over looked even though we are the ones that deal with the clients and their families day in and day out 24/7. Upper management would be an absolute failure if they spent a day in our shoes. We are the back bone of their company and they treat us as we are replaceable. They need to do better when it comes to their staff. The turn around in the office is insane to say the least. They keep the upper management and just continue to let the good staff leave or either get fired for something upper management did and lie to cover themselves. Do not work for this place if you value your mental health. They run you to the ground and have no appreciation for anyone that works for them. 

The clients are amazing and remarkable people. Unfortunately it's not feasible to work here in today's economy. A few Small changes to ensure staff well being could really help this company and it's workers and improve things overall. 

Upper upper management is just covering their own behinds. They want minimal involvement. and all the results. You will be beyond stressed with no breaks between clients and numerous cancelations at your cost for travel.  When you ask for assistance you are a nuisance.   

This company will over work you until you’re burnt out. 24+ hour shifts if your coworker calls out and they can’t find anyone to take the shift. They don’t care about your family or your well being. I was told multiple times to come into work even though I was sick. I actually got into a car accident, was injured and on strong painkillers and muscle relaxers  which made me sleepy and disoriented and they still told me I needed to come into work. If you want to work 60+ hours a week, get paid only a couple dollars over minimum wage for mentally and physically exhausting work, and want managers who don’t care about your well being, family, or sanity, this is the perfect place for you to work. 

I enjoyed working for them, however they had an ad on here for my hometown, but couldn’t find many clients near me, thus creating a bit of stressors, driving/wear and tear on my vehicle. I didn’t want to discontinue working for them, however there were a few trainings/trips there I didn’t get reimbursed for and not many clients nearby.  I feel they should maybe take a little more time to help us “deal” with clients, how to channel every day stressors with clients. The staff was very nice and kind though, and pay weekly!  

Over the last few years I have had, effectively, no life outside of work, and no interaction with people at work besides the clients or anyone they need to interact with themselves. Something as simple as stringing together two days off in a row is apparently nearly impossible, and, while the managers are fine people, the actual quality of management overall is abysmal. Pay is nearly as low as they can legally go, and you're completely at the mercy of whatever rigidly set hours they have for you, which require a weekend shift to be considered a full time employee, by the way.
